No - nothing bar money - I'll need two bodies. The samples from the 100-200 were extremely encouraging and the 45-100 and 20-35 would see me right.

Maybe - but with CF express slots you can achieve that.

Interestingly Fuji still use SD card slots, not the faster CF express. Not a deal for me either way but when I go to the 100mp camera writing such a large RAW file might be easier with CF express than SD.

Is it one or two CF Express slots - I didn’t see mention of a second slot (could have missed it though)

Fuji has a Compressed (lossless) RAW option - half’s amount of space required for an image

The Hasselblad will be 1x internal SSD plus 1 CF Express.

Fuji for the next camera should go full 2x CF express.
 
I’m curious how it will compare with Fuji.

Same sensor, different imaging processing engine probably quite similar. Fuji colours are quite distinctive (mostly in a good way) so the Hasselblad files might have a slightly less saturated/less contrasty look.

No sign of Pentax ushering in a 100mp 645z yet.

Thanks! I did have an old Hasselblad before changing to Fuji and I did love it. But now I love the Fuji and have a good selection of lenses so can’t imagine switching back.

It is only a matter of time I suspect before I am in the 100mp system. I bought the 645z as the price was right, and the 100mp body was £10k. Had I known the GFX100s was coming and you could get them grey for £4300, despite my apprehension of mirrorless I'd have gone straight to it as it's clear there will be no 100mp 645z now.

Hindsight eh?

Right, although "the best camera is the one that's with you" and all that.

Part of the reason that I find I get better results with GFX than with Canon is because I find using it forces me to be more thoughtful about everything - GFX for creating images, Canon for capturing moments - something like that.
 
Love the HB colours, but when I used the X1D II for street and live music the auto focus and shutter lag worked against me - so that's why I'm mostly excited for the X2D as both are vastly improved, the flip screen is also something I love to use, to get angles where I cannot put my face or see the screen otherwise.

It's just everything I wanted from the first iterations, plus i've heard talk of them adding eye/face detect - which would be the icing in the cake for me.

also youtuber says that the X1D II was good for 1600 ISO, and the X2D 6400 ISO - regardless of what he found 'good' as I would got higher - that's a nice relative improvement.

I shoot landscapes, it's all tripod mounted, gear headed type use so all careful and slow. The 100mp would be amazing for

a) the extra resolution
b) the cropability although I am not a heavy cropper.
c) the 45-100 and 100-200 zooms

That said I use the D850 more and more and find it perfectly fine. The AF is a bit snappier and it's easier to carry.

Given storage concerns it might slow me down a bit more, but I am not a spray and pray type shooter.

If you look at cameras like tools of enjoyment then coming from a Sony a7R series body or Canon 5Ds R body it is natural to transition to cameras like the GFX 100s or X2D 100C that are both 100+ megapixel 0.79 crop medium format.

As the market is going up market my hope is that the RF L lenses are secretly designed for a future medium format Canon body.

That would be cool :) are there reports of the RF image circle sizes to see if that is likely?

Given that the lens mount diameter of RF is the same as EF (54mm) and the flange distance is much shorter (RF20mm EF44mm), this is very unlikely when you see that the GFX has a longer flange mount 26mm band a much larger diameter - 65mm. Several laws of physics would have to be bent to allow an MF sensor to work effectively. the 54mm diameter is going to be the issue.

I suspect that RF lenses have though been designed for potentially high MP FF sensors, and when I say high think 150MP and above - because obviously all we really crave is more resolution and absolutely none of us are interested in lower resolutions with more dynamic range and tonality :facepalm:

The fact that some EF lenses work ok on the GFX is only by the fact that the image circle is big enough at the original 44mm flange distance., but you are outside the best optic properties of the lens at this point, and start to see more distortion and colour artefacts

I saw a GFX 50s & 100s owner adapt EF L lenses to his FujiFilm body. So I was thinking maybe Canon will go up medium format with the RF mount.

But as pointed out... image circle and flange distance wouldnt allow it.

I have adapted several EF mount lenses to my GFX, but all have issues are part of the image is outside the optimum image circle the lens was designed for, this results in distortion or vignettes

Sometimes though beyond the optical limits can be fun as the swirly bokeh of the Helios 58mm lens really gets going!!

44x33

In theory if you crop 1:1 on the 44x33 sensor using the lens designed for 36 long side image circle you should be ok as you'll be 33x33....

I am a resolution fan, the main thing I want is more MP's - so long as the dynamic range/colour depth isn't any worse than what I have. However -with all systems/sensor sizes you enter the ugly world of diffraction limiting.

The 645z you can stop right down, you just don't see visible softening, even at F18.

The D850 isn't far off the 645z with the same number of pixels on the long side of the sensor - however - it is smaller. Visible softening happens at F13 on that camera. I wouldn't go past F11 unless emergency use.

Now - our friend the GFX100s has an even smaller pixel density than the D850 (same actually as an A7Riv), so diffraction limiting will happen on that just at the point you need the F stop to achieve a typical front to back sharpness for a landscape without very close foreground.

You aren't making this easy for me.

I will have to see what I can get for all my gear and take it from there. The tilt shifts would be nice to have - but I see the trinity of zooms I actually need to make this viable and 20-35 is a very useful range for my work, and the 45-100/100-200 will see me fine

Let us credit Pentax for lowering price points of digital medium format to under $6k & Fuji to under $3.5k.

Latest released Pentax medium format lens was the 2015 HD Pentax-D FA645 35mm F3.5 AL [IF].

On bhphotovideo

- Pentax has 15 medium format lenses on offer to support 1 body.

- Fuji has 24 1st party medium format lenses + 6 3rd party lenses to support 3 bodies

My guess is Pentax is having R&D funding problems as to why they've not updated the 2014 Pentax 645Z.

May also be the reason why Pentax says the future is still dSLR.

They appear to be catering to current Pentax owners with little prospects of new users unless they inherit or buy used Pentax gear.

Talking of Lenses

I recently bought a GF63 f2.8 on ebay
It was boxed and beautiful. But sold as faulty.
The lens wasn’t communicating with the body. I took a punt and paid £725 for it.
Booked in with Fuji for a fixed price repair. £140
Just got it back. New focus motor and lens mount.

NO charge. Nice one Fuji.
 
Playing with the 50R on holiday. I wasn't able to communicate with this chap to keep his head still so his face is blurry, but I like the image overall.

Nice, looking foward to seeing wide open bike shots :) I had a mainboard and sensor replaced in an X-T2 free of charge by Fuji even after I told them that it had impact damage (my fault)!!
