The TP52 - 2026 Darkslinger's 52 for 26

Great set Bill and I like the one you've chosen. I also really like the "One of the stations" with it's dark frame and shadows.

I like doughnuts, really like the industrial shots though especially the second industrial.

Guess Artists is a typo/auto correct helping out again?

A great set. I really like the view through the open window - that really speaks to me.

A difficult call to choose an image from your selection.
Personally I may have gone for the one with the lathes, because I quite like engineering shops, but I do get the choice of the iced donuts because of the colour contrasts.

I like those and the orange pop on the doughnuts is good.

I quite like number 6 also. The shadows and light through the window is lovely.
Thanks Adam, the #6 shot was a last minute grab as the train reached the station. I liked how the light cast the shadows onto the platform.

Thanks Keith, yeah, maybe Artisans would have been a better choice. Granville Island is known for it's artists and artisans so I'm not sure if the machine shops are more industrial or art oriented.
Great set as always Bill
Thank you Simon.

Thanks Paul, I think that was a 3 or 4 shot HDR. The interior was very dark. I like looking into machine shops, there's always a story there...

LOL, when I saw the doughnuts there all I could think of was Homer Simpson...

Another great set of pictures! Did you buy a doughnut? I don't think I could resist the temptation.

Thanks Simon, no, I was on my way out by that time and they were on the inside while I was on the outside...last thing I need is more sugar and calories...

I’d have picked “one of the stations”, enjoying the complexity of the structures and shadows in the image

Week 4 Broken

Nothing too special this week, just some random things found around our neighbourhood while I walked the dog...

The fence around a building site:
Week 4 - Broken 1.jpg

And just inside the fence, someone dropped this broken side table (I liked the crow sitting there watching me):

And, of course, the obligatory broken branch:

I liked how this fast food place just used a noodle sticker to patch the broken window:

Hard to tell but this a light with the bottom piece broken:

A good set Bill (as ever). My favourite is the side table & crow.

Good set for broken Bill, noodles not the most inviting or safe with the outer pane pointy bits

Another fine selection Bill. Your chosen shot works best for me, but they're all suitable.

Cracking! (Sorry)

I like that, the pop of clean colour against the damage.

I do like the one you've chosen Bill. The splash of colour works nicely. I like the crow one too.

Thanks Paul, I do seem to get a lot of crows in any set of images that I take near where I live...good thing I like crows

Yeah, I would be kind of worried that I'd be picking shards of glass out of my ramen...
Another fine selection Bill. Your chosen shot works best for me, but they're all suitable.
Thanks Simon.
The crow and the noodle shop stand out for me
Thank you Allan.
I like the chosen image and fits the theme perfectly
Thanks Adam.

LOL, I was waiting for some type of wisecrack... :D
All on theme for the shot, but your choice works well because of the vibrancy of the stickers :)
Thanks Tim, it was the colours that caught my eye, and then the fact that they seem to have tried to cover up the damage with them...
I do like the one you've chosen Bill. The splash of colour works nicely. I like the crow one too.
Thanks Pete, I always like a good crow (or dog) shot.

Week 5 Rainy Day

Perfect timing for this theme. It's been raining here for about a week. Luckily my Oly EM1 is super weather sealed :D

The city painted these road barriers leading down to University Boulevard. They really popped in the light
Week 5 - Rainy Day 1.jpg
Went downtown the next morning and the lights above Robson Square were still up. The reflections in the puddles really worked well. I was lucky to capture the young lady and were dog
Week 5 - Rainy Day 2.jpg

From the other direction, I liked how this turned out, kind of gritty with that gloomy urban vibe
Week 5 - Rainy Day 3.jpg

On Granville Street there are a number of bars/cafes some of which weren't open but had their signs lit up
Week 5 - Rainy Day 4.jpg

On my way down to the waterfront, the red of the fire hydrant coupled with the reflection of the stop light caught my eye, I was just going to move on when this woman in red crossed the street in front of me, what were the chances? I grabbed a couple of quick shots.
Week 5 - Rainy Day 5.jpg

The Drop installation on the waterfront (more information here) really popped against the rain and mist.

I do like your chosen image the focus being on the foreground is a clever touch.

I'm waiting for the rain and planning on going out with my OM TG-7.
I feel drawn towards the shot with the lady in the red coat. It's the contrast of the colour and the dull day for me.

I do like your chosen image but the lady in the red coat is my favourite. The splash of colour and the wet pavement really make the shot.

Another great set, any of which would have made a fine entry.

I think I might have gone for The Drop, just because it looks so wet! The composition of that shot is edgy, and I like edgy.

That's a good set of images for this week. I like them all.

Nice photos again Bill, I will look at the main thread to see if I guessed right :), I think you will like the girl with the coat that matches the lights. My favourite is the patchy puddle shot reflections.

HA HA ! I don' t believe it. I was wrong. You and your photos are full of surprises.

Superb set Bill. My choice would be red hydrant, coat and brolly pic :)

I like all of those, especially the lady walking with red coat and brolly.

Nice set :)

Thanks everyone, I was expecting to like the "red lady" shot more just because it seemed so serendipitous at the time, but it just didn't click for me when I got it on the big screen.

I do like your chosen image the focus being on the foreground is a clever touch.
Thanks Allan, I was trying to emphasize the reflection of the lights. The guy with the brolly just added some context and interest in the background.

Thanks Paul, that was definitely the other contender, for exactly the reasons that you talk about.
That's a good set of images for this week. I like them all.
Thanks Dominic
Great set Bill, your chosen shot is one of the best for me
Thank you Keith.
That low angle works really well.
Thanks Nick, I always like to try shots from different angles.
That’s a really great set, hard pressed to choose
Thanks Alan.
All good pictures, you've captured the theme well.
Thank you Simon.
