There is a difference between agreeing that is acceptable for dogs to jump up folk (I don't), and arguing that it is unacceptable to intentionally set about harming a dog who does such a thing.
The reply directly above yours shows I'm not misreading some posts.
For the record, I've never made any mention of meeting the approach of an 'enthusiastic' dog with force. That's not a part of the discussion I've engaged in at all. It's certainly not how I'd manage the situation. The dog would probably just get ignored entirely. After all, it's only doing what its owner has allowed it to think is acceptable.
When I was collecting a Christmas tree this time last month there was a dog at the plantation. Whilst in the car park it walked up to me, dropped a stick at my toes and then sat in anticipation. I gladly played fetch with it for a few minutes. If it had run up at me, muddy paws on my jeans and slobber hanging from its mouth I'd have been much less inclined to entertain it.
The posters advocating meeting a dog who doesn't pose you a threat with violence are no better and no worse than those who think it's acceptable for their dog to run at strangers. It's both ends of the spectrum I take up issue with.
As for the keyboard warrior definition (sorry, I can't multi-quote from my phone); are you suggesting I'm one?
