F1 season 2015

Wonder if Bernie has had a gander at the increase in interest in the WEC series and thought let's copy some if their ideas and plaster them to F1 as that'll fix everything :-)

The changes needed for F1 should centre around making it easier to follow the car infont without wrecking your tyres.

making it easier to follow the car infont .
Read something the other day from Nigel mansel about using tungston skid plates in his day
He said he looked for bumps in the track so he could shower anyone following him with sparks as they wrecked visors with burn marks

Ferdinand Piech has resigned from VW
He was the man that stated VW/Audi would not enter F1 whilst ever Bernie was there and he ruled just like Bernie
Audi last year employed three key ex-F1 staff members. They were ex-Ferrari F1 team team principal Stefano Domenicali, former BMW and Williams engineer Jorg Zander and Gabriele Delicolli, who is a former Ferrari simulator specialist.
If they dont Rse up the engine rules for 2017 its a possability audi may just enter there are a few teams out there in financial trouble that could sell or they could go it alone

VW group produces road cars under the brands Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, SEAT, Skoda and VW.
It would be fun to see a skoda F1

Bernie needs to stand aside ,he really doesn't make sense most of the time . He's killing F1 IMO

New McLaren livery, doesn't look like a force India anymore!

I suppose it makes it easier for the front runners to see as they lap it ;).

It does look nicer than the old scheme though.

I would rather he didn't, endurance racing and F1 are very different disciplines.

Downforce / aero affecting the car behind is always going to be a problem in F1, I remember it was in the 1980s when the following driver often had to wait for a missed gear in the days of manual H pattern boxes. The effect on the tyres is a consequence of Pirelli being asked to make tyres that don't last forever, which they have done.

The only thing I can see wrong with F1 is the confusion with show and race
If they concentrated on show off the track, of which they are sadly lacking, and the race on the track they may have a basis for improvement
F1 involves you in the engineering and the politics and the personalities involved which cumilates in the race / races
It really isnt a switch on the tele watch something and move on, or shouldnt be
The involvement shifts people from viewers to those which want to experiance it live
Instead between races nothing or very little except Bernie, briatore, montezuma?, Berger moaning on about how rubbish F1 is
The problem with F1 is poor journalism and short sightedness nothing else

Facts and Figures from the last race
Lewis Hamilton’s win in Bahrain was his third win out of four this year and ninth from the last eleven races. That brings his career total up to 36, four shy of Sebastian Vettel.

He is also yet to be beaten to pole position this year. Four consecutive pole positions matches his personal best which he achieved in 2013. While he also took pole position in Australia, Malaysia and China last year, this was his first in Bahrain. He now has a career total of 42, three less than Vettel.

Perhaps the most striking illustration of Hamilton’s monopoly on the number one spot over the first four rounds is this: he’s led 168 racing laps so far this year, while team mate Nico Rosberg has been ahead for just five. In Bahrain he passed the milestones of 2,000 laps and 10,000 kilometres leading F1 races since his career began.

Hamilton has now started exactly half of his 152 grands prix from the front row. He gave Mercedes their 39th pole position which puts them seventh in the all-time list, tied with Brabham.

This was the 15th consecutive pole position for Mercedes. Williams hold the all-time record with 24 – running from the 1992 French Grand Prix to the 1993 Japanese Grand Prix – and they were the last team to beat Mercedes to pole, in Austria last year. Red Bull’s best streak was 16 in a row (Abu Dhabi 2010 to Japan 2011) and McLaren have a best of 17 (Germany 1988 to Germany 1989).

Daniil Kvyat equalled his best finishing position with ninth place. This was the fifth time he has finished in that position.

The Bahrain Grand Prix would have been Jenson Button’s 100th race for McLaren – but an electrical problem kept him from starting.

Bit of a lack lustre race with a fairly predictable outcome, with referance to teams if not drivers, the exception being Bottas and Kimi was a bit exciting at the begining
Lauda is hearing rumours that some teams are cheating the fuel flow limits
Where has this man been? two races back the FIA were demanding new sensors fitting further up the fuel line system to monitor just this cheating
Even further back the technical forums were debating just this point
But at that time it was where has Mercedes got its power from
Now it appears to be where has Ferrari got its power from, enter Mr Lauda

Big meeting of the stratergy group today over the futre of F1
either a few damp squibs or a complete mongral will appear
The group is split 3 ways when it comes to voting
CVC (read Bernie) 6 votes for the greedy
FIA (read Jean Toddt) 6 votes for the invisible man
The teams (top six teams ) if you are trying to work out which six and you are one short add lotus
So looking at that, those that dont care plus those that havnt a care versus those that are self interested equals the usual mess that we are in at the moment
Expect somat or nowt coming out
Just seen Mckenze is attending he is Bernie's boss the head asset stripper must be serious

Winning the constructors title 3 times, I guess Lotus (Whiteways TC) have a deserved place at the table :)

Lotus is there because bernie needed six teams and the name lotus is conected with a racing team that has a long history /name at least
Lotus F1 2012 to present 0 constructers
Team lotus 2010-2011 0 constructers
Pacific Lotus 1995-1996 0 constructors
Team Lotus 1954-1994 7 constructors
Or at least my little book says that

*** - Whiteways TC, Enstone

Lotus is just a brand name. It is the team at Enstone that get invited to meetings. Just like Brackley!

My mistake (its hard to keep up with the barmy rules of F1) the sixth team on the stratergy club is the fifth team after the top four teams and williams
So now its Force india from 2014

I agree - the rules are barmy, and I suspect one of the reasons why fan numbers are decreasing :(

So if you paint a red bull red no one will know the differance from a ferrari
Lewis hamilton is no better than maldanardo
and the noise is the main reason fans arnt buying tickets for austrian gp
And I thought only bernie talked bull sh1t
Keep talking F1 down Marko thats a great selling point
Prices are I suppose reasonable but not when you add travel and accomodation

http://www.bookf1.com/f1-austria/tickets.htm?gclid=CNLS7-qey8UCFePItAod9R8AbQ
Noise would be better if they relayed it to television sets louder but thats not what F1 is all about

"We're not winning any more and we don't like it and we want our ball back and we want..." As bad as Ferrari.

But Marko argues: "When this whole 'power unit' change came, a downward spiral began.

"These power units are not suitable for formula one, but as they are so difficult and complex, it will also be impossible to use them in road cars too," he added.

and yet,

Only last weekend at the Spanish Grand Prix, Mercedes engine boss Andy Cowell was talking about how the device that recovers energy from the turbocharger - which has been criticised as unnecessary and expensive - will soon be adopted in road cars on a widespread basis.

It's interesting to hear refuelling may make a comeback. Not sure what to think about that (or the other new rule ideas).

If refuling isnt too expensive it may come back
Or it may come back in a diffrent form, fuel cells rather than bowsers and hoses, I think all forms are being looked at from the point of expense
It has to be remembered that refueling was abandond on cost and time taken in the pits, they are talking changing tyres and refueling in about the same time as now so it has to be something different OH and safety but alot of yesteryears fires were down to the team tinkering with the nozzels to get a faster flow or the go signals being wrong taking the hose with them
I dont think the teams choosing there own tyres is going to make a lot of difference as pirelli gives all teams the same info for each cct

Facts and Figures from the last race

Nine different drivers have won the last nine Spanish Grands Prix – with Nico Rosberg the most recent to add his name to the winner’s trophy.

This unusual streak began with Felipe Massa in 2007. All bar one of the different winners are still racing in F1 today.
2007 Felipe Massa
2008 Kimi Raikkonen
2009 Jenson Button
2010 Mark Webber
2011 Sebastian Vettel
2012 Pastor Maldonado
2013 Fernando Alonso
2014 Lewis Hamilton
2015 Nico Rosberg

Rosberg has finished all five races this year in the position he started. But winning from pole position is far from unusual at the Circuit de Catalunya – 13 out of the last 15 pole sitters went on to win the race.

Rosberg’s pole position was the 16th of his career, putting him level with two other drivers currently racing in F1 – Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa – as well as Stirling Moss. It was Mercedes’ 40th pole position too. However Lewis Hamilton kept Rosberg from taking a hat-trick by setting the race’s fastest lap. That was the 23rd of his career, giving him as many as Juan Manuel Fangio and Nelson Piquet.

Hamilton also extended his streak of consecutive podium finishes to 12. This is the third-best in F1 history: Michael Schumacher holds the record with 19 (from the 2001 United States to 2002 Japanese Grands Prix) and Fernando Alonso managed 15 (2005 Turkish to 2006 Canadian Grands Prix). This was Hamilton’s 75th career podium.

Hamilton’s run of leading the last 14 races in a row is also the third-best ever seen in F1. The record for this is 45 years old: Jackie Stewart led 17 consecutive races from 1968 to 1970. Hamilton needs one more to equal Schumacher’s best of 15. However next on the calendar is Monaco, where Hamilton hasn’t led a lap since his sole F1 win there in 2008.

Only the Mercedes and Ferrari drivers have led races so far this year. That same quartet have also accounted for all bar five of the laps drivers have spent in second place this year. Surprisingly, the only other driver to have run in second this year is Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg, during the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Mercedes drivers have now spent more than 2,000 laps in the lead of F1 races. But they’ve a long way to go to reach record-holders Ferrari on 13,726.

Jenson Button made his 100th start for McLaren

The whole GP2 field would have qualified within the Q1 107% time. They would also all be ahead of Mehri, and all but four ahead of Stevens.

Maybe Lewis will do a three point turn in front of nico and claim pole

Lewis Hamilton has signed a new three-year with Mercedes.

Absolutely shocking decision from what poses as a Strategy Department in Mercedes!

I thought Lewis handeled the interview well and the crashed 3rd position board will have sent a message to the stratergy department
No doubt Lauda will have wispered a few words to them as well

Dear Lewis, now we own your ass for the next 3 years, expect a regular shafting...

He does seem to be blaming the pit wall rather than Nico this time though. For £9,000,000 per annum, I'd let the pit wall shaft me! (But one at a time and only once per race weekend.)

Selling yourself a bit cheap there, Lewis is earning over £33,000,000 per annum...

I was going by the BBC story and figure given HERE. For £33,000,000, I might allow it twice per race weekend!

When he parked at the end, was he considering a senna? That corner is nearest to where he lives.

As an aside, that demo GP2 car that Brundle demonstrated with the 18 inch wheels looked so much better didn't it? Let's get them into F1 soon.

Apart from the wheels were in the way of seeing the corners. Seats need to be higher to see over the wheels.
