Darkslinger's 52 for 25

Nice set Bill, a few good ones there. The glass is awesome, great picture for the wall that one.

Great set. The B+W shot is epic so the right choice

But I also really like the broken glass - the way it flows against the pebbles make it look like you've discovered something that'll give you superpowers!!

Nice set there Bill, your chosen LE shot works well and great colours in the moss macro

Good job I was paying attention when thinking about commenting, as I'd initially missed that you'd labeled this as Tech - oops.
I'm not really one for smoothed water, but the clouds look suitably menacing :)

Excellent mono shot for 'Broken' Bill. Ticks all the boxes and the liittle danger sign adds so much!
Thanks Dave (I didn't even notice the danger sign  )
Excellent set! Personally I don't find it at all overprocessed.
Thanks Paul, I sometimes don't know when I've gone to far...
Lovely series Bill and I like the one you've picked. The broken glass shot appealed to me too.
Thanks Pete, there were quite a few pieces of this glass on the beach, I think that this one worked out well.
Really strong chosen image, but I'm also drawn to the broken glass.
Thank you Kell!

I was going to taste it but then had Hulk-related images flash through my mind and I chickened out...:geek:

Thanks Keith, I always find the the colours in the moss spores make for excellent macros.

LOL, thanks Tim.
A nice selection Bill. I love your chosen shot.
Thank you Simon!

Week #13 - Texture

I wasn't feeling very motivated this week. I thought that I'd go out in the woods to look for "texture-in-the-wild" but didn't come back with anything the first time I went out. It was during the my walk the dog at the McKay trail that I got the idea of combining the images into a triptych:

Week #13 - Texture (1 of 2).JPG

Or a quintych?

Week #13 - Texture (2 of 2).JPG

Very nice indeed! The presentation seems to add texture of its own.

I particularly like the triptych! Great textures and framing them makes them 'pop' off the screen as the youth would say

Fab idea and works well :)

Good idea and has worked well, can see a few “faces” in the bark :)

Great idea, the dogs are always good inspiration! The quintych is great, such a range of textures

Thanks Paul, I happy with how it turned out. I wasn't sure how to create a triptych in PS so I had to watch a couple of videos before I found one that I liked.

Thanks Ross, I did have a bit of trouble deciding which one to post but ultimately thought that I go with the narrow taller images. They're more evocative of trees in my mind.
Fab idea and works well :)
Thanks Dave.
Excellent idea and well presented
Thank you Allan

Thanks Keith, yeah, I took quite a few shots without thinking of faces, until I took the last image in the quintych. The face in that one really jumped out for me.
Great idea, the dogs are always good inspiration! The quintych is great, such a range of textures
Thanks Megan!

I love the idea of combining them. Though I'm leaning towards the triptych.

We always talk in our business (creative advertising) about the rule of threes. There's something about three that appeals.

Thanks Kell, yeah I like threes but am drawn to any odd-number combination.

Week #14 Shadows

So, of course, we have shadows right when we're entering into an extended period of clouds and rain. I went downtown but just couldn't find anything that turned my crank...

I ended up messing around with a couple of old d&d figurines that I still have from my college days, along with a small desk lamp, Not my best of favourite images, but they'll do for the theme...

Here are a few of what I got:

Week 14 - Shadows 1.JPGWeek 14 - Shadows 2.JPGWeek 14 - Shadows 3.JPGWeek 14 - Shadows 4.JPG

I like the one you put in the images thread, the last one here as it's quite intriguing.
The lack of depth of field and the general tone and feeling of it appeal to me

That works well.

Thanks for the explanation, I was a bit perplexed.

Nice set, think I prefer the colour version but that’s just me. Re the weather it’s been excellent over here for over a week- makes a change :)

Thanks Paul, yeah I thought that I probably needed to add some context with the image.

Thanks Keith, I played around with some different colour versions. The weather would have been perfect for this theme the week before. It's been a week of sunshine and warm weather followed by a week of cold, wet and cloudy...

Week #15 Snapper's Choice

A bunch of random shots from near and far...

From some front gardens of houses just off of Commercial Drive.

1. Old, dried leaves, with some creative post-processing
Week 15 - Snappers Choice 1.JPG

2. the obligatory cherry blossoms (they're in full bloom right now)
Week 15 - Snappers Choice 2.JPG

Some more random shots from the same area.

3. really liked this little teddy left on a fire hydrant next to a mailbox (I liked the colours)
Week 15 - Snappers Choice 3.JPG

4. from outside a small local Buddhist temple,
Week 15 - Snappers Choice 4.JPG

5. the trilliums have also started blooming, this is from a local urban forest
Week 15 - Snappers Choice 5.JPG

6. and from my own garden, my blooming Pieris japonica
Week 15 - Snappers Choice 6.JPG

A good set besides your chosen one I quite like the cherry blossom and the poor abandoned teddy bear.

A great set, and I really like your chosen shot.

I do wonder if it works a little better with the bright area at the top cropped off?

Love the first one of these - the lighting, depth and perspective are amazing, the background adds to it too!

Very cinematic!!

Absolutely beautiful cherry blossoms. I love the shallow focus, real dream-like quality to this

What lens are you using?

I like your chosen shot - but I too would lose that bright area at the top!

Good set but, as above, the bright bit at the top of trilliums shot is distracting.
Cherry blossom looks very nice, we have some ATM but will only last max couple of weeks.
.

I really like the cherry blossom and the abandoned Teddy.

There's a Flickr group I'm in that's called TLOP (Things Left On Posts) to cater for, well... things left on posts, fences, railings, postboxes etc....

Hi Bill - Textures, Shadows and Snapper's all good sets as usual.
I particularly like the cherry blossom shot

Thanks everyone, it's funny that you pointed out the light at the top of the trillium. It was actually a conscious decision on my part to capture that light from the background in the top (I had to kneel way down to include it, but if you don't have dirty knees after you've been our shooting then you haven't had nearly enough fun!).

In my mind I was trying to get the flower "reaching for the light"...maybe the colour version works better for this?

Thanks Ross, I was using my Olympus M. Zuiko Digital ED 60mm macro lens (120mm equivalent).
But I think it was the more the processing the got the effect. Start in LR with basic adjustments then into Nik Color Efex Pro 4 with one of the included presets and then back into LR for some final adjustments...sounds complicated but actually pretty quick.

Thanks Kell, I'll have a look for it. I haven't been into Flickr for a long time.

Week #16 After the Rain

Of course we enter a period of clear skies and sunshine right at the start of this challenge... :$

Luckily we had a couple of days where there was a little bit of rain at night, so technically the next morning/afternoon is "after the rain",,,

Decided to stick with flowers for the theme.

#1 the metal flower at my sister-in-law's place
Week 16 - After the Rain 1.JPG

#2 a little grape hyacinth growing in her garden
Week 16 - After the Rain 2.JPG

And from my walk in the woods at High Knoll park:
