What you saying sick head drivers have rights too. Wow your such a tool.Unbelievable. Well done North Yorkshire Police. Smart thinking to use such a blatant case to set a precedent on the use of dashcams.

Paul, I suspect you've misread.
I don't know if I did I think Stewart was bying cynical in his quote.
accusing north yorks police of exploited the footage for there gain.
Yeah that was extreme however I would like it to be OK to submit footage to police for consideration
No I wasn't. I meant it exactly as I wrote it.I don't know if I did I think Stewart was bying cynical in his quote.

That's exactly what I said, only you phrased it better. It seems to me that they used such a strong case as the test bench. The quality, severity of the offence, and visual impact would make it virtually impossible for the defence to mitigate it. Now it's been successful, other less strong cases can be convicted as a result.
I say well played NYP![]()
Yes you did and I believe my description was accurate you seem to generally follow a set rule of saying what you feel. Oh well.No I wasn't. I meant it exactly as I wrote it.

Anyone else see the irony?![]()
Sorry for any confusion. I'll try to be more cryptic next time if you think that will help.Yes you did and I believe my description was accurate you seem to generally follow a set rule of saying what you feel. Oh well.
I think it would be worth trying. The people who make "You've Been Framed" manage to cope with being sent tons of videos that someone somewhere thinks are funny, and it's the same principle. It wouldn't be too hard to set up a website allowing people to upload videos, and one person could review an awful lot of video quite quickly to see whether it's sufficiently "interesting".I think the police would become overwhelmed if all the "you tube brigade" who post on how bad other drivers are. showing somebody who has done something marginally wrong, but they can't see how bad they have actually been.

One person? Really, that's like saying one bloke can answer the phones for the whole force
Its just not one bloke to see if its interesting, I would be a huge strain on resources, as the stupid b*****d libtards would have a field day. I know my rights brigade would post a huge amount of crap on there.
No it's not, not the same thing at all. I said one person could review a lot of video. I didn't say one person could review it all.One person? Really, that's like saying one bloke can answer the phones for the whole force![]()
Or this. Great idea, and I'm sure the public, would want to help. There's plenty of scope to be creative here, at low cost, and if it helps catch more people like the moron featured above, it's got to be worth considering. How about a crowd sourced shortlisting process? If enough joe-public vote on a video then it gets officially reviewed
You are putting too much faith in the public. Remember most on here are sensible people, the majority of people the police come into contact with are not.I think Stewart was pointing out that 1 person (officer or trained civil servant) reviewing footage is more efficient than the same person driving around with a camera trying to catch someone in the act.
How about a crowd sourced shortlisting process? If enough joe-public vote on a video then it gets officially reviewed
because at the moment none of it is being reviewed.
so I can't see many people being daft enough to spend time filling out all the required info just to upload spammy videos and risk being done themselves for wasting police time.
You can already report non-emergency crimes online and give details of motoring offences. As it stands you can describe what evidence you have and if from your description the police think it is something worth pursuing they can get in touch to obtain a copy.
It wouldn't take much to add an upload facility to the current form.
You have to give plenty of information about yourself, so I can't see many people being daft enough to spend time filling out all the required info just to upload spammy videos and risk being done themselves for wasting police time.

I'm really struggling to follow your reasoning here. These "dashcam warriors" as you describe them are people who believe that their own style of driving is very safe, and that they're surrounded by dangerous loons. Surely they're exactly the kind of people who *will* be prepared to follow through.I doubt many of the dashcam warriors will be happy about standing in the witness box as most who submit footage will be the type that wave their arms and flash their lights when they get overtaken doing 40 in a 60
Just look at the footage you see on youtube compared to the amount of prosecutions reported, they just want anonymous retribution
A lot of that could have been TBH Carl10:09 is filmed by ........ @Cobra
Surely noti wonder what the link is......................
