Discussion / idle chat thread (2022) Week 52 Showcase

Anything that wasn't butter was called Margarine,
Although originally made from animal fats, most margarine consumed today is made from vegetable oil.

Flora
Plant oils (rapeseed, palm*, sunflower 3%, linseed), water, salt 1.35%, plant-based emulsifier (sunflower lecithin), fava bean protein, natural flavourings,

I only really wanted to take a pic of it to be different. I figured there'd be lots of great shot of flowers, so am just trying to post-rationalise my decision. :D

Pretty sure I've mentioned it before, but a good technique (IMO) is if you can't do the same thing better, do something completely different.

Type of product[edit]

Flora is often incorrectly referred to as a margarine. It is, however, officially classified as a spread.[1]

"Flora is a brand of buttery spread, sold in the United Kingdom, Czechia, Slovakia, Ireland, Finland, Sweden, Spain, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, New Zealand, and Australia. It is produced by Upfield (except in southern Africa where it is produced by Siqalo Foods), and sold in other parts of the world under the brand name of Becel. The original manufacturer Unilever came up with the brand after being asked by medical professionals to develop a healthier alternative to margarine, lard and hard butters."

And as per my post, the ingredients are pretty much identical ...
What's the saying ? if it walks like a duck....

Well - the world has spun and here we are again on the cusp of a new theme! Get those floral pix in today folks!

 :naughty:

If Fauna goes on holiday, is it faunacati...?

Been so busy these last couple of weeks and will be for a while longer, I have a snap for Flora, but know I can do better, just need the time to spend.
Like wise comments have also taken a back seat. Will also be away from home in a couple of weeks, sorry.

Maybe George Faunaby could write the song?

Silly me! I forgot to mark my Technology entry as the tech (reflections) as well! Hopefully, tomorrow's theme will lend itself to the tech aspect as well...

(Pretty please!!! :cobra:)

Not a cat in hell's chance (y)
Although I feel that Tim (@LC2 ) will like this one ;)

On to week 14 ...

There was speculation that this weeks theme was going to be "fauna"

However its not Unusual for me to ignore second guesses :D

But I will give you a heads up, next week is another snappers choice,
so a good time to think about getting your technique sorted (Reflection(s) ) if you haven't already. :)

its not Unusual

AAah ... now where's the statue of Tom Jones or a pair of ladies unmentionables .... that would work

Man goes to doctor and says, "Doctor, I keep singing 'The Green, Green Grass of Home."
Doctor: "You have Tom Jones Syndrome."
Man: "Is that rare?"
Doctor: "It's not unusual."

Do you want me to add it retrospectively ?

If it's not a PITA, yes please but if it is a pain, I'm sure I can cope!

If I can shake off this chest infection by next week, it's nit Unusual to find me shooting jazz
Nice theme.

But the theme is Unusual
NOT,
Not Unusual. They are 2 totally different descriptions
Next week is snappers choice, you can make it up as you go along then. :p

Hmmm yes, it's much trickier to find something Unusual rather than something Not Unusual. We'll have to keep our eyes peeled.
I shall probably come up with something on Wednesday evening.

And of course it wouldn't be unusual for me to throw in a "not unusual" theme, in the not too distant future,
to make people doubly think ;)

Of course, now you've said that, you won't do it....

.... unless, by me pointing that out, you might!

The cat is both dead, and not dead.

I'm not sure that last bit helped... or the second bit... or maybe the first bit.

The cat is dead - it's been in a box with no food or water since 1935! Unless it's an extremely unusual cat...

I must say that I'm glad this Challenge exists. I completed last year's and failed for a couple of others but it certainly keeps up one's interest in photography. Without this challenge, my big camera would come out perhaps once a year plus a few snaps on my Fuji. But each week, rain or shine, this challenge keeps the dust off my gear and images/ideas always in my mind. Keep going everyone.

Just had a look and noticed that I don't have the Tech tick for ICM.

I did it during the Snapper's Choice week with these shots...

I'll reference @LC2 - otherwise he may not pick it up...

Keep up the good work Tim :)
