The 2nd one works for me better took like the warmth and reflection in the water - well done for getting out too, I ended up with an archive one this week!
Hi Dan, the second shot is much better just as the old sayings go 'Good photos come to those who wait'![]()
Hi Dan ...really nice reflections in the water there ...I like the composition with the bridge to the left, the second one is definitely better.Much nicer that you've not submitted an archive shot....hopefully the theme will fit your skiing trip![]()
Scenic - the second image works much better nice colours, looks nice and peaceful there which is my kind of place. Lovely reflections in the water as well good effort for the theme.

The second one for me too. Colours are much better and well worth the wait.
I had to go and have lunch at a lovely restaurant next to my scene to wait for the right light![]()
Nice colours and reflection ... #2 for me.
as others have said the 2nd shot is better. A bit of a crop of the top maybe, seems a bit too much sky in it.
Second for me too Dan, it just goes to show, if you hang around for a bit...........![]()
1st shot looks a little on the cool side. 2nd shot portrays some lovely colours. Liking the reflection in the water.
Hi Dan that's the shot you see in your rear view mirror as you drive away. Been there done that but it took some time to sink into my thick head. This also happens at sunset, sun sets then 20 mins after you get the stunning light, you know just as your putting the tripod in the boot
.
Nice shot Dan, 2 obviously. Nice arc of cloud reflected in the river, with the subtlest of pink hues. ( I think, but not on my calibrated monitor so might be this dodgy screen ) Great reflections in the water. Guess I would have liked to have seen more of the bridge looks interesting! But pulling into the shot looses the nice reflection. I think the diagonal of the opposite bank gives a nice lead in to the bridge. Like the saplings reflection in the river too.
Nice shot nice light

TP 52 Week 4 Companion - The Set-up by danhardwick, on FlickrThanks, I quite enjoyed this week it was quite an open theme, I did have a bit of fun with the setup, it's a bit heath Robinson though.Companions - well that certainly is a fun take on the theme, I rather like it. Looks like you put a bit of thought and effort into the image, judging by the image showing your set up.
LOl what a great idea, Dan. Tis a nice fun image, to put the theme to bed
Sorry

Hehe, I think that is brilliant.
Very clever set up shot, thanks for sharing that too.
Companions
Nicely thought out Dan, great idea.
That's different and amusing too.![]()
Thanks very much, like I said in previous comments I really enjoyed this week. Much better than last week.Scenic - The hint of the early morning mist brings some atmosphere to this one
Companions - Great idea which brought a smile to my face. No dodgy reflections off the cutlery which is good.
Haha yes I did used to watch Blue Peter, never got a badge though.A great idea Dan and well executed (did you use to watch Blue Peter as well!). I like the starburst light it adds to the atmosphere!
Really like this one Dan. Made me smile going through the images thread which is always the sign of a good photo. Effort, time and thought always make a better shot.
Well thought out Dan, companions, excellent take on the theme.
Phil
Hi companions what a wonderful idea I like the composition I like the textures in the bed and as Peter has said and done well with the lighting on the contrary.
If I was to be very critical if the gap near the corner of the wall was gone,I think it will be a little bit better, nonetheless it's a well taking a well thought out photograph.
Cheers.
Hi Dan ...this one made me smile ....a great fun idea![]()
def. fits the theme and well constructed although I don't like the light peeping down at the top - it doesn't have any context, maybe if you'd made a little bedside lamp - I bet you could too as you've done a great job lol, I like the tea-towel as the blanket too.
Agree with a couple of the small negatives the light and the gap in the background join.
But a really superb idea well shot.![]()
Just playing catch up on comments...
Scenic - A very relaxing scene with the gentle water leading me to the bridge. I can't help thinking it could do with a crop into a bit more of a landscape aspect ratio. It feels a bit flat for me. Thanks for posting your demo shot too. It's amazing how much the same photo can be so different in such a short space of time.
Companions - Fantastic shotWell thought out and taken. Great fun

Hey Dan! Clever idea for companions- made me smile when I looked at it, and thanks for the set up pic too - I often wonder how people achieve their more creative shots!
Hiya Dan, what an improvement between those two scenic shots - well worth waiting and a nicely composed shot with much better natural light. Reflection works well too.
Companions is a brill idea and very well executed - love seeing your setup shot too! For me the hard shadows work well, although I'd be inclined to lift the shadows a tiny bit more... still a great shot though![]()
TP 52 Wk 5 - Elegant(ly) skiing the powder by danhardwick, on FlickrDan I really like this, and think it fits the theme really well.
Fantastic detail in the snow!
Hi Dan
Nice elegant shot.. i would have liked it as a tighter crop on the skier, but that just a personal thing.
As pointed out great detail in the snow
