Darkslinger's 52 Week Challenge - 2022

A nice set. And nice natural colour pop in the chosen one :)

1/2 - interesting photos Bill, I like the crowd shot and the panning shot most, closely followed by the last one.

Post, lots of posts bill, I like the colours in the last .

Thanks Dave, that's what caught my eye.

Thanks Pete, I had fun doing the 1/2 challenge. The last image in the post set is one where I desaturated all the colours except the red.

I like the one you've selected the couple holding hands really adds to the picture.
Thank you Simon.

Good set Bill. I like the faded tattoo one.
I had to look really hard to decide which one you were talking about Peter :D
You have better eyes than I do...

I like the one you’ve chosen Bill and the addition of a small area of colour.
l think the yellow post is particularly striking and nicely framed.

Really nice set. Your chosen shot is fab! I love the pop of colour and the juxtaposition of the couple and the circle, and the windows, all telling a story. It works so well!

Thanks Pete, I tried to play with colour and form for this challenge.

Thanks Bebop, I appreciate your kind comments. You're seeing exactly what I saw when I looked at the image in post.

Week #28 - Water, water everywhere...

After a nice set of days of sunny weather we are back to the staple of the "wet" coast. This challenge must have been a harbinger of the rainy weather, just in time for the Latin festival down the block.

I managed to get out a couple of times. I thought that I'd do a little long exposure down at the foot of the Pattullo Bridge (you can read about it HERE if you are so inclined):

It's eventually going to be either replaced or twinned (not sure) and they've started working on the footings:

Yesterday I went to the Chinatown festival and then walked around the downtown. I love the expressions on these ladies (and their reflections in the water:

I found an art installation and I like how the image with its reflection looks almost abstract:

And this bench beside a pool that I've shot before. I keep going back to it for the minimalist look that it gives me:

The courthouse waterfalls always look good but I do like how this capture turned out:

And lastly, the obligatory shot of the North Shore from the downtown convention centre. I like how the b&w turned out:

You've produced a great set to choose from. The reflective ladies and the minimalist shot grabbed my attention, as did your chosen one.

Post: I love your chosen shot with the pop of colour and dof.
Water.. extremely envious of all of these given the drought and temperatures we are currently suffering. I rather like #3 - an interesting street capture.

Super set! The Chinese ladies is my fave!

Certainly a good set to choose from.
Thanks David.

I really struggled between that one and the waterfall. Ultimately I went with the waterfall because the water in the ladies shot only played a small part in the overall shot. It was really about the expressions on the faces of the ladies.

Thanks Helen. I feel for you all there, we had a one-week heat dome last year where the temperatures spiked in a similar way.

Thanks Dave!

Great set, but the reflected bench strikes me most.
Thanks Nick, I've shot the mate of that bench before but never came across this one from this angle.

Lovely set Bill, The ladies walking with the reflection in the puddle for me!
Thanks Simon, seems to be mostly a consensus.

Ooh a lovely set. I would have been unable to choose!
Thanks Bebop, it's always a good thing when you have difficulty choosing :D

Week #29 - Handles

A slow week this week as far as the challenge. I did get out an shoot one of the festivals that was taking place nearby but nothing that would tie into the challenge. I settled with a few closeup shots taken last minute...

Nice mono chosen. Fab shot.

First one for me too Bill. Lovely light and composition.
Thanks Pete.

Love the light in the top one.
Thank you Catherine.
That first shot is particularly nice, the curves and the light are lovely.
Thanks Nick.
Three nice shots but I'm with you on the chosen which has stronger shadows.
Thanks Helen.
Love the lighting and composition of your chosen shot. I’m curious how you got the second? Was it a real water background?
I kind of like how that turned out Bebop. It's the glass top of our patio table. It has a pattern in it that makes it look like water.
Great handle shots Bill. You chose the right one for me. Nice mono and lovely composition.
Thank you Simon.

Week #30 - Dust

My mom always told me to dust the surface that I was going to use to roll out the dough...

Oh dear, I’ve just taken a similar shot and was about to post.
Great minds think alike, Bill.

Now, is yours”better” than mine, and dare I post it?

Yep that's another theme done and dusted :D

Nice shot Bill, not being much of a baker it never crossed my mind, but I like the movement of the flour as it drops.

Pete
