Firstly, thanks to George for the haggis! We've been discussing it via PM for quite a while now, and I've really been looking forward to it. Will be cooking it for tomorrow's lunch hopefully :D

I'd also like to thank every single person who helped in the convention. I feel ashamed I didn't do more to help to be honest.
Therefore I'd firstly like to thank Yv for organising the whole thing! She's done really well sorting this weekend out, it couldn't have been easy.
So thanks Yv, it's really appreciated.

Also, thanks to all the manufacturers and vendors who came along (Im still drooling over that £800 Manfrotto tripod :D)

Also, I'd like to offer thanks to everyone else who gave their time and more to help out, including Marc, Carol, and also Lee from TogsPrint. Sorry I haven't named everyone who got stuck in, but not only am I terrible with names (and public speeches :p), I think everyone did something to make the convention happen.
Also, thanks to everyone who donated prizes for the raffle too! (I promise me winning one wasn't a fix!!!!)

I would have liked to have come for both days (and in hindsight should have!....damn that curry and beer sounded nice!), but family commitments meant I couldn't. That said, I had a thoroughly brilliant time, and it was really good to meet every single one of you. I'm gutted I didn't spend any time on the TogsPrint studio setup, and plum forgot to bring a shot to be printed on the Epson stand.

Sorry my impromptu 'thanks' at the end was quite short  I can write a post off the top of my head, but put me infront of a room of people and that's it....nada!.

What I *meant* to say at the end of the convention was...

Finally, thanks to every one of you for being a member on the forums, and being a part of what I am proud to call my internet home. Gestures such as the cufflinks, the getting together of everybody at the convention (and meets), the huge generosity I've seen from everyone, not just via the convention but via the forum itself. It all cements my view that we really do have a great community of members here.
Anyone who may be a little cynical and jaded by some of the recent negative behaviour by others on the forum just need to take a look at the convention and what was achieved, and what happens on the forum each day....and they'll soon realise that any bad posts they've seen are easily dwarfed by huge amounts of friendliness, helpfulness and generosity.

All meted out by a forum full of good, kind people.

Thats all down to you lot. A forum is nothing without it's members, I've always said it, and I think I can speak for the other two admins too when I offer my thanks for making this forum what it is, a forum I'm proud to come to every day.

I think I've rabbited on enough, this is beginning to sound like an oscars speech! :D....b****r off now so I can go to bed

I picked up that £800 tripod and thought "oh thats nice" then asked him and very quickly put it back again :)

Yes, Can only agree with what has been said above....

£800 was an "oh nice" product!

*Jokes*

Seriously, It was a very nice day at the convention, we even had time for a mini shoot afterwards on the way home and some fun with an ND10 (Simon???) and flash which was rather weird but fun!

I trully had a positive day, seeing prints by Lee (Togsprint) in the flesh, A VERY informative Lee Filters talk and the Gents from Bogen were nice chaps also!
This said, For my photography it has given me a little boost that I need for an up and coming shoot I have to do for a special occasion. This is well worth the time and money spent to attend yesterdays event.

Big thanks from me :D
(As I dont post here often - I was the younger lad ( ;) ) in the random blue hoodie.

I steered well clear from that stall as I am already sorted with my Aldi special tripod :) The £800 tripod did make a brilliant light stand though I'm sure everyone would agree  Looking forward to seeing the group photos.

I must add that gitzo mega bucks tripod makes a great strobist light stand....;)

I said plenty elsewhere, so just to back up what Marcel has said, regardless of any niggling issues with a few people with poor attitudes, ths weekend really has endorsed that feeling that this is generally a forum full of positive, friendly, helpful people that all want to contribute in some small way to make it a better place. So to every member that does that >>

I am with Gaz btw, the weekend has given me a real photographic boost, I want to get out with my camera again now and do some stuff

Oh it was nice, I thought the 2.3m stand was brilliant. I got a shot of marcel standing underneath it but my camera was still in manual mode from the studio shoot so you can't see anything at all!

I have the one from when you injured yourself trying to touch the top....

That hurt that did

I don't want one, I just want that fancy light stand !

Hello everyone

I'd just like to thank everyone that made the effort to come to York over the course of the weekend to meet us all at the first TP Convention.

Yvonne - you were an absolute star. I know it was the first time you'd ever arranged something like this and I personally appreciate the amount of effort you put into it :)

I was speaking with Barry (Fastek), Neil (Epson), Paul (H&M) and obviously Matt (aka Limpy!) about the whole event and we all did enjoy it. I think the nice weather had an impact on the lower numbers on Sunday but we still had a cracking day on Saturday :)

I gave a talk on Saturday (and no-one was around on Sunday for it ) on getting images ready for print, working with colourspaces and I talked briefly on how different media portrays colour and light differently - I will make an effort to put some of my notes into a tutorial on here for people - it should overcome 90% of the "my prints came back too dark" type comments from ALL photolabs not just us

Also - I'll put up my slides on curves adjustment for both photoshop and Elements for those that found that useful too and the benefits of it.

We actually talked ourselves into buying another printer (with HDR inks!) so a lovely shiny 7900 pro will be with us soon for those HDR 'togs amongst you!

Also - from an ISL perspective - we hope you enjoyed having a little play with some lighting. Sadly we had no where near the space to allow us to do what we had intended and with there being no lift we couldn't get the gear upstairs so had to make do with what we have.

However, if anyone would like to come and have a play in the real studio where space is of no problem at all the please, pop on down - we're always pleased to see people and the kettle is always on!!

So thanks again to everyone that turned up - those of you that didn't you missed a good weekend and it was nice to put faces to names.

Cheers everyone

Lee

We were brought forward 3 hours early (tactically!) and I think people were still in York at that time :)

I'll put the same thing on here anyway ;)

I'd also like to offer my thanks to you all and especially Yv

I was barred from attending due to work commitments, a real disappointment really as I could have done with getting some advice on printing and maybe even got an image printed for next months camera club comp :D There were also a few people I needed to catch up with for a good old natter too :(

I'm soooooo glad you all had a great time :)

We were hoping to meet the three of you who started it too. So when is the next meet up.

The three admins have never ever been in the same place at the same time. We really need to rectify that :D

Lee, I didn't know you were planning a talk on Sunday, I would have been there like a shot. I really wanted to have a look at the studio stuff and a play with the model (photographically of course!!).
The same goes for printing. As I explained, Ive got a huge problem with being a complete home printing noob so would have loved to hear the talk on print and media.

You do photographic days at the studio don't you. I wouldn't mind getting to gether with a couple of others and come down, hire the studio for a couple of hours with a model and get some shots if that's something you can do :)
Would mean I get to meet you and Matt properly too :D And not just for 5 quick minutes lol

I have loads more but here are a few embarrassing photo's of the TP members who attended..

1. MD imitating a kid!!!

 WHO put that bottle of Jack Daniels in front of me? :suspect:

That turned out quite well afterall Matt, well done...and what do you mean, MD 'imitating' a kid? :naughty:

note how little jd is left in that bottle people and no it was not all runk by Yv.:D

Had the haggis yet, Marcel?????:exit:

Its being tickled by a simmer as we speak :D

Brian

I'd agree with Brian, too far for me to get to in a single day but next time i will make a real effort to get there! :)

Was I the only one nodding off at the back of the Lee Filters chat? On the Sunday I mean.. Must of been something about the night before I guess. I was gutted that I missed the early morning outing to York so had to be contented with bad photos of the Minster from the previous day and a few arty shots of hen party attendees who dressed in the dark that morning NSFW

I'm sure MD has been returned home now and the straight jacket has been refitted. I'm convinced he would make a great baby sitter though.

Joseph one of my kids was playing with the TV in the conference room as we all got to know each other and he clattered something on the floor only to see 30 sets of eyes turn and stare at him, he ducked out of sight behind a chair and 15 people started to roar with laughter at his response.

Guess you had to be there to appreciate it.

One other thing the raffle prizes were absolutely stunning. Yv must have worked very hard to have so many high value items supplied. Even moi who wins nothing won a TP beanie and will be wearing it with pride at as many TP meets as I can get to in future.

See Danger Mouse was in attendance! I can't work out that with him as the focus point and using the light so well I managed to blow out his head... go figure !?!?!

I was gutted I couldn't be there (babysitting duties :) ) but I cannot wait till the next gathering :D Sounds like you all had a great time!

Its being tickled by a simmer as we speak :D
Has anyone heard from Marcel, I'm concerned about his well being after eating the beast.....don't worry, Marcel, I won't be offended if you didn't like it......
George

Has he actually posted anything since? Maybe the haggis ate him instead!

I never win anything either but won two beanies! I just need a little beanie now for the one in the camera bag.

<----------------------------

Next year I'm going to make an appearance. I want to get banned at least once from everything relating to TP :D

I didn't make it to the convention this year, but from the threads and photos it seems like it was a real success. You all obviously put in a lot of work and that fact alone shows that TP has strong community.

No, Darren, for his first one I got a fairly tame one, the young ones don't have fully developed teeth.

Possibly, but could it have sneaked in some dentures. They can be sneaky beasties :)
