weekly Delta Skies 2012 52 Week Challenge - Week 52 "Busy" added

Hmmmm, think I'd like a more minimal approach by removing the egg timer, integral though it may be.

Cheers.

What the hell was I talking about...remove the egg timer :bonk: Must be a bit frazzled after a 1,000 mile car trip

Thanks Andy. As said above I did make a snoot out of a piece of rolled up paper.

D'ohh, I tend not to read what people put so I don't get any ideas regarding processing/thought process.

Hi Peter

always like shots of these model toys , well lit & lovely black BG...a little too much empty space for me thoug , other than that it's a  from me

Time....oh yes , perfectly boiled egg with soldiers , well laid out , great focus & spot on with the colors....top shot mister :clap:

Hi

Why not take part in our annual TP Day coming up soon 9th September,as part of your 52, Where you take a photo on that day and post it on the forum, then all the Photos are made into a slideshow, Click the logo for more details, it's lots of fun to be a part of it:thumbs:

Sorry it's brief - I'm lagging behind again! :(

Mineral - Wonderful shot, really nicely framed, good clarity, colour and light... can't fault it!
Dark - Definitely that! I'd have considered removing the base between his legs though, and I do like Iain's suggestion of a spotlight.
Time - I like the "breakfast" part of the shot, but feel that the egg timer is a bit out of place, something about it just doesn't gel for me. Not denying its thematic need to be there, just visually, it feels off.

Back from holiday so a quick thank you to everyone for still commenting

oooo so many different ideas, I think I like this week  lovely photo too :)

Time - nice idea and really well executed

Dark - Good shot and like the amount of dead space which makes it work
Time - Again, a shot that works. Like the composition.

Hi Peter, how did I get so far behind again?

Mineral, I love it, the detail is superb. Is this the same agate that Sarah used?

Edit= Dam send button on my iPhone, sent too soon!!
No this is a different one. I seem to remember they were on offer if you bought 3 of them so there's still one left unphotographed.

Dark, I think most comments have been made. For me the face seems a little bright:thinking: I like the empty space though and fits the theme well:thumbs:

Time, I looked at this before reading it I was thinking time as in a three minute egg or along those lines, but breakfast time works for me too and I like the composition.
Thanks Summer, John, Mike and Marsha

Time, runny egg and soldiers...

Well exposed, nice and sharp with good colours. Well composed. I wasn't sure about the part hidden spoon but unsure if another placement would improve

My idea started with an egg timer but couldn't find one nice enough to be on its own so I left it in the shot although I took ones without.

Thanks for the comments Andy, Lynne and Vicky

Tasty! Good idea and any excuse for a nice breakfast right?

You got me thinking for mine so thank you! Thats what a walk in the woods with the dogs will do for you.
Cheers Alex. I have to admit that this breakfast was photographed after lunch although it didn't stop me tucking in when I finished the shoot.

Got back from a week away on Wednesday with no real Body opportunities so we set off for the Yorkshire Sculpture Park yesterday to find some suitable subjects. This was virtually my last frame of the day. It's Henry Moore's "Draped Seated Woman".

Not been to the Sculpture Park although have seen Henry Moore's work and love his quirky artwork. Good composition and colour and on theme. Is this a large statue? There is no way to reference the size.

I like that Peter, the composition is great and some nice colour in there. Will have to pay the sculpture park a visit one day

Thanks for the comments John and Michael.

Size wise it's 6ft tall.

Overall I was a bit disappointed with the sculptures. I was expecting more (or should that be Moore ) and maybe I'm not cultured enough to appreciate some of them. The gardens however are really nice. There's no entrance fee  but parking is £7.50 for over 2 hours . But I suppose it's good value when you consider two of us were there for about four hours.

Time is a well lit and well composed shot. I like it.

Body is a great idea, again well composed

Body as others say is a great composition I like that you have taken the back view so that we can see what she is seeing very clever

Hi Peter, now that's one large body! Nice composition and a good idea to shoot the behind, sorry from behind:)
Thanks Allan and Marsha. Shooting up the hill would have meant capturing the sky which would have been ideal if the sky had been blue with nice fluffy clouds. Alas it was typical British weather.

Body - like it - good spot and very much like the composition
Cheers Mike

Hi Peter

Neat idea for the theme mister , liking the angle & that the statue seems to be gazing off in to woods below

Must confess....another here not cultured enough to understand how anyone could get paid to create this type if thing....confused to say the least:lol:

very nice, love sculptures anyway and this is a great shot

I too like your take on the weeks theme Peter. Lovely colour tones in the statue and the background.
Clever composition too, gives the viewer a sense of what the staue is "looking" at. Your photograph has good depth to it too. Good work

Excellent composition on your soft re-shoot Peter. Focus and dof is excellent also.
Thanks Michael. I thought I better get the reshoot out of the way quickly :)

Body - I love the crop, it suits perfectly. I quite like that I don't know how large it is; I'm looking at the grass in the foreground and thinking it's about life sized, then looking into the distance and thinking it's much larger. Colours are good and the detail in the trees in the background is intact.

Soft - Gorgeous. The kiwi is beautifully sharp, the colours are perfect, the composition is just right. The only teeny tiny little thing wrong (and I had to look VERY hard for this!) is that I think there's a hair on the kiwi - very small, bottom left of the frame, just on the "centre" of the kiwi. But I'm sure that can be easily removed :)

Thanks for the comments Vicky. Well Spotted. I'd already cloned one small hair from the kiwi. I can't believe I missed that one.

Hi, Peter, I've always had a love/hate relationship with Henry Moore's work. For your Body, it's well composed and I did think a shallow DOF would work better...then rethought and as it is there's a real sense of thoughtfulness, so DOF if good for me. The detail in the drape is great. Any B&W version?

Soft, great detail in the kiwi fruit, especially in the hairs.

Cheers.

Thanks for the feedback Andy. Bidy was actually shot on f5.6 so nothing too excessive in either direction. I did also pop the image quickly into Silver Efex Pro but didn't find anything I liked for this one so I kept the colour.

Soft lovely detail in there and the strawberry add a nice bit of bg colour

Hi Peter

Sorry for falling behind

Dark - good comp and balance of space. God spot of yellow to highlight and lovely background.

Time- Like the angles and the colours. Two elements for time  Food is just the right colour.

Body - really like this. Good composition with the diagonals on the ground converging on the gate and the figure gazing in the same direction. Like the colours.

Soft - godd colour saturation and shapes. Good focus. and good spot by Vicky on the hair !!

After searching the house I couldn't find the prop I wanted for Liquid so ended up with my second choice shot. This is another one not to ask me to reshoot. Ice cubes melt too quickly, especially under the studio lights ( it took me three sets of cubes), and they slip around on the glass surface if the table isn't exactly level :bonk:

I know ice cubes are really water in solid form but they were melting into liquid form :D

Great liquid shot. I really like that.

Your soft picture's a cracker too. Rally like the detail.

Well done Peter on both of this weeks shots I know how difficult they were for you to set up and how testing they were!

Soft - it was a good idea to put the kiwi in to add the extra colour and the detail on it is superb!

Liquid - I bet you never want to see another ice cube again after today - but it was funny watching them glide all over the table:lol::lol: I like the position of the cubes and the reflection of them as well.

Now where's some ice for my drink!!:exit::lol:

I Peter some nice creative and lateral thinking for liquid
A simple but effective image, I particularly like the pale blue colour tone, it's quite a calming and serene (if that's the correct word) photograph. Good work, your patience paid off. Iain

Whoops. Commented on everybody's tonight and forgot to say thanks......

Great liquid shot. I really like that.

I agree! Good idea and pleasing image. I like the way the ice cubes are reflected.

Liking the liquid shot Peter, nice reflections and I like the minimal colour too.

Thanks for the comments Robert, Bob, Sarah, Michael and Iain. I'm not sure about my patience though. Some of these 52's are testing it :gag:

I love your soft reshoot, didn't see a hair but I don't tend to pixel-peep (as they say) so it looks just fine to me :)

the ice cubes are a lovely shot but the water looks artificial - I'm not saying it is - just how it looks. Love the blues though, simple and minimal

Hi Peter

Liquid - Super shot.
Pros: the graduation in colour top to bottom, the dark outline around the water, the position of the cubes and their graduated reflections, composition.
Cons- none

Also it immediately brought to mind a kind of board game where an outlined country is invested with money, minerals, army, whatever.
