Film Photographer of the Year 2022 Discussion Thread

If you didn't go out in the rain round here you wouldn't go out at all :)
I don't mind going out in the rain (you just have to read my blog to see that) but I generally take my Fuji X-T2s for that job I'm reluctant to take my Bronicas or Yashica out in rain cos if they get broke it's hard to replace them.

The poll is up for the 2021 December entries

When the poll closes on 2021 in 7 days I'll start a thread for January 2022 entries

Yesterday it was raining :). Grabbed a camera :snaphappy:, found my boots, put on waterproof coat, hat and picked up an umbrella. Stepped out of door and it had stopped raining. :banghead: . Rain dance? :runaway:

And they're off! :)

The January 2022 entries thread is up, post your Rainy photos

Good luck to all.

I've got some negs drying at the moment, hopefully one frame will be presentable for this month's theme

I've finished the roll... there are about three rain affected frames... now, can I remember where the processing equipment is, where the chemicals are, have they gone off, and what the **** I do!

Well I'm thinking of entering my December 2021 entry for Jan 22 becuase it is better than anything else I have got so why not?

Here was me thinking that "dry January" referred to giving up alcohol for a month, but we're in a virtual drought and there's barely a drop in the forecaast for the next 2 weeks! Then again, when was the forecast ever right for that length of time.

I'm sort of regretting not going out over the Christmas holiday now...!

I have about 8 shots left on the roll so that's not an issue.

Bought a roll of FP4 last week, loaded the Zeiss Nettar and now waiting for the rain which isn't forecast. I don't process my own film so time is getting tight.

Dug out the gear from the garage, scrapped the crust off the chemicals, blew the dust off the equipment.

Developing this morning!!!

I have been looking for a project (or anything) to get me involved in image making...
I am drawn to film but usually find myself in a test/test/test phase as the odd new(old) acquisition arrives and is in need of exposure/focus/flare tests etc...
It will be very nice to actually use some of my kit for this comp...

Maybe too late for me in Jan, so off to work on the upcoming themes...

Cool.

I don't think I'm gonna get any rain! I'm on target to finish the film in time but...... grrrr!

I've got one image. But I had the light meter batteries disabled and had no way of opening at the time to sort it out. Hopefully it's exposed okay and I can drop the film of on Tuesday.

Luckily, I've also taken one the other week for February so that might take some pressure off!

Less than a week to get those entries in folks, I need to get my act into gear

I've not seen any rain, not a single drop, since before Christmas, except on two occasions when I didn't have a camera......

From the Daily Record of 2 January:

It comes as Coral bookmakers slash odds on this January being the wettest on record.

The bookies have reduced odds from 2-1 to just 4-5.
"The forecast suggests the start of 2022 is going to be a washout. We now make it odds-on for this month to end as the wettest January ever in the UK," said Coral's John Hill.
While I'm glad it never happened generally speaking, it means I'm still saving my film for a rainy day ...........

Why does it only rain when it's dark?

The January poll is up, please vote

Thanks Nige, I thought your shot would have won, but there were a few good entries.
