weekly Delta Skies 2012 52 Week Challenge - Week 52 "Busy" added

I love your soft reshoot, didn't see a hair but I don't tend to pixel-peep (as they say) so it looks just fine to me :)

the ice cubes are a lovely shot but the water looks artificial - I'm not saying it is - just how it looks. Love the blues though, simple and minimal
Thanks Summer. I know what you mean about the water. There were a lot of problems with the water and also the reflections/shadows of the ice cubes. Not least with the water was me adding just enough water to get the image to work while all the time it was increasing from the ice melting :bang:

Hi Peter

Liquid - Super shot.
Pros: the graduation in colour top to bottom, the dark outline around the water, the position of the cubes and their graduated reflections, composition.
Cons- none

Also it immediately brought to mind a kind of board game where an outlined country is invested with money, minerals, army, whatever.
Cheers Alan. Are you meaning Risk?

We bought risk about five years ago for one of the boys but we've never played it. I feel it's probably one of those games that helps to have someone who knows what they are doing to play it.

really nice shot for liquid hard to do I'm sure with all those reflective surfaces

Hi Peter,

Soft reshoot, the kiwi is lovely and sharp, love the detail in the little hairs. Although I hadn't spotted the teeny tiny hair bottom left!!! Nice composition with the strawberry behind.

Liquid, I have an image of you quietly trying not to lose your temper and Sarah giggling away watching! Nice shot though, the blue is lovely:thumbs:

Thanks for the comments Marsha. LOL - I'm sure there would be enough material for a sitcom

Now talking of sitcoms, this is my story for Up.

I wanted a shot of a red balloon floating up against a blue sky. So here's the scene. Sarah and I drive into a car park in the centre of Leeds. Sarah then blows up a balloon and we attach it to some string. Sarah then proceeds to play with a red balloon in the middle of the car park while I take the photos. Funny enough until you realise people were walking past wondering what this crazy woman was doing with a red balloon. Of course they couldn't see me because I was flat on my back on the floor

Anyway here's the result which amazingly came out just how I was imagining.

Gorgeous shot! Really lovely composition, especially considering how tricky it must've been :) My first thoughts were similar (balloons + dolls house - like the movie) but this is perfectly on theme. Bravo!

All I can say is that your assistant did a great job blowing up the balloon to just the right size and launching it perfectly (shame the photographer didn't get it right the first time!!). I will never go back to that car park again!!

It's a great pic Peter, the colours stand out and the balloon is lovely and sharp, well done!!:) (and almost worth all the embarrassment!)

The things we do to get a picture well worth it on this occasion can't fault it the contrast with the red and blue brilliant and the piece of string makes it

 you two make me chuckle! But the effort was worth it, this looks like a helium balloon escaping, queue Nena and a 80's flash back!
I like the composition and the red stands out really well against the blue sky:thumbs:

Now is Sarah off chasing kites?
Cheers Marsha. That song always reminds me of a drunken night in Bury. Or should I say trying to hitch a lift back home the following morning after spending all my money on a drunken night in Bury :nono:

:lol::D I can just imagine it! Great shot Peter, nice sky sets the balloon of nicely.
Cheers Michael

Hi Peter

Up - just perfect. :clap::clap:

But why go to a car park in the CENTRE of Leeds?
Thanks Alan.

We'd been out in the car and came back into Leeds to pick our son up from work. At least it wasn't the car park outside his work as he'd have been an embarrassed as Sarah was. You know what these teenagers are like :shake:

I'm far too busy having fun to be worried about embarrassing myself (nose grows longer...)

very nice shot, good take on the theme too, altho I'm loving the tall building shots

can't think of anyway to improve that shot so I think you deserve a

Hi Peter

Body - Liking the subject and the composition as it looks as though she is leaning and looking into the frame

Re-shoot 2 - Soft - Love it, excellent composition, the 1/4 in square frame is perfect - shame no EXIF available as I like to have a nosey.. what Lens & lighting did you use ??

Liquid - Nice touch with just the blue in the shot, not sure on the dof or whether it's my eyes, but the reflections are great too

Up - Clever so and so... That is a real nice shot

Up - nice one - I'm a great fan of primary colours - love the explanation of how it was done.
Thanks Mike

Thanks for all the comments Dean. The soft reshoot was taken using a Bowens flash head through a softbox plus a reflector to bounce some of the light back in. The lens was 60mm at f18 (I usually don't go this high other than for macro or close up shots like these), 1/125 @ ISO200.

Cheers Peter... I really must invest in some sort of lighting/softbox as very impressed with what you achieve... maybe Santa will get a request :)

Hi Peter

Soft Reshoot.....love it , great focus, lovely colors , good to get the strawb in there as creates a fab BG color , wonderful shot

UP....no crit here ( except that you got me singing that song now :bang: ) , fab contrast between the sky & ballon color & pin sharp...top shot mister :clap:.....oh , just noticed a very small small crit & one that I struggle with...can just see some cloning(?) marks at the base of the string....some people are soooo picky :bonk:

If you can delay Santa arriving until the Focus show at the NEC you can pick up some good deals. We did but that's another story.

nice, simple and effective shot, spot on for theme, and love the methodology explanantion
Thanks Bob

Thanks for the comments Lynne. Just a quick bit of tidying up to do then.

My first reaction to this week's theme was the Dynamic Duo. I know I took a shot a few weeks ago of the Dark Knight (no not you Dean ) so I needed another tack. So out came my Batman car which must be at least 40 years old and as you can see isn't in A1 condition. In fact the angle I wanted to take this at wasn't possible as Robin lost his head years ago.

Was going to say you cant see robin until I read the explanation I used to have one of them batmobiles well done for keeping it this long.

I do feel you need to see both though so not really sure it works

Oooooo that's a point... what exhibition did you go to ??

What... i'm not dynamic

Great toy Peter and a good duo for the theme... well maybe a head short of a duo in this case :D

Like the angel as if they are going up, batman's face goes with that too

Cheers Allan. Although not as obvious as I thought Robin is actually sat in the passenger seat.

Thanks Dean. We got ours direct from the Bowens stand at Focus

No problem Dean. We're planning to go back again next year but this time without the credit card. If you are going on the same day we could always organise to meet up.

Sounds like a good plan to me.. will be just me and my Son, I doubt the girls will want to come from my home

I was going to say another angle would be better, but I can see why you chose to hide Robin  - so in the circumstances you can have a  :)

Good take on Duo. I like the close composition and the 'well used' look. White balance looks very good.

I think I'd actually like to see Robin in the frame, even though he is damaged.

I wasn't sure about the Dutch tilt, but it does add a dynamism. Also, and very weird this is, I typed dutch tilt into Google images and you'll never guess what the first image was

Cheers.

Thanks for the comments Summer and Andy - I'll believe you regarding the tilt
