Englands fastest speeders

Don't think you can break even on this one, Steve, let alone win, though I grant your endurance is quite remarkable.

LOL. Nothing is harder to accept than the truth sometimes, even if it's against the grain of politcal thinking.

Your right the truth is you broke the law of this land and crucially got caught, convicted and punished nothing is going to change that, if however you want to campaign for a raising of the speedlimits then go for it, but give up with the bleating about getting caught as much as you feel you were safe and not doing anything wrong the law says different...

Hell I was done for driving without due care and attention...dispite the fact I maintain the reason for not seeing a small, dark green car that was only partially on the road in deep shadow with the low evening sun in my eyes as the reason why I didn't see the car I smashed into...I cannot get past the fact I hit the car, the one thing I shall for the rest of my life be forever greatful for is that the people from the green car were no longer in the car...

Just to clarify as I haven't seen anyone point it out yet, the speedo on that bike is kph not mph. Still ridiculous speed at times but not quite as quick as some are assuming.

The Speedo is in MPH. Very easily attainable on the Superbikes of 1999.

Huh. I ain't bleating, just putting my speed into context. Totally different to your offence.

Other countries have higher limits and their roads aren't a blood bath. Actually my offence is nothing to do with my views to the NSL being raised to 80mph. I'd still be so far over I'd be in court. I'm not even on the list in the OP, why my 138mph even enters the equation beats me, but people like to mention it.

f you crash at 70, you die, you crash at 138mph, you die. I struggle how thats easier on the emergency services or family of the deceased.

So then Dr St4, what do you base your thoughts on?

As for which is worse for emergency services, I think I can give an opinion on that, you cannot.

I don't care if you kill yourself, seriously, I don't give a hoot. But, like I said, someone has to clear that up, someone has to pay for it. I'll take a gamble on you living at 70 which is far more likely than 138, and save my money thanks.

As for nothing coming the other way, great, you were lucky, but unless you can give a cast iron 100% guarantee, every time, then your point is worthless. Now I have answered your point, move on to the next flight of fantasy please.

Gamble on living at a crash from 70mph...ok....

Anyway, whats more dangerous, 75mph weaving in and out of traffic on a busy wet surface motorway, or 138mph on a deserted quiet one.

In your answer, I'd like to here about pile ups, total number of vehicles involved, number of KSI, and liklihood of the collision happening.

Awww come on Stevie....Ya have bleated a wee bit in both threads :-)

What does it really matter? Both are braking the law, get caught, pay the consequences, end of.

Nope sorry - 167mph he redlines the bike in top gear - thats about right for a R1
Off a roundabout when caught behind the people carrier he's doing an indicated 50+, which is about right

The porsche is moving around roundabouts and 60mph around roundabouts is easy on a bikle if a good rider and committed, which it appeared he was.

Sorry thought we were discussing. I was also basing it on experience of big bikes and running cameras, only mine used to be a bullet camera inside my helmet recording to an external device.

However, if we knew the road, knew the distance between the roundabouts (google maps), did a bit of maths...then the average speed especially on some of those stretches would give a very good idea. Lets just say footage like that in the past has curtailed many peoples road usage.

We could do that but it's an awful lot of hassle for an opinion that in the overall scheme of things don't matter that much ;)
I was basing my opinion on the experience I have of driving at 100mph+ (on race track) and knowing that stationary objects (or almost stationary) go past at a faster rate than they appear to be in the posted video

See above, nobody is saying that 1990's superbikes couldn't reach that speed, just I don't think it was doing it in mph in that video.

I may not agree with him, but I'm starting to think I'd really miss Steve if he stopped posting now.

@ST4 You hear that? No suicidal driving and no attacking any dogs that are bigger than you, we like having you around here

A wolf might get me on Rannoch Moor, there's talk of them being reintroduced ;)

Don't make us come up there and hurt you.

You can hurt me if you drive me up to Rannoch Moor first thing on a sunny morning.

What, as I drive by and you call a cab? :p ....:exit:

As an owner (for the last 8 years) of one of those bikes (Honda Fireblade) - Yes he was.

So long as you drop me and I get the light that's cool. I'll walk back to the train station. No trains at 3am. Which is when you need to be up to be there for the right light. Damned summer.

Now THAT I have noticed of late. Even down here.

Midsummer is 2 weeks away. A forum member and I have a great plan. Drive to Elgol, (he drives I sit) shoot sunset, drive to old man of storr and climb up, it's not a long drive (1hr tops) and climb about 2-3hrs. That's all it would be dark for, torches would suffice. Shoot pre dawn and sunrise up there. Got to be magic.

Weather is blocking this great and wonderful plan.

I have a zzr1200, commute on it everyday.
I've had another look at the video, I think it's been sped up for impact, hence some of the confusion.

Hypocrisy.

...........Carry on :)
Fank you
(although I prefered my word :p)

I was talking generally too ( although as you mention steve's case he may admit it , and tbh he hasnt got any choice but to do the time - but judging by his posts in this thread he doesnt seem very sorry he commited the offence, only sorry that he got caught)
Maybe so. Some people enjoy the adrenalin rush.
The general point i was making though is that its not the speeding thats frowned on by 90%
It certainly appears that way in ALL the threads
its the speeding and then crying about the coonsequences/ not taking responsibility for you actions / whining about why the police caught you in the first place
Ah well yes you do the crime you do time but I don't see Steve @ST4 bitching about that.

:D

Ah OK it all becomes clear, but 138 is a little too quick, even to be escaping from a wolf. No wonder PF didn't believe you :D

don't fret sarah , you've got at least 8 more months before he has the opportunity to stack a BMW 720 into a tree and go the way of Paul Walker. I just hope it is only a tree and not a family car.

How good is this thread? Where else on the internet could I read driving advice from a man who apparently has such sublime car control and understanding that he rolled a nothing front wheel drive hatchback the same day that he bought it? Or where else could I enjoy the experience of a serving [?] police officer taking up his leisure time to demonstrate how he tells me what he thinks I said, no matter how many times I ask him to read and re-read the actual words I really wrote!!

This thread is epic! Here's to the next fourteen pages! I have to thank Steve for starting it (y)

I think you will find it is nearer a year as he got a 20 month ban, Pete. :D

Its certainly a classic and fast approaching the MILF thread.
(edit its overtaken that one :) )
The answer was given in post 2, and yet it kept running

There was a milf thread, where? We're there pictures? :)

I don't recall offering any driving advice other than 'obey the law' and 'don't drive like a complete pillock' which doesn't really take the driving skill of the Stig to come up with

you're right about the thread though - where else could we see someone defending the god awful driving skills displayed by the Porsche driver with the irrefutable logic of " I think they are good, so nah" - that is where else apart from a primary school playground
