Just in case anything is thinking of getting one of these from a lower D series I thought I would post my review on it.
I have had it now for about 3 weeks and upgraded from a d50 which I had for about 3 years. Putting the obvious cost difference to one side, my overall conclusion that the d90 is a very big step up from the d50.
There are loads more buttons which do bracketing and can be assigned functions. The lcd is gorgeous and you get a much better impression of what you are shooting.
The video feature which I thought would be a waste of time is actually really handy, especially with children as I can simply switch to video if they start doing something funny. Yes it will not autofocus if the subject keeps moving around but you can manually focus. Better to have some not so good footage than no footage at all.
I am still a long way from getting the best out of the camera and there are lots of features and tweaks I probably have no idea about. I could not even figure out how to change the way the camera focused. The manual is not very good.
So overall an excellent but expensive buy.
I just went and played with a d300s and I can use how useful it is having buttons to get to the ISO, WB etc. Sigh maybe one day.

I've only had mine 3 weeks, really enjoying it.
