I sent item not delivered via e-bay ( estimated delivery 18-20 december)

Seller's message:
"Dear Bazza, thank you for your message. Very sorry that we couldn't reply your email earlier. Sincerely beg your forgiveness. Actually, we have posted the item on 2012-12-13 19:45:22 from our UK warehouse. But during the Xmas and New Year, it´s the busiest time of the year for the post ofice, it may dealy 2-3 days to arrive. Could you please confirm your shipping address in eBay and PayPal? ( address included but deleted by me) If your address is correct. Item should have been arrived. Would you please go to the local post office to have a check? Maybe the postman has put it there. Or is it possible that someone have received it for you? We will also contact Royal Mail to confirm the status and investigate. Your cooperation and understanding would be appreciated. When there is still no information, pls feel free to contact us. Have a nice weekend!"

I have had no notification that my local post office has my order. For me to get to my local post office means a long journey (at least 2/3 hours) at great expense on possibly a wasted trip. My address is correct and never had similar problems especially within the UK postal system or with world wide orders. To say how disappointed with your delivery service is an understatement and be assured I will never use or recommend your company to anyone. You claim you have posted the item yet cannot provide any proof via a tracking number, so I have serious doubts about your having even sent it. Ok the item value isn't that much accepted but that's not the point, there is no excuse for bad service.

And your beef would appear to be with (or should be with) Royal Mail. Maybe you should find out what has happened before you slag off the supplier. What form of carriage did you pay for? 1st, 2nd, Parcel, Special? If it was anything other than special then it may well be still with the Royal Mail.

you cant blame the sender for the PO not delivering

they have been leaving parcels with any old neighbour or on our door steps around here or to the wrong address.

Nothing in the original post puts me off this company at all - they seem to have responded very reasonably.

I think the company seem very reasonable.Quite often royal mail use temporary staff to cover the christmas rush so maybe you have had a "novice" postman who hasn't left a card. Definately worth checking with your post office just in case.Just wondering where on earth you live if your "local" post office is 2 - 3 hours journey.........

I doubt it will cost any more to make a phone call than it would to somewhere more local ;)

According to the item number in the link [320718880933] the order was for a £7.49 filter with free delivery. In which case it's unreasonable to expect the supplier to use a tracked service for such a low value item and in any case the item is most likely either delayed by the Christmas mail volumes or delivered to another address in error. (I assume a filter would fit through a letterbox, so it's less likely it would have been left somewhere).

The response from the supplier seems reasonable to me - I have made purchases of much higher value where the supplier (camerabox) completely ignored all emails.

In this case the supplier has replied (albeit a delayed one), apologised and offered to investigate/enquire with Royal Mail.

I ordered a camera + twin lens kit from Jessops recently and they sent it with one lens - spoke to at least 3 different people (2 in store and one on the phone and not one of them apologised for the time and hassle I had to go through to rectify what was their mistake).

i would be more concerned about putting a 3-75 cp or uv filter on my lens

The supplier has done nothing wrong. Could have got lost in the post.

2/3 hour journey to your local delivery office at great expense. Are you having a laugh?

We ship goods via Royal Mail all the time and usually never have a problem, but over December we have had three losses. I think the seller has been quite reasonable seen as though Royal Mail allow up to 15 working days to delivery any mail before they consider it lost.
As an online retailer myself, it's customers like you that we would prefer not to have.

I think your reply is very harsh, you actually say that they could be making fraudulent transactions by not sending goods out....serious allegations

We have an online clothing business, and that type of reply would get you no favours.

It's Christmas, loads of stuff goes missing or delayed.

I agree that it's not the sellers fault that it seems to have been lost in the post, but maybe as a gesture of goodwill they should just send you another? Not exactly a high value item is it?

.....why should they? High value or not makes no difference and I suspect any "gesture of goodwill" would be wasted here as the OP is blaming the wrong person.

....just MY opinion of course...

I used to do this all the time when my items went missing, which was VERY regular. (3/10 items weekly) The items cost 99p on ebay, cost me about 17p wholesale. Postage cost more than the item.
It got to a point where people like the OP couldnt be pleased even if you drove to thier house and hand delivered an item.

In the end I gave up being nice and started telling them where to go.

Im afraid on ebay, Politeness and good service means very little to some people, especially when they know full well Paypal will give them thier money back straight away.

I think you wanted to vent your spleen with this thread, rather than creating something that would serve a purpose to other members.

Yep, something has gone wrong in the ebay/paypal/postage triangle, it happens.

isn't the contract with the seller, not the delivery company?

maybe it's a bit harsh insinuating they never sent it, but it's the sellers responsibility to ensure the goods end up in the buyers hands.

Maybe some of the more rural villages if you're reliant on public transport, and even then 2/3 hours should be a round trip. Heck, that's still pushing it.

That, or it was an all out lie intended for use as ammo against the seller.

It is the sellers responsibility to ensure the goods arrive. At the moment the seller has just asked the OP to check with his local delivery office which is reasonable considering the mandatory 15 working days has not yet passed. (RM do not consider anything lost until 15 working days, even Special delivery items)

We ask customers to wait the 15 working days should something be delayed. After that we will resend the goods and put in a claim with RM.

Would also like to know were you live if your 2/3 hours away from a post office?

once it is clear that you have waited beyond the royal mail 15 day wait, andyou have communicated with the seller to resolve the non delivery you can begin a dispute with the seller, ebay will then in form the sellerof a non arrival dispute.if you and the seller do not agree a resolution within a short period ebay will then make a decision, which in your case will either be a replacement sent or a full refund (dependent on what you have asked for)
this is standard ebay procedure

If you feel a seller is not being honest then you can infact report the problem to Ebay earlier than 15 days.

I had a similar situation timewise about some goods, and the seller kept giving me excuses, eventually I lost patience and started a resolution case - within days he sent a replacement out and the "original" never surfaced.

Looking at this particular seller - they have been involved in a considerable number of transactions and the percentage of complaints to positive recommendations is negligible.
