There is probably a very quick and easy answer to this. If I open an image is there any way I can measure the colour temperature of the image? If so can I measure the temp on individual layers?

Reason I want to do this is to try and balance colour temp on a background to match smart object layer or the other way round, etc. If I know what the (average?) colour temp is then I can then take steps to correct individually on layers.

Can anyone help at all? I am using CS5 and will prob use a raw editor to modify the smart object(s) colour temp?

Cheers,

Marcus

Can't you just use the colour picker on the said areas to find out the RGB values and then correct as necessary with curves? For me that would be the quickest and probably best solution.

I'm looking for the colour temp of the whole background/selection/layer. Not particular points. Would the colour picker be able to do this?

For example, if the background has a slightly blue tint, which could be due to either the white balance or post processing, I want to be able to know the precise tint so I can apply it across all layers.

Whilst in Photoshop, hit F1 and enter "Match the color in different images" in the search box. I think it tells you exactly what you need to know.
