Ash,
We don't really have an itinerary, its an f and c meet :), but if we swap mobile numbers I ca n let you know any plans we make the day before. I suspect we may split up as we have numerous photographic interests and there are 17 of us. Ill pm you later.

Well Andy we know what your itinerary would be and is trying out the pubs in the area to taste their local brew :D

How very dare you, I am teetally tototal. :)

Only 11 days to go.....probably time to start trying to organise a few things!

Some things you need to know:

Electricity is provided by coin meters, one located in the kitchen and the other in Woodside bedroom. There should be around £3 in the meters when we arrive and the agency asks that we try and leave about the same when we depart. Therefore, if everyone can chuck in a pound or two for the meters, that would be great.

We’re planning to pick up the keys from the agent in Belper at 3pm so we’ll be opening up shortly after that, hopefully by 3.30pm at the latest.

Departure is by 10am on Monday morning and the chapel should be left in the same condition as we found it!

Some things to sort out:

We’re happy to do a big shop for breakfast type stuff and split the costs between everyone (tea, coffee, milk, bread, butter, bacon, beans, eggs……etc). Any special requests, suggestions??

On the Friday night, I’m not sure I fancy trying to cater for 17 people all arriving at different times like I did in the Lakes! We’re not as remote this time and there are a number of takeaways in Belper, probably within delivery distance or only 5 minutes drive away. Does this suit everyone?

Should we try and book a table at the place over the bridge for some pub grub on, say, Sat night? (http://www.fayre-square.com/pub/mill-house-milford-belper/m7904/)

What about eating on the Sun night? There’ll be fewer people to cater for if we want to cook something in the chapel. Maybe everyone will be out shooting sunsets or the illuminated boats at Matlock Bath. Do you want to play it by ear and sort it out when we’re there??

There’s a Morrison’s in Belper if people want to buy sandwiches / packed lunch stuff and also plenty of pubs, cafés, tea rooms all over the Peak District for lunchtimes, afternoon tea etc!

Well Janet you can't expect to shop for 17 people but the basics of milk, bread, butter and tea is always handy....and we could bring our own stuff that we fancy, but it could be chaos if everyone wants to cook at the same time. :D
For me I'll go along what everyone agrees on, but as I'm not growing anymore so I'm happy with cornflakes and toast, tea or coffee in the morning and grilled cheese on toast for lunch and eat out at nights....after all it's only for a weekend.

Just looked at the map to refresh my memory how far it is, and to plan what time to leave. Holy moly it's so far north! Not looking forward to spending four hours driving up on my own... Maybe I'll leave Thursday night find somewhere to park up and sleep on the way. Then I can get up Friday, cook some bacon for breakfast, find somewhere to take some photos for a few hours, and arrive mid afternoon.

Are people planning on going on fairly early on Monday or are you going out somewhere first and then heading home in the afternoon?

Sounds good to me :) I'm happy to go with the flow really. Takeaway Friday night sounds easy for people who are arriving at different times.

Well probably the weather would influence things e.g. if it raining when we get up monday and going to rain all day I would think most people would just want to go home.
My perfect weekend would be dry weather all the time and on the way up (by motorbike) would stop at places of interest and on the way back..... using two different routes i.e. M40 and M1.

I think leaving time on Monday could well depend on how far you have to go. We are only an hour or so from home so we might well stop around the area until after lunch, unless, as Brian says, the weather is pants then its home to get the washing machine on. o_O

Err, don't forget we (or rather you!) are giving Asha a lift into Liverpool on Monday afternoon!!!

I'll still be asleep at 10am:sleep::sleep::D

Due to specific food requirements will be purchased en route to the Peaks, non of the above will be required for me thanks, except beverages.

Will arrive prepared with food.

Not for me thank you ( if everyone else chooses to dine out, I'll catch up with you after you've eaten.)

.

For me, it depends on what the Snaps wish to do

Err, don't forget we (or rather you!) are giving Asha a lift into Liverpool on Monday afternoon!!!

Errr yeah, don't forget Andy cos it's a bl**dy long hitchike from Belper to Liverpool:wideyed:

The ferry from Liverpool doesn't depart until the evening ( about 19:00 iirc) so if you wish to stay around the Peaks for most of the day then that's fine by me as check in opens about 17:00

Similarly, if you want to return home ( poor weather, bored with my company :p etc) then that's no problem...............I'm simply grateful of the lift(y)
Just drop me at the docks at whatever hour you wish and abandon me:crying::D

As if I would forget anything, my mind is like a coiled spring, albeit an old, rusty one with all the bounce long since departed.

Thank the Lawd that the CMS keeps you on track!:D

@Mrs Snap

Janet,

No shopping for me thanks,I only have coffee and toast in the morning and I will bring my Espresso maker and bread.

No problem with coins for the meter.

Takeaway sounds great for Friday and if you are booking the pub/restaurant over the bridge for Saturday then count me in please.

Thank you.(y)

I normally have toast and coffee for Second Breakfast...

Carryoot sounds fine for Friday and eatingoot for Saturday.

I'll bring candles in case the meter runs oot :D

I'm the same as Richard and Kendo. Takeaway on Friday sounds good because I probably won't get there until around 6 because I've got to work on Friday. I'll be leaving on Sunday afternoon to be back for work on Monday.

It's really annoying how work gets in the way of photography isn't it!

AAMOI.. in the uk who is traveling the farthest...for me it's 130 miles and about 2:30 journey time from Outer west London,

284 miles, 5 hours

The long range weather forecast seem to agree in Derby, there is going to be some light rain either sat or Sun

That's about 275 miles and 5 1/2 hours further up :)

People do tend to forget just how big a country Scotland is don't they. It only takes us about 2 1/2 hours to get into Scotland but another 4 hours to get to Inverness and that's still not near the top bit.!!!

On the Orkneys anything south is known as The South and the main island is called Mainland.... go figure?

Inverness is not really that far away its just that the roads are so bad it feels like you've been driving over donkey track for days!

5 hours 51 minutes (if I'm very lucky) distance is relative term when travelling by rail.

(though I expect very similar to Ken)

We drove up the A836 to Tongue a few years ago... worst A road ever!!!!

Mine's 195 miles and 3 hours 40 mins. I expect it to take quite a bit longer though as most of it is on the M5, and the last two times I've been on the M5 on a Friday the journey has taken about 2 hours longer than planned!

only a couple of hundred for me this time .just up the road

Too bleedin far for me

Public transport times corresspond as good here as they do in the UK:banghead:

As such I''ve gotta leave home at 05;30 on the friday am to catch the train from the village down to Nice then a bus to the airport.
By the time I arrive with you lot in the Peaks, I'll be fit for nowt but :sleep:

What with tog gear for the meet, cycling clothes / kit for when i meet up and ride with old road racing friends in the IOM and of course "ordinary" everyday clothes ( four all four seasons seeing as it's the UK!:p) means atm i have a case weighing 18kg and a smaller hand luggage case at about half that weight again ( and that's reducing the amount of kit that I'm bringing!) so if the Snaps decide to drop me IN the docks at Liverpool, I aint gunna float! :help::runaway::D

Travelling is not a a favourite passtime of mine, however I've no doubt it'll all be worth it .......:)

You would have felt at home here with temps of 31-34c

Yes Nice to London ( and several other UK destinations is straightforward.

It's the 60km (37 miles) from my home to the airport that can be a darned headache.

Yeah, I took a quick look at anticipated temperatures for the IOM ...only available upto the 19th for the mo but it's gunna be jumpers and jackets for me ....minimums of 12 and highs of 17:runaway::D
