he should have apologised for making such an old joke!
Jason was forced to apologise to "Absolute Radio" listeners after cracking an old and admittedly not very funny joke---What do you call a Pakistani cloakroom attendant ?-------"Mahatma coat"---boom boom.
oops, i'd set your posts to 'ignore'
(not really)
the country has gone politically correct mad over the years, and i can't see it getting any better, should David Jason have apologised of course not, only for the fact the joke was donkeys years old (is that disrespectful to donkeys
)I do think things have gone a bit too far now in the UK...people are getting too afraid to say that others aren't performing in the workplace in case thay are accused of being '-ist in some way.
Also, is it acceptable to view Muslims as a potential threat when the single greatest threat to Western Democracy at the moment is Muslim Fundamentalism?
I used to keep a weather eye on anyone with a Northern Irish accent, as in days gone by, it was Republican Irishmen trying to blow us up...now it's Radical Muslims, so obviously I no longer look at white Northern-Europeans as as being as great a threat to me...
When I see a Norwegian backpacker on the tube I barely bat an eye other than to wish he/she would have chosen a more appropriate form of luggage...but if I see someone of middle-eastern or Indian-Asian extraction with a similar back-pack, I will look harder at him...likewise women in burkhas who look unfeasably 'lumpy' - best way to hide a semtex waistcoat? Under a burkha - most suicide bombers overseas are now female as it's still considered rude to subject women to the same search procedures as men, even by women officers, of whom there aren't enough to provide proper cover...
Great post<snip> Words do have the power to hurt and maim, but also language changes...look at the word 'Gay' - before the war it meant having a jolly and carefree time...try using it now in that context...
What was harmless before is considered offensive now and vice-versa...it's up to the individual's interpretation... I always felt that I could not be held responsible for other people's mis-interpretation of my words, but that is exactly what current legislation suggests...</snip>
...
You cant 'enforce' people to think a certain way, you can only muzzle what they say.
The Race Relations Act seems only to raise it's head when colour is involved.
And anyone who has ever listened to someone from say India, speaking about
someone from Pakistan, its a lot worse than most things i could think of.
Everytime the Racist card is played over something so petty, it just serves
to push people in the opposite direction
Brummies call me a “YAM YAM” can I sue?

political correctness is overated, he made a joke, its pritty funny and im pritty sure a pakistani would find it fairly amusing also....
The racist card is played far, far, far too much in this country...
When its the other way round not a peep is said...
I have to admit on more than one occasion when they are featured in the paper commenting to my wife about exactly that.
I wonder what would happen if someone set up a white police officers association![]()
I am unable to experience prejudice as I am a white, middle-class hetrosexual Anglo-Saxon man in his early 30s.
Therefore I don't know what it's like.
Ahem.

Calling someone with ginger hair a ginger nut is racist also.
well in parts of scotland it is lol
I am not offended if someone calls me Jock. Or Haggis muncher. Mmmmmm haggis![]()
I ate a whole haggis, pretty much. 450g. Delicious, although it almost killed me.

You have to catch them by the neck just behind the head, otherwise they will savage you quite badly. Unfortunately they have to be killed by exsanguination which is a bit cruel, but if you kill them any other way it taints the meat.I ate a whole haggis, pretty much. 450g. My worst fears have come true-----The post has been hi-jacked by "The Scottish Fundamentalist Movement." Thats it------We are all doomed.![]()

Yeah... I'd heard that.
Do you still use Tartan sheep to find them? or are there more high-tech methods now?
