Having some fun with the dishwasher, whish is a 2 yr old Indesit.

For some reason it is getting pat way through a cycle and then tripping the fusebox. Know it is on the RCD protected circuit, but it is not blowing the fuse in the plug, just the RCD.

Did it during the day yesterday, when it was a way into the cycle, so emptied it pulled it out as it wouldn't switch on.

When pulled out, it regained power, so pushed it back in.
When pushed back under the worktop, no power again, so pulled it out and got power.

Ran it half sticking out, and tripped everything out quite early into the cycle.

Any one any ideas?

Still confused, as it has not blown the fuse, just the RCD.....

When my dishwasher trips out, I tell her stop taking so much acid.

Good one!!

Have pulled it all the way out, and the plug was not in properly. Have pushed in and restarted it.

Is it possible that the part pulled out plug could have done this?

sounds like a loose wire somehere to me.

We had this on our eight year old Miele. Because at the time we had an older distribution box, we were able to plug into a non-RCD circuit (naughty I know) and keep going for a while. Then the plug fuse blew and I knew it was time to get the engineer.

Result? water was leaking into the heating element while caused the initial earth leakage and when it blew, it took the electronics out as well. Cost was £400 for new bits and fitting, so we now have a Bosch instead!

The moral is; don't leave it until the fuses blow as it can be very costly to deal with.

Anthony.

It's possible that the loose plug was causing the problem, if the connection was not good it could trip the fuse/rcd. Now that you have it plugged in properly, keep an eye on the machine and if it goes again call an engineer.

:agree: it takes very little to trip an RCD, you have more than likely found the cause of it:)

Ran fine earlier, so must (hopefully!) have been the loose plug. It does move slightly, and I wiggle it back into place, which must have pulled it loose over the past couple of years.

Thanks everyone!

The reason it's tripping is because it's an indecit! get a Bosch or a miele and you'll be set for years

Yup, but at four times the price!

But not your wallet, some peeps can't afford £400 on a dishwasher............in one go...........

No camera snobbery on this forum, Dishwasher snobbery, but no camera snobbery!! :):):)

I had a siemens which is the same as the Bosch and Miele ones ...uttter cr*p failed every 18 months !

Typical German products, the brand says quality, the product is not ! ;)

Check your filters thoroughly too and run a wash with no tablet as well...

Many years ago I used to Sell Miele products, superb quality kit, very much the L glass of the white goods world but they didn't wash the dishes or clothes or vacuum the carpet any cleaner. Best bang for buck imo is probably still Zanussi, mine is 20 or more years old and going strong (tendancy to get smelly if not used regularly).

Anyway until Apple comes up with an iWasher a working Indesit is as good as you need ;)

Unfortunately most Zanussi products in this country aren't up to the standard they used to be. We had a zanussi washing machine which did 17 years but were warned away from buying a new one and bought Miele instead.

Siemens are part of the Bosch group but Miele are an independent family run company.

true say, but I'd rather splash out In one go for a machine that's gonna last years than pay £100 for q machine that's gonna need repairing every year. We've had a Bosch one now for near 10 years and it's only just started going wrong.

True, but as is common in the electronics industry they tend to all purchase from a handful of manufacturers. The model I has was identical to the Miele one.

Lazy gits with dishwashers anyhoo, no sympathy for ya :D

I am a sparky and get these faults a lot. It will either be....

1] A loose connection or joint. Put a new plug top on if its moulded or check and tighten connections if its a normal plug top. Put a new socket on, turn the power off check you are sure of the right wires and reconnect.

If the appliance still trips even occasionally it gets more technical ;). Buy a new one its not worth ****ing around with!

RCD's trip on minute faults either on the live or neutral side. Generally its a water related fault and often intemittent which make them a real pain to diagnose. So try 1] first and hope!

Cheers,

Dunc
