So, I’m looking into broadening my skills and branching into portrait photography. It’s a whole new world!

Coming from a sports (specifically Boxing) background, I never use flash as it’s all about low light for me at ringside. I do have a Jessops 360AFD I throw onto the camera to get shots of the typical boxer pose at the end of each bout – but that’s it.

I need to get some gym portraits done of the boxers promotional pieces ASAP, and I’ve also been asked to take some portrait shots at a black tie event coming up in a few months.

From my understanding, I will be best place to use flash kits rather than continuous lighting. Budget is only around £200 at the moment. I have slightly more – but I also need to get a backdrop too, so £200 on the lights is the top end really.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Cheers.

Have found this for sale at Jessops - Link

This on on eBay has really caught my eye - Link

The Ebay kit is very cheap but overpriced for what it is.

The Jessops one is an Interfit, not the best in the world but much better than the Ebay kit.

If you add another £50 to your budget you can buy the SmartFlash 200 twin head kit, or at least you'll be able to in a few days, when they're back in stock.
