Euro 2016

I didn't see much premiership footie last season and I'm not a spurs fan so haven't seen Kane play but he has been a disappointment. He seemed a yard off the pace against Russia and I wondered if he was carrying an injury. Roy should have subbed him in that game.

I think he is on a downer carried over from the awful finish Spurs had to their season, very hard to just shake those feelings off. Complete contrast to Vardy who finished on a massive high, confidence is everything
Kane is a good player, but he looks like he needs a rest, Dele Alli is also a lot less lively than in previous England appearances, maybe he is similarly affected

Not going to say the same for Sterling, just overrated and undertalented, hoping that's the last we see from him this tournament or even better for good

I would be very pleased of Roy mixed things up for the last game - keep some of the players fresh for later stages.

Lets see Sturbridge and Vardy start, lets see Wilshire and Barklay in for Lallana and Ali. Maybe even try a different fullback and give Stones a run out too.

Didn't realise they'd already qualified for the later stages :)
 
They need to win and qualify top of the group which will mean they play a 'weaker' team (3rd place qualifier) in the next match. Slovakia are a better team than Russia or Wales !

I am eating my 'humble pie' now.

Can I change my mind ? Slovakia were so poor but England couldn't beat them. Russia are abject but England couldn't beat them. Good luck to Wales in the next round.

It was an infuriating game to watch. We dominated possession but, as soon as we got anywhere near the Slovakian penalty area, we hesitated and didn't seem to have a clue what to do next. This gave them the opportunity to set their defence and we then struggled to make any progress into a very crowded area.

Just needed a little tweak for last night's game
 
I thought changing a few players was good - why have a 23 man squad if you will not use it, plus we do need to keep players fresh, and give runouts to others. I thought Clyne played himself into the starting 11, but Henderson and Wilshire were poor. Rashford should have come on and not Kane and would have liked to have seen Barklay instead of Ali.

Anyone else tempted to drop Hart for Forster? Admit that I am on current form!
 
After all my criticism of Rooney in the past, I actually think he was really good again last night, and should have played from the start. Sturridge was very impressive, but prior to Rooney coming on we lacked imagination on how to get past the Slovakian team bus which had broken down in their last third.
 
'I would dare to suggest our Welsh friends don't 'crow' too much, there's a fair chance they will get knocked out next match by some 3rd place qualifier and England will progress.
Personally I hope they both qualify.

errr we are just enjoying our ourselves, We don't believe we have the divine right to be at the tournament. We might have to wait another 58 years for another chance, let us revel and celebrate. It might be over on Sunday.

It's pretty arrogant for you to say that wales will likely get knocked out by some third placed team and England will progress.
That's why I hope Wales progress,and England don't. :D

Ok I'm probably going to get roasted here but I just don't "get" football, I love the occasion and build up to big tournaments, but then I watch the hyped games and I'm underwhelmed. I watched the Northern Ireland Germany game, it was so frustrating, want to see the home nations do well, but all I could see was an awful lot of running about and very little result. I tried watching Spain Croatia definitely more skill but meh, left me cold. I'm a huge rugby fan, played when I was younger, never played football so maybe that's why I don't get it. Compare the euro offerings thus far against the rugby summer internationals this past 2 weekends, action, skill a plenty, nail biting stuff, no comparison imho. Ok I'll get my coat now :exit:

I feel the same about rugby.
I played football as a kid and loved it, then at secondary school they made us play rugby. 2 games teachers; 1 was a 1 eyed foul mouthed psychopath who taught us rugby leage, the other a smart university graduate who made us play rugby union. I hated it, every second - it was just running around getting cold and muddy. Completely pointless IMHO.

Nowadays - I don't care a bit about Union, but I like to see local teams winning at League - not enough to sit through a game (though I have done)

Watching Italy at the moment, I think England lucked out getting Iceland, Italy are not impressive.

Portugal weren't earlier either, but I bet they'd put in a more spirited performance against us.
 
Italy had nothing but an unbeaten record to play for tonight, so why risk injuries and suspensions? Pretty chuffed for the Irish teams and Wales. England, meh!
 
Can anyone help... The BBC shows who England, Wales, N.Ireland and ROI have in the next round of the Euros, but cant see who Scotland have????
 
Well i just bought a Euro 2016 Iceland shirt from Sports Direct so....

hoping a kind Icelander will adopt me on my next visit and i don't have to live here any more.
