weekly Delta Skies 2012 52 Week Challenge - Week 52 "Busy" added

#2 for me, very interesting and looks amazing. I would like to have a go but wouldnt even know where to start!

#1 would have been great too, if you had not posted #2 :D
Thanks Alex. Check this out for details. Give it a go - you'll enjoy it.

Good work Peter, I find these smoke pictures very interesting, they have an organic feel about them. That not knowing what you are going to get is very appealing. Your pp has worked well, I like the inversion and colour input, it makes for a vibrant photograph.
#1 I like too but as others have said, when posted compared against #2 it can't compete IMHO. That said, I do like #1, the letterbox crop suits the subject and it doesn't look too clinical, it has that used and well played look about the keys. This would certainly work better on its own. Iain
Thanks for the feedback Iain.

Peter, a couple of really good images that fit the theme perfectly... I really like the piano keys, but having spent some time looking, that smoke art is definitely growing on me, and I think I prefer it.

Hi Peter

wow....am seriously green eyed over your Smoke symmetry image...lovely lovely...I tried smoke shots once & failed miserably so to even contemplate crit'ing your shot would be way wrong....I love it :clap:

The piano shot is also on theme just not quite as exciting as the smoke art :)

Thanks Lynne.

I looks like a decisive vote from everyone that the smoke shot is the one to go for.

I'm now convinced that the weekly theme is connected to the weather. Just as we get something that would match the skies we've had recently then the Sun comes out. I wonder whether a theme of rain could be organised for my summer holiday.

Anyway my entry this week is a Moody Cow. No reference to Sarah :nono: but of a rather inquisitive bovine (all the others were scared off as I approached).

lol when I saw that image Peter- maybe not the reaction you were hoping for , but an unexpected image that just hits the spot .... Cracking sharp focus , good DOF , natural colors & lovely sky.....love it

ps...I think you're on to something with these themes........

Thanks for the kind words Lynne. No problem about the reaction. Not everything has to be totally serious especially this one. ;)

Very fitting for the theme Peter, very nice composition and the sky is very moody too. Like it.
Cheers Michael

Moody - great capture - I love it
Thanks Mike

Hi Peter

Moody Cow - Superb

She really stands out nicely against that grey sky, real nice detail, Great Shot
Thanks Dean

really nice picture and excellent proceassing
Cheers Allan

Moody cow; brilliant!

Such a simple shot, but perfectly composed and exposed, with a great DoF. I love it!

Nice looking cow! The sky is very dramatic, if we drew horns on the cow then it would be the perfect back drop

Good idea, nice to bring something a little different to themes. Good picture and I think it works well.

Thanks Alex. There was one with horns but he was "bothering" the females more than I was with my camera. :naughty:

great shot but doesn't say moody to me I'm afraid, more curious, but you said that yourself lol

this would make a brilliant stock image, for milk/butter etc

Hi Peter

Moody - for me not quite getting the moody bit but what a good shot. excellent focussing, just great how the cow jumps (metaphorically) out of the background. Composition, colour, crop all of a high standard.
Thanks for the kind words Alan

Ooo er. Best left alone probably.
I'm not going to argue

Absolutely stunning! A wonderfully whimsical take on the theme and a perfectly executed moody cow. Bravo!
Thanks Vicky

Hi Peter, thought I'd better reply to you even if you did ask me to be a "moody cow!" you got a far better model there!:)

Composition is bang on as is the focus, exposure etc, the moody sky just finishes it of!! I must say it was quite interesting watching the bulls antics while you were taking the cow shots!!

Here's this week's entry for Joy. I wanted to make this as natural as possible and other than the obvious O it's amazing how difficult it is to find the letters. Thanks to Sarah for spotting the J

Hi Peter :) I love the idea, very joyful! I love the choice of subject matter too, really suits the theme. I'd have perhaps gone for a looser crop on the Y?
Thanks for the feedback Vicky

Good thinking, I like it. Nice clear images and good colour and texture variety.
Thanks Alex

good idea, I was thinking of something along those lines myself
Cheers Bob

Hi Peter

Good idea, well executed. I like the variation in colour, texture and scale of the different elements.

Fast off the mark too.
Thanks for the comments Alan

Great idea that Peter, works very well. I wonder if a thin black border on the inner pictures would work? I like the triptych style too.
Cheers Michael. I played around with a couple of borders so I know what you mean.

Hi Peter

Liking the colours very much, all nice and sharp nature shots that go very well together
Thanks Dean.

Moody cow...nice. Really stands out from the BG. Great eye contact and vibrancy. Did you do any processing on the BG?

Joy, :D one of the pubs (cough) we went in on the TP meet was called the Jolly Roger and they had a panel of photographs using the same effect. In order of my preference it's Y, J the O. Being really picky and because I have to fond something for you to improve....I'd like to see the Y rotated to the right slightly.

Good show.

Cheers.

JOY - very clever idea, love the image choices too  one tiny niggle tho is that the Y seems a bit wonky. Really love the idea tho

Both commenting on the Y and can see what you mean. I had already rotated it but resisted making it look too unnatural with a totally straightened version though.

excellent you must have looked for ages for the right pics. I dont agree with the rotation of the Y its an organic thing and doesn't have to be perfect

Thanks for the feedback Allan.

It was the O that started the thinking off so that was quick to find. I did get in trouble for pick a suitable flower from the garden and then using a flower already inside a pot.:nono:
The J was harder to find and the credit goes to Sarah for spotting it. I had three attempts at Y. I lost my first choice on the way back from taking the dogs a walk :bang:. The second choice really didn't work as a Y but so quickly moved on to the one you see.

Well done Peter on a great tryptich. I know how difficult it was to find natural subjects that were formed like the letters you needed. Exposure and focus is spot on and I also don't think the y needs rotating and it was well spotted and better than the other "y's" that you found.

I've forgiven you as well for picking the "o" from the garden and then not using it!! (just!!):lol:
