DPOTY25 Chat Thread

Congratulations @Norkie for a great winning image in August.
The year's league table is still very open at the top, with at least 4 people in the running for the year's title.

Congratulations @GreenNinja67 for an outstanding image in September's challenge - first entry and a winner! Some other superb entries as well though, so it's looking very close at the top this year with 3 months to go:

Some excellent Scary images - poll is up

Now we need to start thinking of themes for next year's DPOTY. Please pop any suggestions in this thread please, I'll be thinking of my own ideas but I'm open minded about it. Not NSFW open-minded though!

So what is this list then Lindsay?

January theme is Cold
February theme is Macro / Close-Up
March theme is Cars
April theme is Spring
May theme is Work
June theme is Rain
July theme is Domestic Animals
August theme is Respectable
September theme is Cool
October theme is Leaves
November theme is Remembrance
December theme is Night

Just a draft list?

Exactly that (as I put in the title of the dpoty 26 thread) - a proposed list of possible themes, open to discussion and amendment.

Good list, although I'm thinking macro might be better later in the year as there aren't a lot of little critters to tog in January/ February.

I like the idea of macro involving something other than critters, although I appreciate it might take some out of their comfort zone. Could be tricky for anyone without specialised equipment though.

I think September is good for macro. Still critters about but also fungi.

Strict macro requires the right lens, but that's why I added Close-up - most lenses focus to about 18 inches or less.

Well done @Jammy Dodger for a great winning first entry of the year!

Well done @cuthbert for winning Novembers challenge.
Updated lreague table below. Still everything to play for at the top of the table, but the rest of us still have a chance to increase our tally...

I've only just noticed this but why are some entrants managing to get 0 points?

I suspect they entered an image but did not secure any votes :(

Well shot Cuthbert, and congrats on the win.

To be entirely clear about the spreadsheet: if the cells are greyed-out, there was no entry; if the points cell is zero, it's either because they got no votes or didn't enter that month.

Thank you everyone, genuinely really shocked I got the most votes, there were so many great entries (there are every month), but it's been so much fun trying to get these all fitted in through the year. Shame as we get towards the end, it does get harder - not seen much decent light for weeks in these parts.

A few days left for December entries. Even I shall be entering one in the hope of getting above the bottom of the league table!!
I'll be putting up the poll for December and the first thread for 2026 on Thursday morning.

...and don't forget, a prize is on offer for the year's winner, a free print of your favourite image (of your own) from Trade Canvas Print upto £80 in value.

Congratulations @nog for your winning entry in December.

So congratulations also to @rpn for achieving the most points over the year. You can now start thinking about what image you would like printed by TradeCanvasPrint - let me know by PM and I'll give you details of how we have arranged this with Ben over there. It'll either be TP refunding you the cost, or a discount code to use and we pay TCP.

Well done Keith, and thank you Lindsay for all your hard work through the year ;)

Thanks Lindsay and thanks for running the DPOY, congratulations to rpn for the win and being top of the board most of the year

 Congrats, Keith, and very well done.
Thank you so much, I'm quite surprised about the win. There were some really nice shots by everyone.

I think what's great about last year's challenge is that 10 people had winning months, and 8 were runners up, so that 13 people had very successful entries, but I'm also impressed by @skullfunkerry and @tijuana taxi who entered in most months and submitted consistently good images. but lucked out on the voting. This shows that the more voters we have, the better it is for everyone. It also proves that the challenge works as a shooting exercise, as it's not actually about winning anyway, taking part is it's own reward - being able to submit something to the theme, and especially when you get any votes at all - I was only able to enter twice myself, but it was great to get a few votes in the last month. Very encouraging.
