Every little helps!?! Tesco Broadband? Pah! *update*

Wow that one is all over the place.
Well curiously, I checked it many times against their own one and it was virtually the same reading every time,
are you sure yours is right? ;)

got them to disable the DLM & put us on a faster profile, which worked fine for ages,
They did that for me too, it lasted all of 48 hours

Unbelievable! :rage:

Spent well over an hour again trying to order fibre b/band upgrade. Passed on in turn to 3 `advisors` My initial order which they cancelled by mistake, wasn't fully actioned & has just been hanging, neither cancelled nor processed.

I now have to wait 24-48hrs before re ordering! FFS

Unbelievable indeed.

Likewise talk talk are saying that I should let it settle for 10 days. Funny that as their cooling off period is 10 days ;)

You a cynic too? ;)

Maybe give it 8 days then. (y)

I'm redoing my master socket as I got the parts coming in tomorrow. I took it apart this morning and noticed two things.

1. The incoming cable is terminated on a very old NTE with screw terminals, yet the cable is not the old heavy black cable at all.
2. When opening it up to that level I also noticed that our alarm company wired in the alarm at the NTE but at the provider side. That is rather naughty and if I am not mistaken that could cause for some issues as well.
3. There weren't any screws in the two faceplates that are on my NTE

So before I'm giving them too much of a hard time, I'm going to sort out our socket as I've ordered a new backbox, the latest OpenReach NTE, and the mk3 OpenReach faceplate as well. All with IDC connectors. I'll see what it is with that installed and redone.

I'm 1.5miles from the exchange, but 0.5km from the cabinet. So in theory should really be able to get upto 60, at the very least 40.....

Well that seems to have done the trick, with considerable improvements. Not bad for 10 minute work to rewire the master socket.

Tried online AGAIN this aft.................still showing as order in process & won't let me order! :banghead:

I decided to ring them, went through the options & got through to a guy who I could actually just about understand :wideyed: Anyroad, the upshot is I have to wait until tomorrow to re-order, as the 24-48hr wait doesn't include w/ends.

I only want to spend my money FFS. `Kin jokers. :punch:

I think they're all pretty much the same. I had similar from BT when I upgraded to infinity 2. They managed to screw my order up and I'd been with them for years. It's fine now but I have no loyalty to them at all.

Just to cheer up Cobra

Got home yesterday and Virgin Media have cut us off from 10:30am yesterday.
After chasing around, youngest being told they could see the modem and to turn it off for 30 mins, then I got home and 4 phone calls later and a walk around the block, discovered from a neighbour they'd been working on the cabinet, replacing boards that day. No warning, no notice, away we go. Seems a few people were lucky and caught the engineers when they weren't working but we're disconnected.

Virgins response is to book a home engineer visit but not until sometime Wednesday. Erm, that's useless it's a cabinet fault, but they have to follow their procedures, even though it's agreed the home engineer can't touch the cabinet and will probably have to log it as a cab fault.

There's just a hint they've been at the cabinet. Door not secured, wire everywhere, cigarette ends...

VM are a left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing company, our experience of ordering business broadband and phone taught us that.

We say to VM account manager when placing the order : "Can we get xyz?"

Back office in the Philipes says : "We can do xyz for you"

UK account manager says : "OK, if you order we will do xyz for you"

Men in VM van say who turn up to do the install say : "It is completely impossible to do xyz, it has never been possible and would need a complete redesign of the company systems to achieve it. It was the Philipines that told you we could do that, wasn't it? They have no BLEEP BLEEP clue!"

And just checking the BT engineers site, it seems that its now the end of October before fibre is enabled here, around the 25th I expect it to be put back another month, just like the past two years
Just checked again we are not even listed for fibre now!!

Home internet is fixed - youngster is happy. Found i had the local managers ddi number in my phone from issues I had previously. Gave them a call this morning, sent him the photo, resolved an hour later

Just checked, its just under under 4Mbs down and 0.6Mbs up, still poor :(
But still fast enough :p

Aye, if they wanna p!55 me off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I spent an hour trying to get on site late yesterday, then again this morn AND after lunch, before they put up a notice that they were having problems (ha, nothing new there then)

I finally decided to ring them & after a 20 minute call, THINK it may be sorted?

Best thing was this eve, I got an email from them to fill in a customer survey! :wideyed:

Anyroad I completed it & sent it back. ;)

Yeah - Dido gonna be a little busy now to reply to your non supply
Erratic speeds, which she never sorted anyway, I thinks I should reminder her :D

Hmmm, I'm sorely tempted get in touch with her again, but no doubt she'll be a bit busy atm  & I don't want to delay the slight chance that I can actually get fibre soon

You have more patience than me that's for sure!

:arghh: Jeeeeeez, An hour ago I had an email saying my order has been cancelled! :rage: WTF? :banghead:

Patience really has just about run out now. :help:

Anyroad, I rang them & spent 35 mins on the phone to the Indian call centre & told them it's their final chance, otherwise I'm changing + i'll be onto Dido again AND i'll be ont'tinternet kicking up as much fuss as poss.

I was put through to a manager? who was very well spoken & had virtually no accent, so was easy to explain to & understand. Apologies by the bucket load & the upshot is I think  it may be sorted.
Asked him for free connection as recompense, which he agreed + a one off £5 credit.

The new date for fibre is now 13th Nov (fingers crossed, smiley) So the wait continues.

Well I guess that's some compensation

Well, after mine has been put back god knows how many times, that latest date was 28th Oct.
Its not even showing up now :(
Although there were a couple of open reach guys working (?) 100 yards down the road yesterday.
Looks like my little corner of MK is still in the dark ages!

If they were working nearby, you might be getting nearer. (y) At this rate though, you'll have fibre before me!

tbh, I find it a little strange that MK isn't already sorted. We're out in the sticks compared to you. Blimey we've only had this new fangled electrickery for a few years. :D

Well over 95% is, I live in a town, to the west, just inside the boundary,
I think that they have snails laying the fibre, coming from the East :D
(They used to use ferrets to run cables up pipes, or maybe its just this ferret has no legs? )

At this rate though, you'll have fibre before me!
It must be getting on for 3 years since they first "promised it" here.
So I'm not holding my breath

You will have to move a little further west then; we have fibre in Buckingham!

Anthony.

If it hits 3 I'll be happy, well no not really as BT are still not giving me a date for fibre what's that been now? must be nearly 3 years ago that they said it was imminent

I recently got a free upgrade to my broadband, from 100Mbps to 150Mbps

I recently got a free upgrade to my broadband, from 100Mbps to 150Mbps
Still waiting on a fibre date :(
According to the BT engineer that I was speaking to, the best we can hope from this out dated exchange
(The Romans built it on their way from Verulamium to Lactodorum I'm damned sure)
is 2.5 occasionally it does hit 3mbs, apparently, but I have my doubts about that too.

Is Santa not bringing it next week then? :exit:
I've been norty, very very norty,
so norty in fact, I'll be buying my own presents (again) this year,
But it was worth it :D

Sorry to hear it is still not there.

I've been enjoying a pretty nice and stable 45Mb for the last month. But now it is dropping again slowly. I bet it is their cheap and nasty router again.
