Darkslinger's 52 for 25

Week 50 Past

I took my dog out to the North 40 off-leash dog park. This park is litter with the remnants of an old army base, CFS Ladner, these include old roads, fire hydrants, fruit trees and oaks among other things, . You can find more information about the site HERE if you're interested.

Yeah what a dog park needs is a hydrant! Nice set :)

Good set of pictures Bill and thanks for the link with more info

As someone mentioned above the fire hydrant image works

Joining the consensus about the hydrant. . About to follow the link, good to have a backstory

Nice set of images Bill. I think I like the Hydrant out of them all.
Thanks Kell, yes, I liked that one as well but there was something about the final image (maybe it was my dog...) that made me choose it.

Thanks Dave, one of many old defunct hydrants around the park...I'm surprised that the grass around them isn't dead...
Good set of images Bill
Thanks Paul
Good strong set as usual Bill
Thank you Simon

Thanks Keith, I always like it when others post some more information about the back story of an image so I thought I would as well.

I decided to go with this one even though the reflection maybe plays more of a supporting role...I just liked it better.

Correct decision, it’s a really strong picture, the two components really complement and add to the whole. Nice one

Week 52 New

Well...new for me. I was given my father-in-law's old Canon Canonet QL19. It's a little dirty and dusty but appears to be working well. I was surprised that the battery still had a charge. I don't think that it's been used for 15 or 20 years...
I'm looking forward to having it reconditioned and taking it out to shoot some film in 2026!
Happy New Year everyone!

Great picture, that would be a challenge for me to master. I am far too used to snapping photos and deleting as I go. This would make you really think about each shot.

Thanks Simon, I did have an old Olympus OM2 film camera given to me that I've taken out a couple of time. It's definitely a different shooting experience.
Good "New" image. Good luck with the the camera!
Thanks Paul, I'm looking forward to it.

Hope 2026 is a fantastic year for both of you!

Love this one Bill,
The three different squares, the three circles of the chairs and the girl with a huge left footed stride,

Outstanding image IMO

Thanks Wayne, I appreciate it!

Hope you have a wonderful New Year!

Good set for reflection.
I must get back to using my old film cameras they have been gathering dust for the last few years. That's a nice gift.
I have enjoyed your pictures this year, you put a lot of effort and thought into it.
