An anyone suggest a couple of decent speedlite stand roughly 2 meters or so. Will also need to kind of connection to attach the flash to the stand.

Personally I use the Konig stands, they're plenty sturdy enough for a speedlight and brolly/softbox and pack nicely down into the carry bag - they're about a tenner each.

I have the Calumet copy, it works great. I normally use it with Canon 580EX II or Elinchrom Quadra head on it or a reflector holder. The stand is quite well made, it has taken some beating, one leg is slightly bent but still works great. http://www.calumetphoto.co.uk/eng/product/calumet_ultra_compact_stand/mf6027

Another smaller stand I use is Avenger A625. Avenger stands are amazing quality but sadly their price in Europe is ridiculous. So unless you are willing to order from US it is not such a great choice.

Cheers guys, SJR where did you get yours from?

Yeah, I switched to the other guys purely because I've used them before and the service was top notch.

You could take a look at the ones I have Jimmy, but I'm not sure you could be any further away if you tried :)

Thanks again, what kinda of bracket do I need to attach the flash/brolly/softbox to the stand itself?

Have you used them outside?

Cheers Mike, big help. This is all new to me. Are these universal? So if I upgraded they work on many different brands?

Do they still work ok with receivers?

yes they are universal (except sony / minolta)

Lovely will be using a 430 like you aswell :D

Yeah, sure, you put the flash in the hotshoe of the reciever then that into the umbrella hotshoe holder .. some people prefer to screw the receiver on though as it is a bit more secure and makes it slightly lower than the shoe does.

Ok thanks again, things should become clearer once I've got everything.

No worries .. the stand, holder and umbrella all fit in the bag that comes with the Konig stand too, which makes it nice and portable and makes sure you don't leave part of it at home :)

Bonus! Have you used it outside?

Yep, although you're better off with a softbox than a brolly if there's any breeze and, as with any light stand, you might need weight on the bottom to help stop it blowing over if the wind picks up.
