SJRobbins said:Personally I use the Konig stands, they're plenty sturdy enough for a speedlight and brolly/softbox and pack nicely down into the carry bag - they're about a tenner each.
Cheers guys, SJR where did you get yours from?
Amazon, although Amazon direct are currently out of stock I think - these are the last ones I got:

Ever so slightly cheaper here:

Thanks again, what kinda of bracket do I need to attach the flash/brolly/softbox to the stand itself?
Have you used them outside?
mike_6480 said:Something like this for brolly & flash:

or this includes brolly:

My softbox came with an adapter to attach it / flash
Cheers Mike, big help. This is all new to me. Are these universal? So if I upgraded they work on many different brands?
mike_6480 said:yes they are universal (except sony / minolta)
Do they still work ok with receivers?
SJRobbins said:Yeah, sure, you put the flash in the hotshoe of the reciever then that into the umbrella hotshoe holder .. some people prefer to screw the receiver on though as it is a bit more secure and makes it slightly lower than the shoe does.
Ok thanks again, things should become clearer once I've got everything.
SJRobbins said:No worries .. the stand, holder and umbrella all fit in the bag that comes with the Konig stand too, which makes it nice and portable and makes sure you don't leave part of it at home![]()
SJRobbins said:Yep, although you're better off with a softbox than a brolly if there's any breeze and, as with any light stand, you might need weight on the bottom to help stop it blowing over if the wind picks up.
Got all my kit today SJRobbins, thanks for you advice![]()
