weekly Fazer’s 2012 52 - Dun and Dusted

Hi, John, Glow, indeed, I can almost feel the warmth. Great colours.

Round, not easy but a good effort. I'd like to see a bit more pop, if you know what I mean.

Negative edit for me. But, closer :D, the left white bit is a tad distracting.

Cheers and sorry for the brief comments...got day of to go Christmas shopping :(

Hi John,

I like the reshoot of glow, it certainly makes me feel warm

Round, perfect for the theme and very Christmassy  Great detail throughout and I like the reflection and the blue background. Not sure if it would have suited being shot landscape rather than profile

Negative, I wasted hours of my life yesterday trying to photograph the negative sign on a battery and failed massively! This is nice and simple and well lit too, I prefer the cropped version.

Only one week left:bonk: Are you doing 2013?

Hi John,
Round, a nice simple take on the theme but effective all the same.
You've handled the lighting and reflection well for a shiny surface.

Negative, your edit works much better for the removal of the writing which was a little distracting. The bold contrast between the two halves of the battery really accentuate the subject and point of focus.

Good work all round. Iain

Hi John

quite like your reshoot of Glow , though I did like the original as well

Round...hmmmm , like it , good reflection , well lit & nice to see a BG thats not black for a change as well

Negative...edited verison for me though I can see why you left the text in originally . On theme , well exposed, sharp where it counts,...nice one mister:clap:

Thankyou for these comments. Unfortunately I'm off for Xmas with no internet access. Will try and get round your threads on return. Not sure about 2013.

And finally......................

Well done to finish John.

Busy - on theme and very topical with the season and the rain.. B+w a good choice but a little lacking in contrast/punch for me. Also very hard to know what is the right crop with so much street furniture but I think that a little more included to the right would work.

Hope you make it in 2013 but in any event have a good Christmas and all the best for the New Year.

Thankyou so much Michael and Alan. It's been hard at times but very rewarding, and everyone's comments have been so useful. I'm now off for a Christmas break. Will finish reviews ASAP

Wishing you all a Very Happy Christmas and New Year.

Have to agree with everyone else about it lacking something. congratulations on finishing.

Good one John, and the B&W works really well. I honestly can't think of anything I'd improve about it :)

I think all it's missing is a certain "out of the ordinariness". It's a very familiar scene, so maybe not the most striking picture, but it's absolutely bang on theme and well spotted.

A good spot for busy. I agree with Alan about needing a bit more contrast though. Don't you find those queues really annoying - why can't they line up long the building rather than across the pavement?

Congratulations on completing your 52.

A big Thankyou for all your comments, critique and advice. The last shot was a bit rushed with other deadlines to meet, but hey I finished. The 52 project was very rewarding, especially maintaining most of the themes in the appropriate week. I think the worst part, and I feel guilty about, was not being able to comment on my colleagues 52s in the appropriate weeks, or at all. Various family problems and serious illness (not mine) meant less time at the computer. I did however view all the work submitted and was very impressed with the way themes were interpreted and the superb results that were submitted.
I have decided to give 2013-52 a miss and devote time to a smaller project (although I have no idea at the moment). I am thinking along the lines similar to Iain (Blakester) 'Stones' and Andy (Posiview) 'Leaves'. A single item shown in different ways.

In the meantime I wish you all a Happy New Year, and good luck with your new projects.

Hi John

Catch up time, sorry but it will be brief as I want to get comments up to date :)

Art - Some nice stuff there, things seem a bit fuzzy to the right hand side, but spot on theme wise

Colour - Love the colours and composition, and the glistening floor - Nice one

Shadow - feel that works fine, agree the knot's interfere with the shadow, but like the B&W and the idea as a whole

<EDIT> ahhh that's much better, really like the second shot

Glow - Nice warm colour, real sense of heat and glow - nice one

Re-Shoot - I think I prefer the angle of the original :)

Round - Love the lighting, the reflection is good too, liking the nice clear surface too, well shot :)

Negative - Oh Yes, very clever, love the DOF and the subject matter, spot on

Busy - perfect finish, well spotted shot, liking the conversion again

Have enjoyed seeing your 52 this year - well done
