weekly Delta Skies 2012 52 Week Challenge - Week 52 "Busy" added

Hi Peter

Duo - bang on theme. Good to have such a prop to hand.

Like the angle and the handling of the light, colours and the textures.

But something about it bugs me - not sure whether it is the crop or the missing Robin head or the odd middle right background. So in the end a little underwhelmed.

Hi Peter

original take on the DUo theme but works welll.....showing it's age but it works for the shot , like the angle , not being able to see Robin doesn't bother me.....where one went the other followed so it's a dead cert he's there

1st comment I read was Superpippos.....scrolled up to see the shot fully expecting to see a Robin...of the feathered variety

ps...have you seen...

Hi Peter, certainly looks like a well loved toy, great item for the theme and I like the picture too.

Thanks for your comments Michael, Alan and Lynne

The detail in the water is superb. I'd like to see it even more minimal without the grass....not much you could do about that, I suspect.

Cheers.

the water is excellent have to agree I like the bg think it needs something but I also see where Andy is coming from too

Ohhh very nice !!!!!

Not crit, but I wonder how it would look flowing left to right... you have kept the background nice and sharp, it looks like quite a long exposure so guess not hand held, looks super large and on black

Thanks for the feedback guys.

It's funny I could have taken a shot of one of the other steps (not sure if that's the right name) which didn't have grass but went with this one for extra interest.

Exposure wise it was 1.6 seconds so yes definitely used a tripod. I did try a few shorter and longer exposures but felt this one had just the right amount of blur for what I was trying to achieve.

love it, especially the way the bank flows with the water

As said by superpippo, you really get the feel of movement, so spot on for the theme!!

Thought I had commented on flow? Must have forgotten to press submit! I really like this one, great movement in the water and I like th grasses on the stones too.
Thanks for the comments Bob & Michael

Peter, that is a cracker. Really, looking this one. Great colours, textures and sharp, and cracking catchlights.

Lovely detail in the fur.

Must get my laptop calibrated....just Archie's tongue looks a tadhot

Cheer and

I know how hard it is to get good detail in fur and thats excellent, and a really good portrait of them too.

Lovely picture indeed Peter. Lovely colours and I like the highlights too. It does seem a little bright all over, but that may well be this laptop screen, If I tilt it a bit it looks better.

Hi Peter -

Friendship - spot on for theme. Like the focus, the clarity of hair and colour, catchlight in the eyes. They look so alive. Excellent crop too
Thanks for the kind words Andy, Michael, Allan and Alan.

They say never work with children or animals and I have to add that this photo would have been impossible without the kind help of Sarah (big thank you ) to keep the two dogs at bay with lots of treats. You have to realise that both these are spaniels and never like sitting still so we didn't have an easy job. Also given they are spaniels, this is a rare picture of them not soaking wet or covered in mud

Cheers Dean. We've enjoyed the lighting challenges that TP52 has brought us. It's just a shame we haven't enough room for a permanent studio setup. It can be a pain getting it all out and putting it all away again.

You need to clear the garage and then we won't be fighting for space or time!!:lol:

A great shot Peter of two manic dogs who do not like to sit still! Archie enjoyed stealing all the cheese treats though and I'm not sure how the background coped with Lela's drool!!:lol:

Your next mission is to get a shot of Archie and Willow (pet hedgehog) together!!

I bet it is... have you not got a nice shed that can be converted ??
Unfortunately our shed is 6 feet long by 3 feet wide

Thanks Sarah especially for your help during the shoot although I'll pass on combining dog and hedgehog.

Friendship - great shot, love the detail, can't believe you managed to get them to pose so well, treats or no treats
Thanks for the comments Mike

Hi Peter, I'm a little behind (again) with your thread!

Duo, shame about Robins head but it fits the theme for me!

Flow, this definitely says flow, I like the composition with the sharp background, the water taking up most of the shot and the little dip splitting the shot nicely. The crop works well too.

Friendship, superb, love it :clap::clap::clap:

a that is such a lovely picture - image looks great, and those happy faces. It's hard enough to get one dog to sit still and smile let alone two! well done

Thanks for the comments Lynne. "oof?" - I'm just surprised any part of them is in focus. They don't usually keep still long enough

What a very good and original take on the theme.
Not keen on the shadows and the colours look a bit washed out to me - sort of an overall feeling of greyness - but viewing on a small netbook so that may contribute.

An interesting take on the theme. Colours and shadows look alright here. I like the odd angle that you have taken it at too.
Thanks for the feedback Alan and Michael. When I turned up to take the picture last night the guy got excited as he thought he has a new bell ringing recruit. I felt a bit sorry for him as it must be hard to keep groups going.

I really shouldn't comment when I'm tired and, as a consequence, struggling with the connection.....edit....Goggled, The Bells of Change?

Liking the angle and colours (almost match my old regimental colours :D) Shadows, I suspect were unavoidable.

I like how the left rope is perpendicular to the LH border.

Cheers.
