Exactly, getting caught when misbehaving on them.People have been prosecuted for their use on roads/pavements, including some students who ended up getting driving bans for riding them while drunk - they're classed as motor vehicles so if you get caught misbehaving on them (and riding them where they're not permitted counts!), you could end up with a motoring conviction and points on your license.
The legislation is decades out of date, doesn't really have this in mind when written and due an update. The law enforcers are well aware of this and only really enforces it when the rider is clearly misbehaving.
Though I should clarify I’m only considering getting one.As mentioned, there is a clear risk in using it and it’s better to wait for legislation to be updated (eventually.... like most legislations related to tech)
