Digitall's 52!!! Week 27 Art

Produce: An excellent result, Allan.

Quad: Definitely fits the theme. I prefer version 2, and I'm glad I didn't have to clean that bike up! :)

Shoot: That's sooooo clever and spot on for the theme. I agree a bit more space at the bottom would be great, but I'm totally in awe of the set up.

Jean

A great shot for shoot - amazing to have caught the moment - agree with others about the composition with space at the bottom, but great shot!

Phil

Amazing shot for Shoot... and a complicated setup too... gotta agree about a bit more space at the bottom though.

Missed your quad first time around Allan - but I absolutely love your re-edited version of it.
It has bags more punch than the original
(Although I think I preferred the original crop . . . it just feels a bit more intimate - sorry to be awkward ;))

It's a great interpretation of the theme though and I love the feeling of motion and flying sand

Shoot : Absolutely amazing set up.
I would have thought they were droplets rather than being propelled upwards, so thanks for sharing the technique.
And the end result speaks for itself. Hope it went down well at camera club.

Nice shoot shot, would have been tempted to add a black background as per your produce shot but it still doesnt take away from the face its a really clever set up.

Well done

Week 15 and it has gone so fast.
Well this is a drop of milk dropped into a glass of colored milk and caught just as the column is reaching it's peak.

Hey Allan,
Just flicked through your set, you have some cracking shots there!
My fav is Produce the milk splash is great and the space you gave it perfect ;)

Week 15, nice shot good colour and glass, nice capture of column too ;)

Wow Allan... that's lovely... The drop is spot on, perfect timing, the glass is amazing.

I really like this, Allan. The composition, colours or the milk and glass, and the use of dead space is ace.

 You're doing a brilliant job of these water drop shots!!!

Love this.
Background sets it off perfectly, great colours and brilliantly crisp.

From a composition point of view, I'd quite like to see a bit more of the stem of the glass in the shot, but since the milk drop is the star of the show that's a very minor niggle for me.

Flippin' heck, there are always threads I'm missing... Not sure how I manage it, but hopefully to be rectified with Excel!

Anyway, generally speaking, there is certainly an unusual contrast between rally photos and water/milk drops! I wonder if there's a way you could meld the two! ;)

Some lovely close up macro shots of water drops. Especially liked the idea of recording sound with it. Quite inspired.

Great thread, and some lovely pictures.

Ian.

Great capture Allan. Vibrant colours they look like lifeguards waiting for something to happen.

I don't normally like shots of the backs of people but this is bang on theme

Really vibrant colours.

Andy

Thank you all for the generous comments, I am pleased you take the time to look and comment.
Dade, is it possible that your monitor is to bright or needs calibrating? No one else seems to have that problem! On my monitor I can see detail very well in the life jackets.

I think I understand what Dade is on about. That RH lifejacket is really really red and although the detail is there, it's not that obvious. It could be because this is a laptop screen though. I was revisiting 52s last night on a desktop and some of the shots I'd seen on my laptop that same day looked completely different.

I like this shot. That "calm before the storm" moment.

Well conveyed and an unusual take on the theme with un-seen staring going on.

Well done.

Ian.

I like it Allan, spot on theme, and full of staring comtemplation of what's to come.

It is a peaceful scene indeed. I have been back to look at it several times, I love the distant hills but can't make up my mind about the houses ..I quite like the fact that they are there but they look a bit soft on my monitor .. or it may just be my eyes !

 Really good colours in stare - what's strange (read interesting) about this one for me is that you've captured the theme (no doubt that they are staring) but you've done it through a shot of the back of their heads.
In some ways it works better than a shot from the front because you can share what they're looking at.

Peace - that's a scene that's close to my heart . . . and it definitely is NOT rubbish.
I don't do landscapes either, so I don't have very much to offer on this one.
What I like about it is the feel of open space and the soft mistiness of the mountains.
What I think it's missing (in my very humble opinion) is some foreground interest. I feel like I want to see some sort of sharp detail in the foreground to give it some more depth.

I like the detail in the sky and the light on the hills.

For me the foreground doesn't work. It seems a bit dark and brings nothing to the image.

Try a crop between the two blocks of houses. I think it would balance it up a bit more.

Andy

I don't do this landscape stuff (it's to slow) lol. Sarah, you are right about the foreground, due to using a long lens there is much compression making the scene look more compressed than it is. I was up the mountain with the dogs and camera, I turned around and this scene was before me, no time to get a better composition as the clouds were moving quite quickly and the light on Pen Y Fan was changing just as fast, plus it was getting dark.
Andy, I take on board your comment and thank you for taking the time to look. If we get another reshoot I might just go back and recompose the shot.

Allan

Stare - an interesting take on the theme that works really well. Great colours! If I were being really picky I would crop a fraction off the top to lose the (to me distracting) faint line of sea above the foam of the breaker.

Peace - the subject fits the theme pretty well but on my monitor the colours aren't convincing, and it is a bit flat and soft overall. It sounds as if conditions weren't in your favour, though.

Hi Allan. The above is the answer. I tend to agree with Sarah on this, and think a reshoot would really benefit. It's a lovely scene and I'd like to see your reshoot.

Ian.

Allan, I like it and I don't think it's rubbish. I don't really shoot this kind of stuff and my meagre attempts so far have all been rubbish.
