I went two years ago to a safety online session organised by the local education authority at my daughters primary school. The sessions was imminently sensible and very well provided.
It was very disappointing how during he Q&A session the mums only focussed on photography in public spaces. They would not belief me when I pointed out it is not illegal and that we are all dirty men. Oh the irony as they often ask my wife whether I've got any good photos of their child as I always have my camera with me.
But as they kept going on and on and on about it I tried to change the group discussion. And highlighted how many of their 9 year old, already have a Facebook accounts, and Instagram account and God knows what other online accounts. My daughter was refused access to those at age nine as it isn't age appropriate and besides when you sign up it clearly states it's for 13 years and older. Yet someone they see it as harmless, even after the session on online safety. And they actually don't check their accounts and use those (and what other sites like kik etc) unsupervised. And not only that mummy and daddy actively support breaking the guidance, so they've now been taught that that it is ok to do that. The lea adviser strongly advised them against that but they weren't haven't it as they can see their aunty in Ireland etc.
But yes photographers are all paedophiles and it is illegal to take pictures in public.
It really does make me sad.
