Why is it when you go into a very well known DIY store to buy something and you see it on display but cannot find it on the shelf for taking away you then ask the assistant for help. He turns round and tells you "Oh sorry sir, that item is now discontinued". I said no matter the one on display will suit me fine and I'm prepared to pay the advertised price 70 odd quid. Then he tells you "sorry we can't sell it to you as it is a display item only" . A supervisor arrives on the scene and I explain the situation only to get told the same guff from him, he goes as far as saying the kitchen sink on display does not belong to us but the manufacturer gives us one for display purposes only. I asked what happens to these "Discontinued items" Supervisor says they go back to manufacturer and the probably end up in the crusher. They would rather crush the damn thing instead of selling it.....absolutely bonkers.
Jeez why don't they remove them when the stock runs out.
