SO why take off Young who was having a reasonable game, bar that dreadful dive? He was causing problems to their defence, although not a lot of end product.
Yes, they were well set up and organised, but unless we play teams like Germany, most 'lesser' teams will play like this. We should be good enough to break them down and even get their keeper to make a save in the 1st half!
Would Spain, Germany, Holland and the like be happy to settle for that?
Well I would assume that he had burned himself out, you can't spend a whole game running as much as he did and still have enough left for the last 10 minutes every game, bringing on fresh legs makes sense, and it was paying off too, like I said SWP was causing problems and won 3 free kicks in the time he was on, all in dangerous positions.
That last 10 minutes you saw practically nothing of Adam johnson - same reason I would assume - he'd burnt himself out. Had milner, walcott or lennon been on the bench I would have assumed he'd have subbed Johnson too for the same reason.
First you claimed their keeper made no saves in the last hour, which he did, 3 in the last 10 mins. Now you say he didn't make any in the first half - which he did. Gerrard, Cole and Rooney all had shots which were saved. Next you'll ignore this point and claim they should have been able to force a save in the 10 mins between the 25th and 35th minute

Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's a good result by any stretch nor an amazing performance but some of the reasons you are giving for the same conclusion make me wonder if you watched the game or just read the match report.
This quote sums it up perfectly from their coach "We had a plan to avoid defeat and we made the plan perfectly." Matches like this are going to happen and unless you convert a chance early they either end 0-0 or 1-0. Convert early and the team then have to come at you and the game can often then become a 3 or 4-0 result.
I mean look at Italy, two 0-0 draws in a row.
As for rooney and ferdinand, I think ferdinand didn't put a foot wrong but Rooney was still misfiring and I think this was definitely capello putting reputation and potential in front of form.
