Does anyone have any recent good experiences with this company - I've read thru the 65 pages on AVF which say "don't do it".

Thinking of buying a Domke bag there - any thoughts?

Yep i think half of that number would have pretty much done it for me, funnily enough there was someone having quite a rant about these yesterday, in there first post in the welcoming section, i guess the mods must have deleted it now.

My only experience with them was a few months ago when I ordered a telescope eyepiece. After a week of waiting for next day delivery they finally told me they had no stock and offered a refund. I don't think they would sell fake goods, they are probably grey imports.

thats what happened to me

why the hell risk it:nono:

It seems to be greed that keeps dodgy companies like this going. Everyone likes a bargain but it amazes me when people think they can buy for example a lens for £500 less than anyone else sells it.
Who actually runs these places is hard to say- real criminals with a mix of real and false sales or are they incompetent muppets- the sort of characters who get voted off the Apprentice in week 1:lol:

If after 65 pages of predominantly negative comments you're still thinking of the money you think you'll save then you should just go for it but avoid posting when you lose your money.

I clearly appreciate the gist of your, and most other posters, comments but I was just keen to find out if anyone had actually had a successful transaction.

A lot of companies get bad names (eg Camerabox) but they must be doing something right if they are still in business, musn't they?

As for greed, it just irks me somewhat that the bag I'm after costs $130 in the US but £165 here - someone's being greedy but it ain't me!;)

This thread is a prime example of what keeps conmen in business.

Not at all!!

I'm asking a sensible question, so far no-one has replied in the affirmative.
If that continues then looks like I won't be doing business there and I doubt anyone else will, ergo conmen don't profit.

I don't see the problem with asking the question.

Anyway, having done some more googling, I'm amazed to find out that there is even a Facebook site about this particular website and it also appears the website/company is up for sale. So the conmen may not be in business for much longer.

If you don't ask......;)

I agree, we do get shafted in the UK for goods. Can't see that ever changing either- especially with most politicians from all parties being predominantly clueless on how to create an economy.(Obviously there's a lot of complexity in there but you know what I mean)

Still, there are some benefits of living here:thinking:, some nice scenic mountains, world class golfing/ mountain biking- just need a bit more sun and of course the kit is pretty dear- deja vu:lol:

hi just making my first post here and yes i had a good experience with crazy cameras.

just before i went on holiday earlier this year i bought a nikon flash for my mates birthday from them and i had just cleared security at the airport when some lady phoned me to go over every little detail of my purchase including the card details and this and that, all the time i'm standing with no shoes on holding my trousers up because i had to take my belt off...

over the next 2 weeks there was no sign of the flash and my wife kept texting me to let me know, when i got home i had an email sitting there with a tracking number, the flash had been dispatched the same day via DHL from los angeles california, it seemed to travel through various states until they tried to deliver it to my place of business on a wednesday when we are shut, i ordered it on a friday and they tried to deliver it the next wednesday, all they way from sunny california, sometimes it takes a fortnight for something to get here from england,

maybe i was lucky that my first transaction with them went well...

i saved £65 on the jessops price to boot...

oh well thats my first post

cheers...

WTF

"some lady phoned me to go over every little detail of my purchase including the card details"

You DIDN'T hang up ???

i had ordered through the website and she went through the exact details i had put on the order form with her telling ME the card details not the other way about...

i think it was because my delivery address was different to the address the card is registered at, (i've had problems with this before) i get all my deliveries sent to my work as there is no-one in the house during the day and i hate trying to find time to go to the DHL or others office to collect my things.

it all worked out in the end and it was a positive experience with CRAZY CAMERAS which is what the OP was asking for:thumbs:

i will deal with them again:cool:

The OP said "I've read thru the 65 pages on AVF"

there's also a Closed Thread there with 696 posts on 47 pages

maybe worth a read too ?

"nice friendly forum this"

David asked about "good" experiences - "friendly" advice was to read others experiences with CC....don't see a prob there .......
