Cotswold and Panamoz

I’ve got a friend who has used ‘E Infinity’ and ‘Tech in the Basket’ grey sites without any problems. If you can afford it, obviously it’s better to buy from a non grey import reputable company based in this country, both for any future problems, and also peace of mind!
 
I have sent (through the Panamoz.com website contact form) a query to Panamoz, asking them to identify the legal entity I would be contracting with if I were to buy a camera from them.

I await their response, but I shan't hold my breath.

Possibly, but that information is not neccessarily the answer to my question.
 
After the messing about by a u.k shop that my son recently bought from I really can’t advise buying from a u.k company unless you need finance . If you have the cash or enough of a credit card limit ,then buy from one of these grey importers , you get the same goods with often longer u.k warranty , and often quicker as well ..
The only u.k group that I recommend is Wex as their customer service and care dept is excellent. .
 
I placed an order with Panamoz on Thursday, got the tracking number Friday morning. Tracking yesterday (Sunday) says delayed due to severe weather.

My mate Dave says Panamoz have been faster and packaging is better but both have been excellent when it’s come to warranty claims.

I have bought both those lenses from Cotswold. Haven't tried Panamoz as Cotswold have been quick to respond to my emails and the shipping has always been fast (c. 1 week from order to delivery). The difference in price can pay for a nice weekend away to get some shots from a new location...

Ordered Nikon Z6 iii on 31st July 25 from Cotswold arrived today 4 Aug 25.
UK shop £2499.
Panamoz £1570.
Cotsawold £1459.
Am I happy?
Yes with camera and price.

Costwold are knocking £900 off the Leica Q3_43 - (RRP £5,900 - Cotswold £5,099)

first time I have seen a new Leica at a discount!!!
 
Recently up-dated my Nikon DSLR and F mount stuff to mirrorless and Z mount:
Zf
Z9 x2
FTZ adapter
Z40mm f2.8 SE
Z14 -24mm 2.8
Z24-70mm 2.8
Z70-200mm 2.8

Total bill from Panamoz £11,560 (Inc multi purchase discount £300.00)
Total cost from LCE £19,642
Total saving £8,082

So you could say I got the Zf and all three lenses for just over £1000.00

I would have loved to have given the business to my local LCE...but not to the tune of £8,082

Still blown a big hole in my pension pot though!
 
So sounds like you guys tried those shops and everythign went well so far.
What about registering for example lens on Manuafacturer site for warranty - does this work?
If I bought Tamron lens from Costwold, could I then register it with tamron for their 5 years warranty with Cotswold invoice?

No, your warranty would be with Cotswolds not Tamron
 
I've not tried to register my Nikon stuff. When I was purchasing the kit, Wex's website stated 1 year warranty with Nikon, so I wasn't too worried. Panamoz state 3 years but I hope not to need it (don't we all). Worst case, with the money saved I can pay for my own repairs

Recently bought a OMS 100-400 mkii from Cotswolds , took 8 days door to door with full time tracking from Hong Kong ,and a £400+ saving over u.k prices , no waiting for cashback , + 3 year warranty hope it’s never required..
Given that used mki models are selling at u.k retailers for around £100 less it’s the best £840:I’ve ever spent

Panamos doesnt have lens I want to buy, Looking at Cotswold (Tamron 16-30 for Z).
 
I am considering using an import company , Cotswold or Panamoz to buy an expensive lens. The saving is quite considerable, whilst I prefer to support our local camera shop, the saving is around £600

Only you can weigh the pro's and cons...everyone is different.

People here (including myself) have used both companies with great success.

Panamoz in particular provide a great service (and are responsive to questions sent via email), though in general are a little more expensive...but will often offer an advertised lower price if you as nicely and quote like-for-like elsewhere.
 
The other day I found some interesting reading on this subject.
The sentance that stands out most to me is "The Court also relied on the “…good sense…” of trading standards officers not to pursue prosecutions in inappropriate cases."

It seems this relates more to items that the trademark holder doesn't want to be sold in the UK.

Under s.92(1)(b) of the Act, it is a criminal offence for a person to sell, hire out or offer for sale or hire, goods bearing a registered trade mark without the consent of the proprietor.

From what I can gather, Canon certainly are not bothered, my 'grey' R5 died after 6 months, I rang them and told them it was a grey import from Hong Kong, they responded 'as long as you pay to fix it we don't care'. I did pay, E-Infinity refunded me and Canon then gave me a 6 month UK warranty :ROFLMAO:

By my standards that's positively current affairs when it comes to news reporting! I still shoot film and drive a diesel car. I don't find anything to suggest the ruling has been overturned however.

It would seem unlikely that a brand like Canon would spend £10K's to drag an individual through the courts as it's not worth the bother but that's not the same as "consent".

Interesting decision. I guess Canon (the worldwide parent company) is content for Canon UK to potentially lose sales revenue, but presumably take the view that the group is still making camera and lens sales (and by implication profits) ?

Does anyone know if grey imports have similar price advantages in EU countries ?
