weekly Delta Skies 2012 52 Week Challenge - Week 52 "Busy" added

Soft, that's certainly soft, and yummy too, I have to agree about the fingerprints, but I'm not sure how else you could have done it

Pride works great, and fits the theme well.

Lovely shot for pride. I'd have liked to see a tiny bit more DoF so the whole inscription was in focus, and I'm not too keen on the background; is it a pattern for a Union Flag? I find the stitching and unconventional colours a bit out of kilter with the medal, and think it would have looked fantastic on a silky flag, perhaps with slight folds or waves in it?

But, that's just taste, and it's a cracking shot despite my ramblings!

Soft - sweetly sick yuk but back on theme. good lighting and shows textures well.

Pride - nicely captured and a great family memento, again nice lighting and focus with selective depth of field. Union flag makes a fitting background.

Hi Peter, great subject for the pride theme. Very nicely composed, perhaps a bit more dof needed on the medal, but otherwise a very good picture.
Thanks for the feedback Michael

Time to catch up

Soft a good pic I like that you can see the pour marks on the side of the chocolate my only Crit is the fingerprints where you have broken the bar up

Pride I think I would be proud also great DoF and some good pp a top shot
Cheers Chris. I agree about the fingerprints but I did enjoy licking them afterwards

Thanks John. I tried using a knife but found breaking the square of chocolate with my hands seemed to give a better effect. Maybe I should have used gloves or something similar.

Hi Peter, nothing more to be proud of than that:thumbs: I agree that a little more detail on the medal would have been good. I like the union jack background too.
Thanks for the feedback Marsha

Thanks for the comments Mark. The DoF is definitely a theme here. The Union Flag was actually printed bunting but was the muted colours I was after. I couldn't quickly find my Union Flag which probably dates back to WWI which would have been perfect.

Hi Peter

Quick work . The original milk bottle glasses?

Nice and sharp on the specs - even read where they were made. Good background . Would have liked to have seen all of the specs but presumably you were holding the other arm. Also right arm just bisects the diagonal of the canopy. Good connection to the theme.

lol nice original subject - I like the reflections in the lenses, altho I might have gone for more of an angled shot but then you'd lose the 'jam-jar' effect

A great fun image Peter, original and creative

A few minor niggles as mentioned above but doesn't take anything away from the image, I like it, it made me smile :D

The oof specsavers in the background really adds to the image and the short sighted reference. Good work. Iain

Pride...like it. My first thought was that it needs more colour/brightness so I did a quick edit....but given the subject matter I like the desaturate feel to it. I'd like to see the text a tad lighter...but doesn't really take anything away.

Short... there's a few quirky submissions so far. Might post mine

Great glasses and nice sense of humour. Minor points but I'm not keen on the RH arm of the glasses floating but I guess your other hand was on the camera.

Good show...

Thanks for the feedback Alan. Yes I was holding on to the left hand arm.

Thanks for the comments Summer. I came away with quite a few different shots including at angles but felt this worked better for the theme.

Thanks for the feedback Andy.

How about this edit removing the arms completely.

2nd image better, on theme and and having the blurred BG makes me feel like as soon as I put the glasses on i would see the sign

Very nice interpretation of this weeks theme Peter, I was really struggling to think outside the box this week. Nice focus and depth of field - Nick

Great image for the theme Peter ....like your thinking & the humour in the shot . Think the crop works better.....great focus & DOF....great work mister

Thanks Allan. I think this was one of those cases of sleeping on the final image rather than posting it in haste. I definitely feel the edited version has turned out better.

So this is what you get up to when I'm in bed ill!!:lol:

Great pics Peter, I prefer the 2 one as well. A good idea and well taken!:)
It was either that or cut the grass :nono:

Hi Peter,

Good shot for pride; colour composition background all very good.
Loving your take on short...very creative...the second edit is spot on.

Carol

Hi Peter....

Made me laugh, my uncle(when he was drunk), would put on them glasses and play his banjo!!!!

as for the photos, #2 is better, the crop is perfect...good idea:)

Works for me :)
Cheers Gramps

 Peter, that's a very clever take on the theme and very well shot:thumbs:

Definitely the cropped shot for me, they feel more like they're being worn than floating!
Thanks Marsha. That's the effect I was after and I just felt #1 wasn't quite working.

Much better....there have been a few funny ones for this theme.

Cheers.
Thanks Andy. I wonder if it's the sheer joy of getting to week 17

very good shot Peter, excellent take on the theme, I prefer the 2nd version.
Cheers Michael

Having spent 12 years working for British Aerospace my immediate reaction on this theme was taking aeroplanes but the proper ones (i.e. military jets not Cessnas or British Airways) usually aren't flying around on a weekend :(

My next thought was birds but getting one to fly by isn't an easy ask so I decided to head to our nearest RSPB reserve to find some feathers.

I've not done a lot to this one. Some slight sharpening, a hint of colour and that was all.

Cracking shot Peter, theres not anything to crit on this its spot on

Short was funny, glasses look straight off the head of Arthur Askey :D
Loving the feather macro too. ;)

Cracking shot Peter, it's pin sharp throughout. The droplets of water really add interest:clap:

A nice take on the theme:thumbs:
Thanks Marsha

that's a great shot, I love the added magnification from the drops too

Hi Peter

this was the other thought I had , got some feathers from some parrots whilst at Hammerton Zoo....having seen your shot I ain't gonna bother :'(

Great detail in the droplets & love the hint of color

ps...are they water droplets or glycerin ?

Thanks Lynne. Just because I've done a feather shot shouldn't stop you doing so especially with the bright parrot feathers. It would be nice to see other people's interpretations which is what the 52 is about.

I used glycerine. I would imagine unless there's enough oil still on the feathers that water just wouldn't hold the shape.

Nice detail... and well balanced number of drops.

F22...@ any reason apart from DOF? Would be a good candidate for F5.6 and stacking??

Can't make my mind up about the crop  there's quite a lot of empty space upper left.

Cheers.

Thanks for the feedback Andy. DoF that close was definitely needed. I tried a few different crops but I didn't feel the balance wasn't there and they cut off the feathery bits of the feathers which I liked.

'Flight' - Superb Peter, I like this very much and the tones are very nice. I like how the water droplets have magnified the barbs. Nice work I can't offer any crit at all because I don't think it can be improved. lovely PP too.
