A sort of modern equivalent of a post card. Remember them?

There is something about the feel of a good camera. It's nice to hold and a joy to master. I'm happy we are moving on, in the days of 35mm film my photos would come back and have that many doubles or trebles (just in case photos) and mostly crap. Next time out I'd try to rectify the faults if I could remember how. Today we can rectify immediately and take as many shots as we like. The ergonomics of the camera will not change but I am comfortable with the IPhone can take great photos. It still takes great skill and imagination to produce a great image, skill and imagination that this enthusiast has not got but still able to produce a decent photo.

Yes but slap a selfie stick on a smartphone and you're good to go!
And you'll look dead cool at the same time.

Sometimes a memory is more important than image quality. Use mine all the time.

This! There's more to photography than image quality. Some of my images I have the greatest sentimental or emotional attachment to are technically poor, it doesn't make them any less important to me.

Great do my Nokia Lumia can do this but so what? I prefer everything about using my X100T and its f2 lens.
I hate using my phone for photos!!!
