Every photographer is suspect

I went two years ago to a safety online session organised by the local education authority at my daughters primary school. The sessions was imminently sensible and very well provided.

It was very disappointing how during he Q&A session the mums only focussed on photography in public spaces. They would not belief me when I pointed out it is not illegal and that we are all dirty men. Oh the irony as they often ask my wife whether I've got any good photos of their child as I always have my camera with me.

But as they kept going on and on and on about it I tried to change the group discussion. And highlighted how many of their 9 year old, already have a Facebook accounts, and Instagram account and God knows what other online accounts. My daughter was refused access to those at age nine as it isn't age appropriate and besides when you sign up it clearly states it's for 13 years and older. Yet someone they see it as harmless, even after the session on online safety. And they actually don't check their accounts and use those (and what other sites like kik etc) unsupervised. And not only that mummy and daddy actively support breaking the guidance, so they've now been taught that that it is ok to do that. The lea adviser strongly advised them against that but they weren't haven't it as they can see their aunty in Ireland etc.

But yes photographers are all paedophiles and it is illegal to take pictures in public.

It really does make me sad.

I was quite surprised a few years ago while on holiday and enjoying the sun around a swimming pool to see a proud father videoing his children swimming. Waiting for the mothers of the other preciouses to start screaming P****, I remembered it was France and I laid back and enjoyed the sun.

As this session was organised by the local authority, didn't anyone from the authority point out that your view was correct?

yes definately no photographing children in public spaces. Lets have zoos -theme parks - places of interest and sports events without children on weekends .
Public transport without children on weekends as well, what a great idea. Then us photographers won't have to worry about taking photos in these places. Oh lets just add roads and high streets to the list as well.

Of course that means that the photographic press and media generally will have 5 days off a week but have to work on weekends.

Nope they didn't. I honestly don't think they know. They merely advised to be careful when posting pictures online as school uniforms, buildings, embedded location data etc can all reveal where they are and hang out. Sensible warnings in my opinion. But they didn't have a clue regarding photographing strangers.

Well what a crock of s*** these women are.
You can't have a rational discussion with any mother about their kids.

I have never known any sex offender that just has random images of kids playing I public etc.
But I have known of close relatives that have pictures whilst babysitting etc.

You can't argue with stupid people, they just bring you down to their level and beat you with experience

To be fair, Photoshopping old abuse with new faces can be lucrative. I would class it as a good think that you don't know them doing that  you are in the clear :p

that may have been counter productive - it would have been better to say that we aren't

I can help but be honest :)

Lol how funny would it be if I actually did say that ;) damn you've got me thinking now. I bet that British reservedness would have stopped them from confronting me.

perhaps you should go for devestating honesty " I am of course a collosal pervert... but i have no interest in your snivelling brats , you on the other hand are a different matter... :naughty:." that should win them over
