Went to an early view of Exposed, Voyeurism, Surveillance and the Camera at Tate Modern this morning. Took over an hour and a half to look round. Found it absorbing. Some of it is early photography, a bit of photojournalism, other parts are about the growth of celebrity, still more about 'peeping Tom' photos, others about covert photography. If you are interested in that sort of thing, its well worth a visit. Lots of the photos are quite small, so you have to get close, but there are large projected images as well. Some well known photographers (Weegee, Cartier Bresson) and some well-known photos (Marilyn Munroe and THAT dress).

I think the topic of where does street photography cross the line into invasion of privacy has been discussed to death, and this show does make you consider the historic growth and what is/was acceptable or unacceptable.

Thanks for that, I'd forgotten it was on. I'll have to get down to it in the next couple of weeks.

How busy was it?

Hmm, was at conference at the Tate on Thursday and considered popping in here on the way out but having listened to one of the oddest speakers I've seen in a long while at a conference I decided my head wasn't up to it.

Maybe I'll get round to popping in at some point.

When I went not busy at all but that was before it was open to the public. Later on it got busier.

Thanks for the heads up, bit of a drive for me, but might try and make it.

Get the catalogue - it's probably better than the exhibition.

Went on a Friday evening, wasn't particularly busy.

reckon a googleable pdf?

I like the exhibition / theatre experience a lot too :( usually involves a nice lunch and a bit of dressing up. Will make more effort to get the train up
