Only 16 days to go! :runaway:

Anyone into spiders and things to forecast the weather o_O For me I'll have to get a weather forecast from London to the peak and back to decide whether (weather ;)) to come by motorbike or car....I usually use this http://www.accuweather.com/en/gb/denham/ub9-4/minute-weather-forecast/327007 for local weather and are quite good for what's happening for a few hours which could get me up there, but coming back h'mmm
The biggest journey I've done for about 12 years was to York and my son's partner lent me her BMW...the way to travel (y)

So far 100% of the meets that I've been to have rained the entire time, so don't expect this one to be any different :D

Most folk go on holiday to search the sun and blue skies...Not me, No, I head north to remind myself of at least one reason ( the climate and of course being too darned close to you lot:exit::D) why i don't have much yearn to return to the UK .

It's not going to rain Carl....I'm bring Mediteranean sunshine ....In fact i think I've done so on previous visits:cool:
Be aware though i return home with it ......It's only a temporary "loan" :D

As for a fortnight to go.....as usual i have not a clue what to pack ......t shirts, shorts or wool coat, waterproofs, scarf and fleece gloves??......The whole wardrobe i guess .....I hope my ensuite room has plenty of wardrobe space and Richards and Andy's (@Andysnap @medwaygreen) cars can accomodate half a dozen suitcases:LOL:

Bahh, a TRUE motard ( french for motorcyclist) rides all year round Bri......Grit ya teeth and bear it! :D

Not sure a 4x5 fit in my pack once I put a weekends worth of clothes mind.

A weekends clobber .....same clothes ( and socks :jawdrop::p) everyday matey .....just supply the rest of us with nose pincers:puke::D

As with any holiday in the UK, you will probably need shorts and tshirt, and then a wooly hat and coat an hour later!

I'm going to pack everything I own I think, just in case :D The best bit about owning a van is that you never have to worry about having enough space in the back :D Although it's not as practical as you think when you come to do your shopping. Three neatly packed bags go into the back, and when you get home there are three empty bags with their broken contents scattered all over the place :wideyed:

Well Asha it would give you all a laugh turning up looking like a drowned rat, but I'm worried about getting my gear wet :crying:

My UK holiday sounds like it could be more like a (weather) endurance test than a relaxing break:banghead::D

You gotta do it Bri.......I need a good belly laugh!! :D

As for your gear, if the T90 suffers a short circuit with the wet, then it's no loss is it? ( a blessing perhaps:exit:) ....just be sure to leave the proper cameras ( ie nikon :p) at home:D

..but think of the photo opportunities of dramatic storm clouds, a shot of heavy rain, snow or hail heading towards you, and not forgetting rainbows if the sun can force it's way through :D

I'm pasting a bit of info about the accommodation from the stuff they sent me for you all to get excited about!!

Location
The Ebenezer Chapel, which is easy to find, being right next to the 'The King William Inn' pub, on the Derwent River Bridge, just off the main A6 in the centre of the village of Milford. The village is about 6 miles north of Derby. There is ample street parking right outside the Chapel gates and railings, though the lane does tend to get busy during the pub’s evening opening hours.

Bedrooms
The `Ebenezer Chapel’ has eight good sized bedrooms, all having generous pine beds, mattress covers, non-allergenic Continental Quilts, two pillows per person, bed-side tables and lights. All bedrooms except the Woodside Bedroom has a ‘hot & cold’ vanity-basin and shaving light.

Ground level:

Well bedroom - twin beds, with featured well, recently rediscovered after being lost since the old `Durham Ox’ pub was rebuilt as `The Ebenezer Chapel’ in 1859!
Boiler Room bedroom - Double bed, with basin: (This bedroom was originally the site of the 1885 coal-fired boiler, which blew up and demolished the Choir stalls in 1901! (No-one hurt!).
Sauna bedroom - Twin Beds, with extra single bed and shower & basin en-suite. There is a large Finnish Sauna suite in a corner of this large bedroom, with full instructions provided.

Gallery level:

Large bedroom - Double and single bed, with cot, shower and basin.

Top Floor:

Cliff bedroom - Double bed with extra single, with basin and en suite shower room.
Front bedroom - Double bed with en suite shower room.
Middle bedroom - Twin beds with extra single, plus en-suite shower room with toilet, basin and electric shower.
Woodside bedroom - Twin beds, woodland and river view

There is a Double sofa-bed in the top floor lounge.

So, thats 4 rooms with doubles for the couples and another 4 rooms with 10 singles for the 9 'single' chaps. Plus, a sofabed for anyone who really doesn't want to share!

I'd imagine there will be some kind of genteel stampede to get the best room :)

I suppose I would be an outcast on the sofa bed because of snoring...but how do I shower and wash unless I can use someone's room?

Actually, if you speak to Steve nicely he might use his RB to dispatch your room mate, and then you won't have to worry about snoring :)

I believe that it isn't just his roommate who will be affected but the whole village. :D

There's 2 separate shared bathrooms as well the en-suite facilities

Looking at the map there is a river right outside. We could hang you over the edge of the bridge by your feet whilst you wash your face in the river :D

Well I suppose I could always stand in the rain in my underpants, but a witches ducking stool sounds nice IF a very hot day o_O:D

Ah just a matter of sorting thing out when we are all there as I'm easy going(y)

Genteel, this is f&c you're talking about  it'll be an unseemly dash to grab the best room not unlike Pamplona on a busy day.

Of course, @Andysnap and I will getting the best room. You lot can't get in until we unlock the door! :D:LOL:
Shhh, don't tell the others but what time are you getting there?

We are heading down on Thursday evening to make sure we are first :)

Actually, we are stopping half way - probably in the Lake District- and then coming down the rest of the way on Friday, as it takes about 6 hours( inc breaks) to get there.

Ahem, "cough,' the unwritten rules state that the best room is offered to whoever has travelled the furthest:D:D

They're unwritten for a reason.

I think it should be saved for the owner of any piece of crap old van that breaks down on the way, with them eventually arriving Saturday morning looking tired and weary like they've been walking through the night.

....could be a strike on the trains  Asha has to get through the common strikes in France  I've had a windscreen shatter a few times  and there's ......:grumpy:

Calm down Brian, you're not crossing the Andes by frog, you're just driving oop north a bit. And Asha is a native and a wily adventurer who can, much like Indiana Jones, escape from any situation you can think of. :D

Well Andy it all started in about 1950 when touring Wales and the half shaft on a Ford 8 (bit that connects from the axle to the wheel) stripped going up a hill. :D...but at the time

I've just bought a random selection of films to bring along to the meet (35/120) and the guy selling them has also said, "There's also some large format in an unmarked bag. I don't recall what the film is". Seeing as I haven't got any large format kit at the moment, I'm happy to bring it along with me if anyone fancies shooting from blind 4x5! Should be able to figure out what the film is by feeling the notch codes :0)
