I actually like number one, I like the variations in the patterns either side of the knot!

Number three is lovely and vibrant, I also prefer that one:thumbs:

I'm very glad your son is out of hospital and I hope your mum is allowed out soon.

Wishing your OH lots and lots of get well soon vibes. My dad has just been diagnosed with lung cancer (no surprise after years of smoking) and it's looking like he'll only need surgery but it is worrying times for everyone involved.

Well done for sticking with the challenge.
 
Well the knot seems to have differing views and shows how diverse we all are. Thankyou for viewing and commenting. DK is right about the colour of #1 which is much richer.
Michael and Marsha, thankyou for positive voting of #3. It was my 1st shot and I was unsure if it fitted the theme. Obviously most appear to agree.

Marsha. We both send our best wishes to yourself and Dad. These are worrying times for all concerned when it comes to diagnosis of the big C. I hope all goes well with his op and does not have to endure further treatment. Wish him good luck. OH is now out of hospital. Oupatient appointment next week to see what comes next. Mum is continuing to be assessed.

of the 3 images for Abstract...#2 just nudges in to the lead , like the detail in the wood on both of them though the richer color in #1 appeals ...so a tie it is :thumbs:
 
Thankyou for your support Lynne and Marsha. It has been a hard week for all of us especially adapting to new routines. Things will no doubt settle down soon and hey it's summer so a few trips out may relieve the tension.
 
Wow lovely shot for symmetry! You've done exceptionally well with the exposure, and have it perfectly aligned; I can't see any issues with the symmetry at all.

Which building is this?

This is one of the uprights forming part of the new Kings Cross station ceiling.

I have fallen behind too but not because i have anything like the worry that you have. Hope that all continues to go well - you certainly have a sound attitude.

Just to comment on the ideas/compositions as many have commented on the technical aspects:

Leave - idea works well for me
Random - clever idea and good pov
Temperature - good shot, nice idea, clear and bang on theme
Abstract - all good ideas, like the colour in#1 but #3 is my fave as bold and on theme

Symmetry - save the best 'til last - now that IS a picture. Brilliant, lovely subtle colours - even the highlights of the reflected lights in the inverted 'v' s of the lattice are symmetrical. :clap:
 
Thankyou for all your kind words, very much appreciated. Not been able to do much computer or photo work over the last couple of weeks but will press on with the challenge. Once things settle down a bit I hope to get back to commenting on all your submissions.
 
Week 25 Moody.
Late submitting this one but was taken in the appropriate week.
So this is the moody sky of midsummer, well the day after anyway.

There has been lots of moody skies around this summer. Some good cloud shapes there rolling across the skies.

Did you do much pp? I only ask as I did a couple like this and some where ok straight out of the camera and some needed so much tweaking it was unreal!
 
The ground looks a little under exposed maybe ? Or at least it does on my iPad.

Lovely moody sky, getting too used to the these days....
 
Agree with the above comment bg a bit dark but excellent sky
 
Love Temperature, abstract and symmetry btw.... some really good work, should be better at catching up on this thread....

This was straight out of camera with a slight crop to remove part of a road sign.
Tried to increase exposure for foreground, as there is a powerline across the field making a good lead-in, however this blows the sky. As the sky emphasises the mood, decided this was the best shot.

Had a bit of a job getting my head around this theme. Tried getting grandsons to pose and did a bit of street but not really able to show difference between joy and happynesss. In the end plumped for a London hostel. Would be a joy to stay here if I was a tourist. :):beer:

Small
Practice with high key but time restaints meant unable to perfect lighting. Think the slight shadow at bottom helps but not totall happy with background. Will have another try sometime.

I've tried to type this three times now and each time I keep seeing emails to say you've added to the thread :lol:

Moody - I do think that has improved the image now John.

Joy - I like the A sign with the smiley logo. Hey and even the joy of staying there is getting free wi-fi so you can keep in touch with TP while you're away

Small - I think you've made a very good go at the high key. It is difficult to get perfect white or black backgrounds so well done. I do like #1. The small size of the salt and pepper pots are exaggerated by the sauce bottles.
 
Thankyou again Peter. Agree the moody image crop, and comments from Martin, Allan and Alex on need to lighten seems to work, as it still retains the sky showing the awful weather from this summer.
 
The moddy crop does work well, nice work!

Joy - the sign is fab! Good find that and very on theme.

Small - like your idea! Not sure which I like best for the theme, I think #1 maybe.

Moody - good edit and fits the theme

Joy - not keen on the pub shot - loks a bit overxposed and no real focal point. Like the A sign - good spot and good touch having the other sign in the background.

Small - ketchup bottles is good shot. Right on theme and good focus and composition. Background is hard to get spot on.

#2 is a very good idea, simple and well captured and I think that it would be my choice
 
Hmm, moody and joy I think are a little disappointing compared to other stuff you've done; moody is, well sorry to say, not very interesting, while joy I think the second one is better because it took me ages to see any connection at all to the theme in the first one. Bit snap-shotty though?

Small is great; back on form! Nice composition, and spot on for the theme.

Small - I prefer the first of these showing the small salt and pepper with the bigger bottles. Getting a white background can be a nightmare. I have found having a light/flash on the background can help though I always seem to end up having to edit it as well!:):)
 
I'm liking moody quite a lot :)

For Joy I think the 1st one would have been better without the fence and maybe a closer zoom on the joy banner - but the sandwich board is bang on theme.

small - I have no idea what high key is but the silver tops of the s&p pots have a white line around them. Having said that the 2nd one with the ruler is spot on :clap:
 
John, I think your second one with the ruler says small more than the one with the sauce bottles.
I like the high key effect here, nice crisp lighting works well with the shiny chrome tops of the salt&pepper. Iain
 
Hi John, Moody is much better without the road, like the pic and certainly on theme. Joy, has to be the sign pictures for me on this one. Small, I like both of these. Lighting looks good in number 1, gives a very good contrast between the sizes. The holes look like eyes to me, look like they have faces.
 
Thankyou for all the wonderful comments. I am truly overwhelmed. I was feeling under a bit of pressure to complete the last two themes and have revisited shots taken for Joy coming up with a new one. (see post 228)

Appreciate you looking by Sarah. I used a flash to light the background on both 'Small' shots. This helped to illuminate the tops of the bottles #1 and give a bit of shadow, but as you say getting a pure white background is a nightmare. I will not give up though.
