FIA suspect fuel boosting chemicals in the oil
The last sentence looks as if a team was bleating cheaters, as it was merc and ferrari that were tested I wonder which team would snitch
http://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/fia-acts-on-suspicions-of-trick-formula-1-oil-systems/

I don't follow your logic though, who are you saying was cheating? Your link seems to say no one was.

The FIA made it clear that following the analysis, it was satisfied that neither team had been in breach of the rules.

"From these results, it can be concluded that the auxiliary oil tank is not being used to add performance-boosting components, either to the main oil tank or to the combustion chamber via the sump breather into the air intake," the report added.

No I said the FiIA suspected
The oil system investigation shows the lengths that the FIA is going to to ensure that all teams comply with the regulations, and that it addresses concerns rivals have about their competitors.
Now only merc and Ferrari were tested so who was voicing their concerns or to put it another way which team do you think that is losing badly would be whispering in charlies ear mindst you Marko normally shouts

There is a rumor that cvc is thinking if selling to Qatari

Preparing for the day when its gas and oil wealth runs out, Qatar is investing massively in nest-eggs around the world to ensure its post-oil prosperity. Sports are part of that investment portfolio, and F1 offers the promise of solid financial returns.

Investing in a sport that relies on the product that Qatar realises is going to run out. Kind of ironic.

Facts and Figures from the last race

Nico Rosberg took his 11th F1 victory which put him level with one of the drivers he shared the podium with – Felipe Massa – as well as Jacques Villeneuve and Rubens Barrichello. He also took his 11th fastest lap.

However pole position went to Lewis Hamilton – his seventh of the season, meaning he has already taken as many this year as he did in the whole of 2014.

It was Hamilton’s 45th career pole position, which means he and Sebastian Vettel are now tied as the currently active drivers who have taken the most.

Michael Schumacher’s record of 68 is still some way off, but when you consider Hamilton has now had 14 poles in the last 27 grands prix, the possibility that Hamilton might pass it – as well as Ayrton Senna’s tally of 65 – is looking ever more likely.

Mercedes were beaten to pole position in Austria last year but have taken every one in the 12-month period since. The last team to do so was Williams in 1992-3, when they set the record for most consecutive pole positions with 24. Mercedes need five more to match that.

Hamilton only led for three laps but it was enough for him to equal Jackie Stewart’s record for heading 17 consecutive races.

Hamilton has also equalled the second-longest streak of podium finishes. Yesterday’s was his 15th, equalling Fernando Alonso’s run from 2005 to 2006, leaving him four short of the all-time record held by Schumacher.

Daniel Ricciardo failed to make it into Q3 for the first time as a Red Bull driver. Only the Mercedes drivers have now reached Q3 on every occasion.

Alonso and Jenson Button picked up an unwanted record by being the first drivers to collect 25-place grid penalties. Button already has a total of 40 grid place penalties for the year so far, and that is likely to rise when he inevitably has to fit fresh power unit components later in the year.

Just look what happens when you let the un rich teams onto the strategy group
Oh the arrogance of Ron
http://www.pitpass.com/54191/Dennis-shocked-by-Strategy-Group
The strategy group was set up with bernies influence and biased away from the teams by the voting set up 6 for bernie 6 for FIA and 1 apiece for the influential teams (although thats come unstuck with force india) knowing full well the 6 teams cant decide which hand to wipe with But Bernie didnt count on Toddts invisable act and heavy dithering he thought he would just roll over and vote with Bernie
Now Bernie hates the stratergy group Toddt dosnt know where it is and half the teams think they dont like it and all of a sudden its the ruination of F1 Sort the money out between the teams (Bernie again) remove the artificial bits drs tyres (Bernie again) then there will be racing and money to spare for in season testing

Have to admit that I preferred the old Stowe and Club, from the layout of the 1980s and before. Stowe in particular was an amazing corner, in the cars of the time. I seem to recall the old course is still there (should have looked more closely when I was there in April for the WEC), they should just go back to using it.

So the possibility of a big shake up with regards car and engine design and more flexibility with tyre choice coming soon. Also, Honda are being given another engine for this season without a penalty.

http://www.football365.com/news/195...river-aids-and-overhauls-engine-penalty-rules

According to the group, the ban will feature 'particular emphasis on race starts' and 'will bring back the driver in full control of the car, enhancing excitement and unpredictability.' Driver coaching will also be outlawed.

The group's recommendations also include 'increased freedom of choice for tyre compounds' and a proposal for 'faster and aggressive looking cars' for 2017.

An unspecified 'overhaul' of the engine-penalty regulations will also be fast-tracked for the approval of next week's meeting of the World Motorsport Council.

The group has also agreed for 'an extra unit per driver for any new manufacturer entering the championship and, for the sake of fairness, the measure will apply retroactively to Honda for the 2015 season'.

Positive moves in the right direction?
I thought driver coaching was outlawed anyway
I take it the freedom of tyre choice dosnt mean they are free to use what they want. Only that there will be more choice from Pirelli to choose from
Aggresive looking cars so thats good bye to good aerodynamics then they still have to be built within rules unless they will be looking all the same
Engine penalties was always a farce and on the cards to be changed nobody without looking at the rule book can remember them
The extra engine (now rons donkey isnt a threat) seems fair
But what happens when the next manufacturer that does it the best starts winning a couple of seasons like ferrari like red bull like mercedes what will they do then
I hope it includes drs but it wont
The only positive is the start procedure which will be in the hands of the drivers rather than electronics or will it I am sure the bright boys will invent something else
How come all these proposals, that have been dithered about for months suddenly become important, or is it just coincidental that the pressure is now on the strategy group Or has toddt rolled into bed with Bernie and outvoted the teams

A few more details from the strategy meeting
Bernie wants to shackle Mercedes whilst the other teams catch up
Tyre temp fuel and anything else that is transmitted relevant to the car will be on the cars screen rather than over the radio
A race on Saturday for the third cars? and reserve drivers best gets to play with the big boys on Sunday
I smell a lot of nowt being done in reality but it sounds good
Bernie will have gone by the time F1 is on its knees

I'm glad I got home in time to see the whole race. Good day for the Wolvves!

Best race so far this season
Will Aston Martin race a Mercedes engined red bull chassis car 2017 that would be nice

They are now saying Mercedes has trick suspension being able to pump up and down
http://www.inautonews.com/mercedes-has-trick-beyond-power-downforce-report

They really are scraping the barrel to find something illegal about the merc
They would have to get round the regs
10.2.3 No adjustment may be made to any suspension system while the car is in motion
10.2.2 Any powered device which is capable of altering the configuration or affecting the performance of any part of any suspension system is forbidden
10.1.2 Any suspension system fitted to the front wheels must be so arranged that its response results only from changes in load applied to the front wheels.
10.1.3 Any suspension system fitted to the rear wheels must be so arranged that its response results only from changes in load applied to the rear wheels

They seem pretty impossible to get round but this is F1

So Auto Motor und Sport has managed to make such a damning statement, presumably without ever having had the chance to examine the car? Sounds like a lot of clutching at straws.

Fought until the end. Sad news indeed, such a good driver and funny person.
The company I used to work for sponsored marrussia and jules came to us for a corporate day. We had a demo car and one of their race simulators for a week. Jules came in and beat everyone's best times by over three secs first go. Top bloke, stayed much longer than he had to, was very approachable, funny, immensely likeable.

RIP Jules.

Facts and Figures from the last race

Lewis Hamilton became the seventh driver in Formula One history to win his home race three times – something even his idol Ayrton Senna never managed.

Nigel Mansell and Jim Clark both scored five wins on home ground – for Mansell, one of those wins came in the European Grand Prix when it was held at Brands Hatch.

Hamilton has a long way to go to match the all-time record of nine home wins, held by Michael Schumacher. However he had the advantage of usually having two home races per year during his time in F1.

Hamilton set a new record for leading 18 races in a row when he took the lead on lap 19.

Massa and Bottas both took turns in the lead, becoming the first non-Mercedes or Ferrari drivers this year to do so. Massa has now led races in ten consecutive seasons, but despite his excellent start on Sunday he remains the driver with the worst performance on lap one so far this year, losing a total of 13 places.

Hamilton’s pole position was his eighth of the season. That’s a new personal best for him – he set seven in 2008, 2012 and 2014. It also means he has more pole positions than any driver racing in Formula One today – 46 to Sebastian Vettel’s 45. Hamilton also equalled Vettel’s tally of fastest laps, setting his 24th.

This is the third time in his career Hamilton has set four pole positions in a row, but he has never managed five or more. However it was the 20th consecutive pole position for Mercedes. Four more for them will equal the all-time record for a team – and if Hamilton sets them all he’ll equal the same record for drivers.

Hamilton has out-qualified Rosberg eighth times out of nine races so far this year. The only other driver with as good a record is Romain Grosjean , who has consistently out-paced Pastor Maldonado.

However Hamilton is not the only driver on a hot streak. Vettel has finished in the points for the last 20 races in a row, which includes his last 11 starts for Red Bull. He needs seven more to reach the record held by team mate Kimi Raikkonen.

Finally, Fernando Alonso scored his first point of the year, with tenth place.

Nico seems to think he has a drop in form with qually as he concentrated on improving his race performance in the off season. I think it's more likely that 'normal' service has resumed from Lewis after being a bit crap (by his standards) in qually last year, along with the odd brake failure and a car that like to burn :-) not mentioning Monaco.

Waste of time for Lewis to qualify when he can't get off the line!

Marcel still has work to do too!

Still increased his championship lead by beating nico, thanks to ricciardo, so not the worst day he could've had

Nico would have been second or even first if he hadnt decided to shut the door hard on ricardo or maybe run the soft option tyres so he wouldnt have been there
Lewis must have thought he had run over a flock of Robins with the luck he was having but being the racer he salvaged the race
Maldanardo just how many penalties can you get in one race Anybody know what the record is, he must be near it if not hold it

That might change in Spa, the new regs will be in place, they all might struggle ;-)
They have four weeks plus from when they first heard about it to put something in place in the cockpit to give them the info to get the carbon clutches bite point correct plus all the things that arnt traction control but just act like they are
I wonder what Merc will put ferrari's lightning starts down to, they put Williams down to the track grip at Silverstone

Your right, will be interesting to see which teams 'interperate' the new rules the most creatively.

I'd love to go to Spa, it would have to be with some mates though.
My wife has offered to take me there for my 50th but she didn't really realise it would 3 days of solid motorsport with beer in the evening thrown in :-D

Kimi signed up for another year at Ferrari
Hope his car stays together as he has yet to show true consistent form
If he does manage to find it Seb could have a harder job
Then again Kimi is renowned for blowing hot and cold

Facts and Figures from the last race

Sebastian Vettel equalled Ayrton Senna’s tally of 41 career grand prix victories with his latest win in the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The pair occupy third place on the all-time list of F1 race winners, behind Michael Schumacher on 91 and Alain Prost on 51.

Vettel took 149 races to score his 41st win. Senna reached that tally after 158 of his 161 starts. Schumacher took his 41st win in the 2000 Italian Grand Prix, which was his 140th start, and Prost did the same in his 174th grand prix, at Mexico in 1990.

With neither W06 finishing on the podium, Mercedes failed to take a record-breaking tenth double podium finish in a row. They also failed to extend their run of 28 consecutive podium finishes which is the second-longest of all time, albeit far behind Ferrari’s record of 53 (though Mercedes is the only team to have managed half as many).

In fact, this was the first race since the 2013 Brazilian Grand Prix that the podium featured no Mercedes-powered drivers. Since the beginning of last year, the Hungaroring is the only circuit where Mercedes has failed to get a car home in first or second place.

Lewis Hamilton’s streak of podium finishes came to an end. He managed the second-longest of all time: 16 podiums in a row, three fewer than the record held by Schumacher. He also failed to add to the record for leading 18 grands prix in a row which he established at the British Grand Prix.

However Hamilton did score his fifth pole position in a row which is a new personal best. No one in the field today has managed to take six or more: Senna, Schumacher, Alain Prost, Niki Lauda, Nigel Mansell and Mika Hakkinen are the only drivers to have done so.

Despite a dreadful race Hamilton managed to extend his points lead over Nico Rosberg to 21. With the first ten races of the season complete Hamilton has 26 points more than he had after the same number of races last year, Rosberg nine less.

Daniil Kvyat scored his first podium finish and the best-ever result for a Russian driver – going one better than Vitaly Petrov managed in the 2011 Australian Grand Prix. Kvyat is the second-youngest driver to stand on an F1 podium – just 18 days older than Vettel was when he won the 2008 Italian Grand Prix. Red Bull ended an 11-race streak without a podium finish, their longest in six years.

The top four drivers in the race all drove for Toro Rosso at some stage in their careers. Among those drivers was Max Verstappen, who scored his best result with fourth place, and more than doubled his career points tally. Appropriately, he did so at the only track where his father stood on an F1 podium.

Pastor Maldonado attracted attention for the wrong reasons by falling foul of the stewards on three separate occasions during the race. All three infringements were for different reasons (contrary to some reports, he did not incur a penalty for speeding in the pits while serving a penalty for the same infraction). Maldonado has personally incurred seven penalties so far this year – three more than any other driver.
