weekly Dan Hardwick 52 Challenge - Week 7,8 & 9 Bold, Relax and Vertical added

The 2nd one works for me better took like the warmth and reflection in the water - well done for getting out too, I ended up with an archive one this week!

The second one for me too. Colours are much better and well worth the wait.

I had to go and have lunch at a lovely restaurant next to my scene to wait for the right light :naughty::naughty:

Nice colours and reflection ... #2 for me.

Second for me too Dan, it just goes to show, if you hang around for a bit...........

1st shot looks a little on the cool side. 2nd shot portrays some lovely colours. Liking the reflection in the water.

Hi Dan that's the shot you see in your rear view mirror as you drive away:(. Been there done that but it took some time to sink into my thick head. This also happens at sunset, sun sets then 20 mins after you get the stunning light, you know just as your putting the tripod in the boot:rolleyes:.

Nice shot Dan, 2 obviously. Nice arc of cloud reflected in the river, with the subtlest of pink hues. ( I think, but not on my calibrated monitor so might be this dodgy screen ) Great reflections in the water. Guess I would have liked to have seen more of the bridge looks interesting! But pulling into the shot looses the nice reflection. I think the diagonal of the opposite bank gives a nice lead in to the bridge. Like the saplings reflection in the river too.

Nice shot nice light

Hi Dan, the second shot is much better just as the old sayings go 'Good photos come to those who wait' :)

Thanks very much, and they certainly do.

Hi Dan ...really nice reflections in the water there ...I like the composition with the bridge to the left, the second one is definitely better.Much nicer that you've not submitted an archive shot....hopefully the theme will fit your skiing trip :)

Thanks very much, I really didnt want to do an archive and like i said I wasnt that happy with this, but its grown on me.

Scenic - the second image works much better nice colours, looks nice and peaceful there which is my kind of place. Lovely reflections in the water as well good effort for the theme.

Than You both.

Sounds like a plan. Thanks

Nice colours and reflection ... #2 for me.

Thanks

as others have said the 2nd shot is better. A bit of a crop of the top maybe, seems a bit too much sky in it.

I wasnt sure where to crop when I did the edit, I can see your point though, Thanks

Thanks very much for taking the time to critique, much appreciated. You are right about the shot in the rear view mirror, its always the same with me, I should learn but I never do.

Week 4 - Companion

Firstly I must apologise for the distinct lack of commenting, Its been a busy couple of weeks, I will endeavour to get back to you all.

I had a few ideas for companion, Wedding rings on hands, couple etc and then I thought Knife and Fork, which developed into Knife and Fork with a little baby spoon as a family. With maybe a tea towel for a duvet.

My mind works in strange ways sometimes.

So here it is, Hope you like it. The set-up shot is below.

Companions - well that certainly is a fun take on the theme, I rather like it. Looks like you put a bit of thought and effort into the image, judging by the image showing your set up.
Thanks, I quite enjoyed this week it was quite an open theme, I did have a bit of fun with the setup, it's a bit heath Robinson though.

LOl what a great idea, Dan. Tis a nice fun image, to put the theme to bed (y)
Sorry :coat:
:D

WOW ... certainly fun to see the effort involved in this 52 lark.

Scenic - The hint of the early morning mist brings some atmosphere to this one

Companions - Great idea which brought a smile to my face. No dodgy reflections off the cutlery which is good.

Thanks very much, like I said in previous comments I really enjoyed this week. Much better than last week.

A great idea Dan and well executed (did you use to watch Blue Peter as well!). I like the starburst light it adds to the atmosphere!
Haha yes I did used to watch Blue Peter, never got a badge though.

I tried it without the light but it didn't work so I'm glad you agree. The starburst is purely a product of a long exposure.

Thanks very much.

Really like this one Dan. Made me smile going through the images thread which is always the sign of a good photo. Effort, time and thought always make a better shot.

Well thought out Dan, companions, excellent take on the theme.

Phil

Hi companions what a wonderful idea I like the composition I like the textures in the bed and as Peter has said and done well with the lighting on the contrary.

If I was to be very critical if the gap near the corner of the wall was gone,I think it will be a little bit better, nonetheless it's a well taking a well thought out photograph.

Cheers.

def. fits the theme and well constructed although I don't like the light peeping down at the top - it doesn't have any context, maybe if you'd made a little bedside lamp - I bet you could too as you've done a great job lol, I like the tea-towel as the blanket too.

Agree with a couple of the small negatives the light and the gap in the background join.
But a really superb idea well shot. (y)

Just playing catch up on comments...

Scenic - A very relaxing scene with the gentle water leading me to the bridge. I can't help thinking it could do with a crop into a bit more of a landscape aspect ratio. It feels a bit flat for me. Thanks for posting your demo shot too. It's amazing how much the same photo can be so different in such a short space of time.

Companions - Fantastic shot (y) Well thought out and taken. Great fun :D

Hey Dan! Clever idea for companions- made me smile when I looked at it, and thanks for the set up pic too - I often wonder how people achieve their more creative shots!

Hiya Dan, what an improvement between those two scenic shots - well worth waiting and a nicely composed shot with much better natural light. Reflection works well too.

Companions is a brill idea and very well executed - love seeing your setup shot too! For me the hard shadows work well, although I'd be inclined to lift the shadows a tiny bit more... still a great shot though :)

Thanks, it was a developing thought and I really enjoyed it. Thanks for taking the time

Thanks very much, glad you like, I tried a couple of different lighting set-up but found the simple to be the best.

I did consider the bedside lamp and i tried it but i found the light wasn't as good as this over the top lighting. Thanks for you comments.

Thanks very much, The scenic shot was not a happy one for me, I should have probably waited a little while longer to get a bit more contrast but the diy was calling.

Hey Dan! Clever idea for companions- made me smile when I looked at it, and thanks for the set up pic too - I often wonder how people achieve their more creative shots!

Thanks and no problem, I wanted to show the Heath Robinson Nature of the shot to show how its not always as it seems.

Thanks very much, glad you like the scenic, I am still not sure its that great of a shot but it works for the theme.

As for the companions. I really enjoyed it and look forward to trying more like it later. Ill consider your comments about the lighting for next time.

Dan I really like this, and think it fits the theme really well.
Fantastic detail in the snow!

Hi Dan

Nice elegant shot.. i would have liked it as a tighter crop on the skier, but that just a personal thing.
As pointed out great detail in the snow

Thanks very much to you both.

It was a brave shot, taken from a chair lift, taking the glove off and camera out is always a bit risky.

Sorry Dan but it's not for me. I'm no great fan of high key shots, I feel they are the equivalent in optical terms of turning up the treble too much in audio. I like my bass, my darkness. That said, it certainly fits the theme and is well-executed.

I do like, Dan.
I'd love to know how you did it, because someone had to be holding the pouring glass, yes? How did you get rid of the hand?
Too many questions
I think I lack the PP skills for this malarkey :-)
