Discussion / idle chat thread (2022) Week 52 Showcase

I just would like to say that I am sorry for not commenting on images, at the moment I have a lot of serious thoughts in my head. I will try to comment when I can though.
No worries Dave. I'm sure no-one minds. I'd rather you took Susie for a walk and enjoyed using your camera instead of commenting or thinking too deep.

Real life is FAR more important than anything photographic. Hope you get sorted (or at least some answers) soon.

Thanks both, what it is that has got on my mind is, my GP is testing me for cancer as I have lost so much weight and now under 9 stone. Went out for a bit today but came back knackered.

Good luck Dave! We're here for you mate!

Oh gosh I can understand it must be very worrying. Wishing you the very best of luck. There could be other reasons, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Look after yourself.

Rapid Weight loss can also be a sign of diabetes, easily controllable.
Don't get too despondent Dave :)

All the best Dave. Sending some positive thoughts and hoping it’s nothing too serious.

Kicking myself. Went for a walk this morning and had to stand aside as a couple of huge heavy farm machine vehicles went past - you know, the sort that is really unusual to see on a road? My phone was in my pocket. Why didn't I think?? :banghead:

Down here, it's more unusual to NOT see some heavy agricultural kit out and about! I even see traction engines on a fairly regular basis because there's a steam workshop on the way to the g*lf club and the low loaders unload on the road.

I'm in a rural spot, but we don't very often see such big ones on the road, especially when I'm a pedestrian. They may have been more for construction than farm - I'm not sure. I missed my chance anyway!

We get the odd steam engine around here as there are are a couple of steam fairs on the island. You can usually hear them coming :)

I was set up with camera on tripod to photograph this church when I heard one coming.
I've put this image in to two competitions and both times they thought it was either photo shopped or was a composite . In this copy I have cloned out the white lines and a cat's eye, and run it through Nik Efex. The photo shopped comment came when it was in colour and no cloning had been done.

My Grandfather had a 6" scale model traction engine built. An uncle still has it and other than shows, it gets used for pulling a float in his village carnival and as a power source when he's chopping logs down to length. (6" scale means that it's 1/2 size in terms of linear measurement.)

I do think they are things of beauty and I love the smell ha ha! A friend of mine has one too. An all consuming hobby I think :)

2022 whizzes along and here we are at the even of theme 15! :naughty:

@Cobra code 10 in the posting aisle.
@wornish probably best to just ping Chris if you spot random posts being mistakenly added to the main thread :)

I'd rather have Deep pan crisp and even
I did think about posting that, but I thought I'd leave it to someone else :D

Great news Dave (y)

Plus I now have my childhood love of peanut butter sarnies back, as have been loving them for the last few days washed down with a glass of full fat milk.

Great news, Dave.

Up right my street. Peanut butter, but I prefer the Dutch Calvé Pindakass, sarnies and a glass of full fat milk.

Glad to hear the news Dave. It shows what a vicious cycle worry/stress can be.

That must be so frustrating!
I've found myself desaturating some images (sunrise/rape fields) as I have been accused of upping the colour of what was there - when it was all nature's own invention.

Yes and annoying for you too - it really is that yellow!

I took several pics of the steam roller and I was so chuffed to get one where the smoke went through the gap, but plainly they thought it was too good to be true. Someone else pointed out the gravestones were in just the right spot. The stars align and they think you cheated  :ROFLMAO:
I think with the double plume of smoke, they thought I'd cloned out something from behind.

I think people are so distrusting these day's when a decent image comes along "it must be photo shopped" :(

Week 15 eh?
Anyone that follows the list of themes, will not be surprised at this weeks theme
Yes its a Snappers Choice,

And a good time to get your technique in, if you haven't already. That is Reflection(s)

Mind you, I do like the constraint of a theme.
A few people have said that in the past,
which I guess makes "Snappers choice" doubly challenging for some.

If anyone prefers a set theme - make it reflections. Sorted :)
