This is exactly what the mass market can't fathom, there are no "servers", IW removed support for dedicated servers. Its all run on a P2P network, which sucks hugely and is a big 'screw-you', to the PC gamers especially.
(That is not to say a Europe-to-America connection wouldn't lag even on a dedi server)
I just don't understand why all the hype. An SP mode which barely last 10 playing hours if you go steady, which isn't all that enthralling because everything is so routine and scripted; too perfect.
Then the MP, which (I don't think) matches the experience in the original COD4:MW, and ofcourse the server problems.
:bang:
It's a flawless game. I'm sorry but pick a fault that really detracts from the game. I challenge you to beat the game on veteran. It is
savage. A real sense of accomplishment when you get past a checkpoint.
Routine and scripted? Did you even play any other COD game? That's what it is! It's just one long interactive politically-driven edge-of-your-seat blockbuster action film!
Spec Ops is fantastic too, and that easily gives you another 15 hours on top of SP. Me and a friend spent easily an hour on just
one mission on veteran.
How does multiplayer not match up?
It's just COD4 with way more upgrades, guns and new levels... There isn't much different gameplay mechanics wise, there is just tonnes more depth.
I honestly think that this is one of those things that has become cool to hate.
Like the Halo series of games, like popular music (RHCP, G'n'R etc - most people are like "Ew popular music I prefer indie stuff"), like the BNP (most people don't even know what the BNP stand for, let alone why they hate them!) etc etc etc
p.s. for the record, I think that lack of dedicated servers is a shame on PC, because that's what the PC community do. Mod, glitch, hack, and generally don't like playing with anyone that isn't on their forum. I for one couldn't care less.
