Confirmed! Flyer printing from 1-2-print ***Received***

My flyers arrived today!

Not bad.....the back image is upside down (LOL) but hey.
I wish I had adjusted the black levels after adding the colour profile they provide.
Will try and get some photos up sometime.

Thanks to OP.

Another satisfied customer here.

Used 1-2 Print for a 48 side product catalogue. Did a short run to start as it was the only way to get a really indicative sample. Now moving on to a 1,000 copy run and they come in at about £1.25 each. So really good quality at a really good price.

More thanks to OP.

Best bit of 'spin' I have seen this year .....

" Offering a friendly, relaxed and personal photography experience outside of the studio enviroment "

Far better than say 'portraits in the park because I have not got a studio'

Good on you:)

Really grateful for this thread- ordered 5000 A6 in December - easy to use software and payment, service couldn't be faulted and the express delivery turned up trumps.
Very pleased, will be using again next month.

I know im being a complete Idiot, but I have downloaded the empty template (for all photoshop programmes) but cant find where I can open it within photoshop.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

has your sales gone up much since distributing these flyers? oh and ive just received my sample pack from 1 2 print and i got a free packet of haribos :)

The media centre that I do a lot of work with has ordered this deal quite a few times now since, great quality and the price is just amazing... they recently ordered 1000 similar leaflets from a UK place because they needed fast turnaround, and it cost about twice this!

Let's face it, if it gets you one job from the lot it's paid for them ;)

It's been a great success for me, far better than responses from local advert mags

I got my 5000, Few marks on some and had to bin probably 50 out of the whole lot, I give out roughly 200 a month for what I do and these will last me forever, In fact, Ive got too many but for the price its a great deal.

Will defo use these again !

Did any of you upload using the PDF method?

I'm going to re-order mine as the picture on the back was upside down!
I just sent in 2 JPEGS. I must have done something wrong?

I have just sent my order as 2 jpegs, but will certainly be complaining if one side is upside down. Have you contacted them about it?

Im not sure how to convert 2 jpegs into 1 PDF file? Anybody got any tutorials?

I send them pdf.

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro so it's a right click option to convert to pdf.

I'm unsure how it works with the poverty version!

I've ordered some too for the Mrs' business. I up loaded 2 CMYK tiffs (14meg each!) They then instantly converted it to a PDF for me to approve online. They have been sent by UPS and should be here Tuesday.

Mine should be here Tuesday too.

Again, I had trouble with their colour profile. Once I uploaded my JPEGS, the server converted them to PDF and made the blacks almost grey and the colours washed out.

I Phoned the guy up, but was struggling to hear him. But was assured they would be the right way around this time. We'll see. Will definately ask for a refund if its wrong this time too

I sent mine as 2 JPEG's (extended canvas to add space for text around image on one and added text over the image on the other) and was very happy with results.

Arrived to day, very happy. Binned about 6 which had a bit of damage, but they supplied 5489 so still well up on the deal! Don't know how they can do them for the money!

You didnt sit there and count them did you? :D

Mine arrived in the country today so hoping to recieve them tomorrow !

Received my 5000 flyers this afternoon. Only checked 1/3 of them so far but so far so good. 12 thrown.

I am pleased with them, but they have been printed in a much darker tone of blue than I sent them. I sent them a bright Royal Blue, and they have printed a navy (almost purple) blue colour, but they still look good so im not complaining.

Some potentially useful info for anyone thinking of ordering these.

With regards to the above mentioned colour difference, I indicated this to them when they asked me for feedback. Within an hour or so I had a very informative e mail explaining that my Jpegs were sent with RGB colour settings, which they have to convert to CMYK. Thats where my colour was lost and it is because I used elements which doesnt support CMYK. If you use CS3 or above then apparently it is not such an issue.

They also indicated that if I order again, then I should contact them before uploading my files, and they will take the time to manually convert my RGB file to avoid any colour loss.

Pretty good customer service as far as im concerned !!

Can you show us a sample of your flyer please, very interested in this offer.

I now have a box of 5000 of these flyers on my office. They are TP ones...which we had hoped to get for Focus on Sunday, but anyway they look really good! Followed their instructions about making them in CMYK and embedding their ICC profile and all that shizzle and they have come back spot on

The only downside is that text isn't very crisp, if you look very closely the edge of the text is very rough, but I think this might be down to me.

Aren't we supposed to use a certain type of font so that it prints better, I thought I read that not to use a true type font and only use open type ones?

I'll post some pictures this evening. I'll include the actual design and a shot of the flyers themselves so you can see the colour difference. Im happy to accept that it was due to my lack of understanding with regards to file types etc. I am 100% impressed with this company.

Thanks to the OP for posting this all those months ago!

Let me introduce myself first. My name is Peter. I work as a digital media designer. Hopefully I can answer some of your questions regarding printing templates.
1. With Photoshop you should always save your files as JPEG or TIFF. Photoshop PDF can be a little tricky and sometimes cause unmeant results (fonts aren't embedded, colour settings or resolution change...). If you want to send a PDF just combine your JPEG's or Tiff's in Acrobat to a PDF.
It's only TrueType and Type0 fonts that can cause problems. If you save your file as a JPEG or TIFF everything in our layout is converted to a pixel graphic and therefore fonts can be ignored. Just use your preferred font!
2. Resolution: Everybody will probably tell you to save your files at 300 dpi. If I have a lot of text (or small text) on my layout I always set the resolution to 600 dpi. This increases the file size - but I've got broadband ;) - but it also increases the quality
3. Colour settings: You should always use CMYK colour settings for your printing template (offset/litho).

1-2-print request 356dpi as per their PDF spec.

I know, please don’t get me wrong. 300 or 354 dpi are always fine for printing images and text, but you can increase the quality of your text with 600 dpi.
If you use InDesign or Illustrator 354 (or 300) dpi are fine as this setting will only affect the images. All other elements (text, shapes...) are saved as outlines or embedded fonts. But if you save your Photoshop file as a JPEG or TIFF all text will be automatically converted to a pixel image. With a 300 or 354 dpi pixel image it can appear that very light shades around your letters appear. With 600 dpi this normally doesn't happen. Save your PSD file as a 300 dpi JPEG and a 600 dpi JPEG. If you then zoom (400-600%) you can see the difference.

I realise what you're saying, but 1-2-print request the files to be sent at a particular dpi, so my advice is give them what they ask for! If you're printing at home or else where with other requirements then do the other!

Glad many have been happy with their service. Let's face it for the money it is outstanding.

Just to give another '5 star' review... I got 1000off book fold A4-A5 leaflets Thursday that I ordered Sunday night (170gsm matt varnished) for £79 delivered and really wasn't expecting them to be pre-folded for that price! Needless to say, they were and they were folded spot on and look great. It's a nice smooth satin finish that looks a bit more up-market than the standard gloss paper.

finally ordered my flyers.
so we will see come next thurs!!

You'll probably get them before that. If you ordered yesterday there's a good chance they'll be with you either this friday or monday.

for some reason... im really crap when using photoshop to design things.. im much better in fireworks.. can i just not use fireworks to design the leaflets?

can u save the doc as PDF afterward? i saved mine as jpg and they converted to PDF when i uploaded.

one thing to be ware although they said leave 3mm for bleed you have to leave a total of 5mm so they can use a big machine to cut the flyers down.

Im not sure on this mate. The templates I remember seeing were for photoshop, Indesign or Illustrator.

My advice would be to e mail them, they respond quickly and they are very helpful !!

I think Fireworks only supports the RGB colour space - so there will be a colour shift during the CMYK conversion. If you use black text, backgrounds or images the inking will be far beyond 300% and can cause problems (check the 1-2-print FAQ's). Pads suggestions is a good idea, mail them your file and ask if they'll convert it for you.

ok ladies and gentlemen this is the finished product

very happy with quality. Boxes then sent in could be little sturdier.
do get the odd damaged one but 5000 for £39 i certainly not complaining.

i'm going to cry!
just got my logo through from a friend who has designed it and clicked on the link and they are back up to £56! still its a good offer....

edit! i have been a bit thick! found it now the offer is still live!
