dope / Cannabis..

maybe they saw the report last week that Cannabis (THC) has been found to reduce the size of tumours and they are to self medicating! :ROFLMAO:

And the police agree with you.

Many years ago I read a report about football hooliganism written by a high ranking police officer. He stated that in the 1970s when football fans took alcohol into the grounds, hooliganism was bad. Now they take canabis instead and the amount of trouble has diminished significantly.

However, when football fans go abroad, they revert back to alcohol as they don't want to get caught by customs with canabis - and guess what the result is!!

Steve.

FWIW, that report was originally written about the terrace's chosen use of Ecstacy [MDMA] in the early 1990s but the idea holds true!

I'm sure it was more general than that and was more about canabis use - but it was a while ago and my memory isn't what it was so I will take your word for it!

Steve.

I've had a crap short term memory for years. Even worse since giving up all smoking many years ago and having a brain tumour removed. Maybe I should have continued using the stuff?

Absolutely.. which is why I suggested calling the police. You have a right to expect fresh air and be able to open your windows without other people's emissions entering your home... that would be equally valid for cannabis, cigarette smoke, barbecue smoke, or anything else if it's a constant issue. I used to have an issue with a neighbour constantly having barbecues in summer.. even if it was raining.... he was obsessed. Sounds petty to complain, but you can only go to work with your freshly laundered clothes smelling of charcoal grilled sausages for so long without it becoming wearisome.

Well if you are really that concerned about things you and your kids are breathing in, see if you can get someone to sort out the rest of it because " Air pollution is responsible for 29,000 premature deaths a year in Britain - ten times the number of people killed in road accidents - according to a review by the Government's scientific advisory group, the Committee on the Medical Effects of Air Pollutants. " Let us know how you get on(y)

Oh ok.... how about this.

"Dear Lancashire council,

Can you please make everyone stop driving their diesel cars, as it aggravates my asthma. While you're at it, can you please switch off all factories and production facilities that burn fossil fuels.

Thank you."

Thanks Rich!... Whatever would I do without you? :)

The point being you seem really concerned about somebody toking next door to you.Well if you were that fecking concerned do something about it and stop asking for other peoples opinions, does that make your decision making any easier now? Personaly I don`t give a flying toss if you report them, join them for one or go around and face up to the problem.

Why you addressing this at me and not the OP you moron? I've not asked for anyone's opinion, nor do I have cannabis smoking neighbours.. I think you need to actually read the thread before you engage your big mouth you unpleasant little man.

[edit]

Have you tried cannabis?.. it calms you down.

My apologies, for addressing the pot smoking at you, my mistake. But your statement " You have a right to expect fresh air and be able to open your windows without other people's emissions entering your home... that would be equally valid for cannabis. " really is a joke anyway, so tell me then what have you done to fight for your rights of breathing pollutants? Let`s keep it all tidy in one thread eh? ;)

Apology accepted, and reciprocated. :)

The issue I complained about was us not being able to dry any laundry outside without it smelling, not how pollutant free the air is... merely whether my underpants smell of grilled pork or not. Air pollution was the furthest thing from my mind. As for your point about sorting it out yourself and not complaining, I did... or tried to. I was told to **** off. Where do you go then? Start a fight? No.. I did the only civilised thing left to do; complain to someone who could sort it out, which is pretty much all that's left to the OP, as he's tried to negotiate too.

As for clean air, well.. I don't drive a diesel, which is becoming rare these days where everyone and his dog seems to want a diesel for some stupid reason, as diesel engines produce massive amounts of particulate pollution compared to a catalyst equipped petrol engine. Even so, I have opted to do the vast majority of my driving in a small 1 litre car with very low emissions. I also refuse to renew cars for no reason. I have 2 cars, one is 12 years old, and the other 8. This is not through financial necessity, but a conscious choice. The 12 year old car is perfectly serviceable, and the 8 year old car is literally as new with only 15,000 miles on it. The 8 year old car will continue in service until servicing it becomes untenable. The 8 year old car will remain in the family until I die. A 2004 analysis by Toyota found that as much as 28 percent of the carbon dioxide emissions generated during the life cycle of a typical petrol-powered car can occur during its manufacture and its transportation to the dealer - and this is from a company well known for wanting us all to buy a Hybrid.. so that's probably a VERY conservative estimate. People who trade in cars for a new one every 2 or 3 years are irresponsible.

With the exception of this computer, which needs to be what it is, every single household appliance is chosen for it's efficiency and nothing more.

I, when allowed to, buy everything in bio-degradable packaging and not plastics.

I also don't subscribe to the upgrade culture that drives manufacture and this economy based on endless growth that is utterly unsustainable: My phone was made in 2006.

I re-use computer parts when upgrading other machines in the home or studio. My wife's machine still contains parts bought in 2004.

I walk if it's practicable to do so instead of driving.

Public transport in this town doesn't work and is not efficient. A bus with a 8 litre diesel engine and only 10 people on it is NOT efficient, or "green" no matter how many idiots try to tell me that it is... so I don't use the bus.

I never fly unless there is no practicable alternative (this was a tough one... I love flying).

I refuse to buy a Hybrid... they're an ecological disaster. I also evangelise like a Mississippi preacher to any idiot who tells me they're thinking of buying one. Don't do it people.... they're an ecological ****ing nightmare!

Off the top of my head... that's what I've done, which is probably a great deal more than most.

Incidentally.. what have you done?

[edit]

Someone smart arse will probably point out that one of those cars is a 4.6 litre V8... and they'd be right... but it does less than 1500-2000 miles per annum. It's only insured to do 3K a year. I've worked out that my fuel usage with the Micra and the Mustang, is approx 40% less than it was when I had one "average" car... The Micra averages 52mpg urban.... (which is, incidentally, considerably more than you'd get from a Pious... I mean Prius.

Well what a little bun fight!
I must be every environmentalists nightmare  :-)

@Pookeyhead Fair comment and like I say people have to do things for themselves, do what you think or feel is right whatever the decision, nobody can make that choice for you.If it does not turn out how you hoped then wtf, at least you made an effort, it also gives you the chance to explore other avenues to sort out a situation if it did not get resolved the first time around.

We are the same here, shop at Aldi so packaging is kept to a minimum.Paper and cardboard is used at home on the compost heaps, you gotta have cardboard in your compost or it ain`t proper compost.

Nor me I cannot afford it, your phone is that modern eh?

I re-use computer parts when upgrading other machines in the home or studio. My wife's machine still contains parts bought in 2004.
Similar position, I have not touched my PC for about 4yrs now other than a new DVD writer, the rest was a hand me down from my boy.

I got no car so got no choice but walk or bike.

Does not work in the majority of towns.

My last holiday abroad was Bulgaria about 3 yrs ago and that was the first one abroad for a long time.

The position I am in means I cannot afford period.

I sift through all the fruit and veg they throw out at work as it is not fit for display, but b****r all wrong with it.Take it home and use it, I always have a good supply of fish in the freezer from what my boy brings up when he goes diving and spear fishing. So probably as much as you but not as much as others :D

Because not so long ago, diesel was super cheap and diesel engines were becoming less agricultural, and more refined for car use. The Government in their ever forward thing wisdom told everyone that diesel was much less polluting than petrol and more economic. Coupled with the fact diesel was at least 20p cheaper per litre, many people switched from petrol thinking they were doing the right thing and also saving a bit of money. Once enough people had switched, diesel shot up in price to way above petrol and then the government told us we were all evil for buying diesels and punished us with massive excise duty taxes.

I think it pretty much sums it up :(

@Pookeyhead & @u8myufo - Do either of you hippies grow your own cannabis?

The only weeds I grow is Dandelions and vine weeds :D I have now turned to Christianity as my saviour (y)
