Facebook help please.

I really don't get the hate of Facebook, some seem to see not using Facebook as some sort of badge of honour, now that's just really weird, all Facebook is at its heart is a communication tool...that's like bragging you only use a land line...or I don't use a pager (now that's old school) honestly I just don't get that mentality...

Personally I love Facebook, it allows me to communicate quickly and easily with friends and family...plus the multitude of acquaintances one makes over the years...It allows me to follow subjects I'm interested in in a single location from special interests to company/organisations...hell a few weeks ago I used it to talk over the framing options for a print I'd purchased of a photography from the US..using it to share photos of the frame being made, picking out the best mount option when the print was with the frame to get the best option for the print...so that I have soon to arrive a wonderful bespoke frame, made from wood native to where the print is from finished exactly how I wanted...it world have been a lot more long winded to do that via email or any other interface...

I also as some posting in this thread will know make extensive use of Facebook for an on going life change I'm making...

Finally I also use Facebook for fun, sharing jokes, interesting links etc...

Honestly Facebook really is as good or as bad as you make it...and it's actually one of the more locked down places on the net with highly customisable security options depending on your needs

The weather has been sh** for ages Cobra !!! :(
Where's the heavy thundery scary skies, snow & hail - damn this nice pleasant warm and sunny summer, its crap for photography :(
There's some positive moaning about our fav moanable subject

Finally I also use Facebook for fun,
Thats about the limit of its usefulness as far as I am concerned Matt ;)
and don't get me started on t***ter I mean twitter

Therein lies the whole problem with Facebook. "Random people from the internet". Why would any sane person want to discuss their activities with a bunch of strangers?

It seems the urge to say something, anything and have someone, anyone reply is the driving force behind this phenomenon. There must be a lot of lonely people out there.

Unfortunately my IQ doesn't seem to be low enough for any active participation.

ironic that your doing exactly that now......telling us your thoughts on facebook.. what makes you think any of us want to know what you think about acebook.. why would random strangers on a forum want to discuss this with you.

my point being.. all the things you say lonely poeple do.. your doing...

so whats your IQ? :)

I've corrected your spelling mistake.

Thank you very much. As far as I'm aware you are a complete stranger (or should that be completely strange?) to me.
It is one thing for people who don't know each other to talk through a problem that could affect each other. It is a completely different matter for someone who has no positive comments to make on the subject matter to just wade in with comments that have no relevance to the original enquiry.

A quick look at your profile seems to indicate that you do indeed have many opinions on a wide range of topics. It's not always apparent that your opinions are in anyway constructive or helpful to the debate.

You complain that I am commenting to complete strangers, but that is exactly what you are doing! I presume you use Facebook. Your post seems representative of the "look at me" type of comment that Facebook users seem to revel in.

There used to be a saying that "Empty can make most noise". Maybe that should now read "Empty cans make Facebook posts".

Thank you for providing a perfect example to back up my statement.

Haven't read all of this, but can you social media types tell me what linked in is?
Keep getting emails inviting me to it, guessing its a Facebook type thing.

No interest in any of this lark and only asking to see how I can stop getting these annoying emails

Thanks in anticipation

**Mod Edit**
Not required thank you!

Thank you, seeing as I have taken early retirement and have nil interest in ever working again these people are totally wasting their time

Next question please, is how do I stop them? Never signed up for anything so how have they got my email address?

Thanks again

On the email, there will be a link at the bottom that says unsubscribe.....click it.

That's great, thank you

Was a bit concerned that it might be one of those dodgy sites where clicking on anything became a positive response

But he isn't on here whingeing about it - you are, and more amusingly deploring their low IQ while doing the exact same thing you are criticising facebook users for doing!!!

My head hurts trying to work out how many levels of irony there are in your post.
